My Wife and I Became Sages in Another World-Chapter 464: Atomic Magic
Chapter 464: Atomic Magic
While Yoru and Vespera continued attacking Drakzen without giving him a second to rest, Nessa and Jackson stood against Agares in a nearby area.
In the meantime, Arashi searched for Melina and saw the woman hovering high above in the air, looking down with her eyes widened in shock.
Due to their contract, Arashi and Frost were able to feel the mix of sadness and anger brewing inside Melina, and the storm dragon wanted to find her to console her, knowing that losing control wasn’t the best strategy.
As the scene of Ichiro’s lifeless body was imprinted in her brain, Melina completely silenced her surroundings, listening to her own breathing, which was gradually getting heavier and faster.
After a few seconds, the princess seemed to be hyperventilating from the emotions swelling within her, prompting her to slowly release an eerie energy from her body that darkened her surroundings.
Arashi, who was flying towards Melina, instantly stopped when she felt the surge of energy around her, and she could feel how Melina’s emotions were starting to affect her own.
"Ichi..." Melina muttered, a tear rolling down her cheek while flashes of memories spent with Ichiro appeared in her mind.
Xalathas was watching the princess’ reaction from afar, also hovering in the air, pondering if he should relish the opportunity to attack her.
However, in the blink of an eye, Melina had switched positions and hovered right behind the demon king with a cold expression devoid of emotions.
’How is she so fast!?’ Xalathas thought, and right as he turned around, Melina snapped her fingers and produced a blast of raw mana directed at the demon king.
The blast was so powerful that Xalathas was flung in the air like a rag doll, landing on the tip of a stone hill that shattered from the impact.
Still hovering in the air without showing any emotion, Melina turned her gaze and spotted Agares fighting with the enraged Nessa and Jackson.
At any other time, the two demon generals wouldn’t have been able to stand toe-to-toe against the ancient demon. However, the rage they felt after seeing Ichiro die had given them a strong boost to their powers.
Suddenly, from the tip of G’Henna’s castle, a black ray shot up into the sky, darkening the entire landscape with black clouds that seemed to be made of shadows.
"Hahah! The link is broken!" Drakzen exclaimed with a maniacal smile as he kept fighting Vespera and Yoru.
At that moment, on the 99th floor of the tower, Princess Yuki and Sage Astra had been spectating the battle, as they were the only team that managed to reach the top after Ichiro’s team.
They had been looking after the portal that was sealed by the gem link, which prevented any more evil demons from entering their world.
At first, the portal looked like an almost perfect circle, outlined by blue energy that could be considered calming by mages. However, after Ichiro’s death, the multi-colored gem glowed red along with the portal’s outline.
Astra understood that the gem was linked to Ichiro, and the stone was unable to gather magic from him, so it stopped working and reopened the portal for the demons to use.
’Maybe I can link my own magic to it...’ Sage Astra pondered while the portal released red strands of electricity.
Still, her effort was to no avail, as the gem rejected her energy instantly before shooting the black ray into the sky, phasing through the ceiling of the 99th floor as if it wasn’t even there.
Melina watched how the black beam of demonic energy rose higher and turned the skies scarlet red, a reminiscence of the first time that the continent of G’Henna appeared in the world. Nonetheless, her expression stayed cold and uncaring.
When Agares’ loud chuckles reached Melina’s ears, she looked down at the ground and saw the ancient demon stretching his arms to the side, prompting hundreds of black lightning bolts to rain around him—and at each point of impact, a demon from hell was brought to the world.
"Now, how about an army!? AHAHAHA!" Agares taunted, his face contorting and twisting in disturbing ways.
Jackson and Nessa, still in their true demon forms, gritted their teeth and took a few steps back, understanding that it wouldn’t be easy to kill that many demons, even in their enraged state.
*Bzzz* A faint electric sound buzzed next to them, making them turn their heads with haste and noticing Melina standing between them with her eyes fixed on Agares.
"Stand back..." Melina muttered under her breath, and her threatening aura made Nessa and Jackson comply with her.
"HAHAHA, did I catch the sage’s attention!? How lucky of me!" Agares commented, grabbing his face with joy.
"Ever since my memories returned, I thought about the concept of this magic... Though I never guessed I would be forced to use it," Melina whispered, and while Nessa and Jackson could hear her words, Agares asked the princess to speak louder.
Standing over twenty meters away from Agares and his thousands of demon soldiers, Melina’s pupils dilated as she extended her arm forward, and in that small window of time, Agares’ expression changed from joy to concern.
Holding her fingers ready to snap, Melina’s vision changed when she used magic to see the atoms flowing in the environment.
Magic was a force that could be shaped by imagination, and as someone with memories from a much more technologically advanced world, Melina could imagine things that not even a demon could fathom.
’Split!’ Melina thought, widening her eyes with focus and snapping her fingers, prompting the targeted atoms to break apart.
Agares stood still for half a second, and after seeing a small electric reaction happening in front of him, he knew that Melina had done something that he couldn’t understand.
*BOOM!*
Still, Agares couldn’t even ponder for another second as the massive explosion utterly disintegrated his body along with all of his demon soldiers in an instant, generating a large mushroom cloud that rose to the sky.
The blast’s radius reached Melina, prompting her to raise a barrier to protect Nessa and Jackson from the explosion, leaving everyone else on the battlefield utterly speechless and afraid.
"Next..." Melina muttered with anger as the blast dissipated, turning her gaze towards Xalathas, who was the closest enemy to her at the time.
