My Wife and I Became Sages in Another World-Chapter 394: Twins Vs. Emperor
Chapter 394: Twins Vs. Emperor
As I stood before the emperor and two black demons with my adamantite sword in hand, I thought about ending the encounter quickly since I wanted to help my companions.
The two black demons next to him seemed wary of me after I took out my sword, while the emperor had a smirk on his face that was slightly annoying to look at.
Surprisingly, it was the emperor who rushed at me first with his massive sword in hand, with the two demons disappearing as they tried to get me from my blind spots.
Staying completely calm, I fused my sword with lightning magic, making it look like an electric whip, and waved it downwards over my head, generating a blast that flung the two demons away from me.
Nonetheless, the emperor had used wind magic to redirect the blast away from him as he kept approaching me at high speeds.
"Got you!" the emperor shouted as he stood before me, using both of his hands to strike me horizontally.
"Hmm?" I replied, not moving a step from where I started.
When the emperor’s blade was mere centimeters away from my neck, I grabbed it with my bare hand, completely stopping his attack.
My palm bled a little bit after catching his sword, but it wasn’t a big deal since my arm was already kind of numb from his surprise attack.
Noticing what was happening, the emperor widened his eyes in shock and tried to retract his blade—but my grip was too strong for him to compete against.
Honestly, I wanted to shatter his blade, but it proved to be way more durable than I expected.
"You are strong... What a shame," I commented as I kept holding his blade next to my neck.
If I had to place the emperor on a power scale, I would have said he was as powerful as Sinoc. However, Thorun didn’t use any demonic energy, so he was arguably stronger than the former sage’s pupil.
Either way, I didn’t feel like it was up to me to give judgment to the guy when he had wronged so many others in the north.
Keeping my grip on his blade, I placed my other hand on his chest and cast a wind spell that flung him fifteen meters away from me into a building.
Right at that moment, the two black demons appeared behind me, but I was aware of their location—and as soon as they got close enough, I turned with my adamantite sword fused with fire magic and sliced them in half with one single strike.
I knew the emperor was still alive after my last attack, but I didn’t care since he wasn’t my primary target.
When I tried to get away, Thorun shot a fireball from the area where he crashed, making me avoid it and stopping me from leaving the place.
"Ichiroooo!" I heard a woman shouting my name.
In the sky, I could see the two twins from Vista, Luca, and Florencia, who darted down to the ground beside me.
"Our troops got inside. They are curing the citizens as we speak—Just like you said, some of them asked for weapons to help us out," Luca commented.
"Good job," I replied, keeping my gaze locked on the emperor, who stood a mere ten feet away from us.
"Who’s this old man, by the way?" Florencia asked, holding her short blade in a guarding stance.
"That’s the emperor..." I said, making the two perk up with anticipation.
"He won’t leave me alone..." I continued, implying that I wanted to keep moving.
"Then, let us..." said Luca, his voice laced with confidence and fear.
I thought about it at first, not knowing if it would be safe for them to fight the emperor, but when I inspected the twins closer, I had the feeling that they could win.
"Alright then. Focus on your survival, not the opponent’s..." I muttered to the twins.
"Dead or alive. Understood," Florencia replied.
At that moment, the twins launched themselves at the emperor, who received them with an excited smirk. Nonetheless, the princes’ attacks were quite powerful, giving me enough time to leave the area and fly away.
When I peeked above the walls, I could still see the massive hydra in the center of the city, waving its long necks in every direction with the occasional fire breath that echoed all over the districts.
Moreover, I could also sense Baelzor’s demonic energy nearby, who was fighting against Melina and Nessa.
Baelzor was our main target since killing him would release the imps from the citizens’ bodies.
We would have to exterminate the imps afterward, but it was much easier to do that than healing every single citizen safely.
It would have been logical for me to go after Baelzor and finish him off quickly with the help of Melina and Nessa. However, there was this eerie feeling creeping up on me that was telling me to go to the hydra.
Drakzen was still missing, but I knew that he would arrive at any moment, as his specialty was showing up at the worst possible times.
’If Drakzen shows up, it will be a beast’s corpse that lures him out...’ I thought.
I knew Drakzen was interested in Vespera, and now that she was fighting a powerful monster, I was worried for her, so I decided to listen to my gut and fly back to the city center to support my companion.
While making my way there, Fuego appeared flying next to me in his smaller-sized dragon form, which made him the size of a huge horse with wings.
"How’s the egg?" he casually asked mid-flight on the cusp of a massive battle.
"Hmm? It’s doing fine..." I responded without stopping, taking a quick glance at my backpack.
"Good," Fuego said, somewhat indifferent as he kept flying beside me.
"Are you helping with the hydra?" I asked.
"I can’t. I have to stop ’him’..." Fuego replied, moving his neck to the side and pointing nowhere.
"Stop who-...!" I tried asking, but my words were halted when I felt a strong, dark presence that was coming our way at incredible speeds.
"My brother..." Fuego answered with a somber tone.
