My Wife and I Became Sages in Another World-Chapter 457: Agares’ Selfishness
Chapter 457: Agares’ Selfishness
After my battle with Drakzen was momentarily interrupted when both Melina and Xalathas unleashed an overwhelming amount of energy, I heard Vespera’s voice in my head telling me that Agares was coming my way.
Not even three seconds after her warning, I sensed hostility coming from behind me, but I stayed calm, knowing that my back was always covered.
When Agares landed and bolted forward with his claws raised in the air to strike my back, Yoru appeared from my shadow and released a beam of blue light from his mouth filled with moon magic, blasting Agares away.
Drakzen followed it up with an attack of his own, which I deflected with my bo until Vespera arrived, striking Drakzen on the side of his torso and pushing him away.
Agares, stepping away from Yoru’s onslaught, stood beside Drakzen with a smirk while Vespera and Yoru regrouped with me.
"A bit rude to interrupt someone else’s fight..." I said to Agares.
"HA! Can you blame me, though? I want to fight the sages as well!" The ancient demon replied.
As we got into a battle stance, ready to rush forward, Frost arrived at the scene in his dragon form with both Nessa and Jackson riding on his back.
When the two jumped down and plummeted to the ground with their weapons aimed at Drakzen and Agares, their landing raised a cloud of black dust that shrouded the area, followed by a series of sounds of weapons clashing.
Suddenly, Drakzen and Jackson jumped out of the cloud, clashing their weapons fiercely without stopping.
It was the first time I had seen Jackson make such a furious expression, as if it was mixed with anger and desperation. However, since he hadn’t used his demonic powers for a long time, he was at a disadvantage against Drakzen.
A moment later, Nessa joined the fray to help Jackson, landing a punch on his face that seemed to catch him by surprise. Nonetheless, Drakzen was able to keep up with the two of them.
While I was slightly distracted by the sight, Vespera jumped in front of me and blocked a sneaky shadowy projectile that was aimed at my face, prompting me to use wind magic to dissipate the cloud of dust that covered the area.
Right when Agares appeared in our field of vision, the demon rushed forward at an incredible speed that I wasn’t expecting him to have. Even so, Yoru halted him before he could reach me, clawing his arm and making him step back.
*Tch* "I don’t even know you, man. Leave me alone," I said to Agares, who I was starting to believe was more annoying than Drakzen.
I mean, Drakzen and I had been fighting for years at that point, so I was looking forward to finally putting an end to his scheme. However, now I had to worry about some other selfish demon who just wanted to fight me for entertainment.
*Sigh* "Well, I suppose I would’ve had to kill you anyway..." I continued, clenching my bo tightly.
Enhancing my body with lightning and fire magic, I rushed forward and appeared before Agares in the blink of an eye, slamming my bo against his face and blasting him away against a rocky hill.
When Agares stood up mere seconds later, he shook off some of the dirt from his body and touched his nose, seeing the blood coming out of it and making him smile like a maniac.
"Yes! This is it!" Agares exclaimed.
"Weirdo..." I muttered, bolting forward again with a follow-up attack.
Agares didn’t have any weapons on him like Drakzen and Xalathas. Instead, he used his demonic energy to create large shadow claws on both of his hands, which felt quite heavy when I protected myself from his attacks.
Knowing that I wouldn’t need much help against Agares, I used telepathy and told Vespera to help Jackson and Nessa, who were fighting against Drakzen.
While I kept exchanging blows against the ancient demon, he jumped back, and his shadow claws warped together to create a small orb of energy.
’Hmm? That’s an ominous amount of power...’ I thought, stopping for a moment before I could get closer to him.
Suddenly, the shadow orb split into hundreds of smaller orbs that hovered behind Agares, occupying a large area, and as he smirked evilly and waved his hand down, the projectiles started to rain at bullet speed toward me.
I quickly dashed back and raised a magical barrier to protect myself. Even though they spent a lot of MP, it was the fastest way I could think of to protect myself from the overwhelming number of projectiles.
Still, for some reason, a few of the projectiles broke through the invisible barrier and hit me in the shoulders and legs, prompting me to dramatically increase my speed to get away from the painful rain.
As I kept dodging the barrage of shadowy orbs, Agares’ attack came to a halt when Yoru appeared behind the ancient demon and slashed his back, using moon magic to create three arcs of light from his claws.
The ancient demon turned and sliced the air with his own claws, but Yoru had already warped inside the shadow to escape, giving me the perfect opening to strike back.
The moment that Agares turned back around to look at me, I was mere centimeters away from him, holding my bo tightly and casting phoenix fire magic to encase the staff.
As the fire took the shape of a giant blade, I sliced diagonally and cut Agares from his horn all the way down to his waist.
Surprisingly, I was trying to slice his body in half, but it was way more durable than I thought.
Still, after leaving a massive wound on his chest and blasting him away out of my sight, I quickly scanned my surroundings to look for Drakzen since my battle with the ancient demon had made me move further away from his location.
I didn’t want to leave Drakzen fighting alone against my companions since I knew how powerful he could be, and the second I sensed his demonic energy, I dashed as quickly as possible toward him.
