My Wife and I Became Sages in Another World-Chapter 423: The World Titan’s Magic
Chapter 423: The World Titan’s Magic
When nighttime arrived on our first day in G’Henna, the soldiers that were being teleported to our location had stopped, and we literally had thousands of people in that area.
Most of them were split between their groups, but I saw some of the soldiers from different nations talking with each other and having a good time, which was nice, considering the situation we were in.
The World Titan ended up fighting the massive Primal Demon the entire night, so people didn’t really get much sleep, as they were afraid the battle would make the two massive beings stumble upon us.
Vespera was awake the entire night to guard the place, and the next morning, we began to move some of the soldiers forward outside of the coast.
It took the entire day, but by the time the second night arrived, we had over half of the soldiers deeper into the mainland, and the devils’ castle in the distance was visible from our new base.
I used my voice crystal to call the Dwarven King, asking how they were faring after fighting the monster for a little over 24 hours, and the king explained that the dwarven engineers were taking turns commanding the titan.
Since the inside of the titan was pretty much the size of a small city, they had plenty of space they could use to rest while the others controlled the machine.
Funnily enough, the beds and chairs inside the titan had seatbelts, which were precisely the same as a standard seatbelt from a vehicle in my past world, so I assumed Alejandro got inspiration from that design.
Either way, the seatbelts were necessary since the dwarves were being thrown around the room every time the titan made an abrupt movement, so they had to fasten their bodies to their seats to sleep without getting flung like a ragdoll.
’Man, these dwarves are tough...’ I thought.
I mean, even if someone were wearing a seatbelt, it would be pretty easy to wake up when everything around them was moving, but the dwarves simply adapted to it.
During the second night, I was hovering high in the air, watching the fight between the World Titan and the Primal Demon, and at one point, the demon took a quick step back from the titan as if it was trying to rest.
"Is it exhausted...?" I pondered aloud, but the only one who could hear me was Ovi, the baby dragon sitting on my shoulder.
Their fight was taking place roughly 100km away from my location, so I was able to see their silhouettes, but I couldn’t really tell what was happening.
When I grabbed my voice crystal out of my void pocket and sent a message to the dwarven king, asking him for the details, I could hear the shouts of the other engineers in the background of his reply message.
["Haha! We’re winnin’, Sage Ichiro! Just ye wait, I’ll show ye what this beauty can do!"] the king said in his message, his tone excited and proud.
Using a combination of wind and gravity magic, I propelled myself forward in the air and traveled in the direction of the World Titan.
I wasn’t going to get in the middle of the fight or anything, but the king wanted to show me something, and I thought it would be better if I got a bit closer.
As I flew at high speeds, I reached the opening we had left on the massive wall surrounding the continent, giving me a much better view of the two colossal beings in the distance.
At that moment, the World Titan raised one arm and pointed its arm at the Primal Demon, who seemed exhausted after fighting for two straight days.
"Huh...?" I muttered, seeing streaks of light gathering around the titan’s open palm.
’Wait... That thing can cast magic!?’ I pondered, widening my eyes as the light accumulated in a single spot, generating a sphere of pure energy right on the colossus’ hand.
Compared to the size of the titan, the ball of energy wasn’t immense. However, compared to the size of pretty much everything else, that ball was larger than an entire town.
In the blink of an eye, the sphere shattered and shot straight at the Primal Demon’s head like a laser beam from a sci-fi movie, burning through its head and landing on the ocean behind them, vaporizing some of the water before dissipating.
I stood still while hovering in the air, speechless at the sight and seeing how the Primal Demon’s body began sinking and turning to dust.
["HAHAA! Did ye see that, Sage? Wooo! Let’s go, lads!"] said the king in another message, breaking my silence and making me snap out of it.
"That was... unexpected. Impressive, but unexpected," I replied.
With the Primal Demon out of the picture, the dwarves made the World Titan approach the walls of G’Henna once again. This time, they walked much slower so that the ocean currents wouldn’t get too altered.
Honestly, if any devil thought about attacking us, our base not only had thousands of soldiers and magic casters, but it also had a massive titan watching over it from behind.
Realistically, the titan couldn’t really defend our base since it would destroy everything with one of its attacks, but it was threatening enough to keep all the devils away.
The following morning, more of our soldiers on the frontlines kept advancing through what we ended up calling the "Coral Reef Forest," as the entire area was barren, with only the marine life that had grown on it after hundreds of years underwater.
While the frontline moved forward, we had other soldiers making camps in other areas, taking as much space as we could so the devils wouldn’t be able to move freely on our side.
Still, I thought it was strange that the only devil we had encountered was the Primal Demon. Even if Drakzen had been commanding the lower-ranked demons, one or two would usually underestimate humans and attack on their own. Nonetheless, it would take a few more days before we encountered our first enemy inside G’Henna.
