My Wife and I Became Sages in Another World-Chapter 466: Demon Deity
Chapter 466: Demon Deity
After Drakzen’s attack briefly distracted Melina, the assailant stood right behind Xalathas’ burning body.
His smile showed nothing but pure mischief, and when Melina prepared herself to attack once again with her scythe, both Vespera and Yoru arrived at the scene with their eyes still glowing red from their rage.
Nevertheless, as soon as they got close, they were pushed back by a powerful gust of magic, making Melina notice that Drakzen had taken hold of the demon king’s heart with his own hands.
"Drakzen... You...!" Xalathas tried to exclaim, gazing to the side and seeing his subordinate grinning.
"It was a pleasure to serve you, my king. Now, allow me to continue..." Drakzen said without wiping his creepy smile off his face.
In the blink of an eye, the entire scenery around them turned pitch black, prompting Vespera and Yoru to scan their surroundings while Melina barely reacted to their actions.
Seeing the demon king’s body contort and twist in space as if he was being sucked by a black hole, Drakzen’s laugh could be heard all over G’Henna.
Not even a second later, Xalathas’ body had been erased from existence, leaving Drakzen hovering in the air with an utterly different body build and a much more foreboding aura around him.
Xalathas’ frame had gotten bulkier. His arms had long, bladed bones sticking out from his elbows and shoulders, and his horns grew to match his new body size.
His face seemed to be covered by a half-mask made of scales where the red glow of his eyes was visible in its sockets, his claws produced an ever-burning flame, and the tail on his back resembled that of a dragon.
While Drakzen inspected his new body, the fighters and spectators stayed silent, with fear piercing their hearts.
Some people believed that Ichiro could still return to the battle, but others were slowly starting to lose hope, even when Melina hadn’t given up yet.
Drakzen took a deep breath and decided to speak up, but right as he opened his mouth, he sensed magic coming towards him, prompting him to raise his arm forward and produce a barrier that deflected the attack away from him.
"How rude..." Drakzen muttered, looking at Melina hovering a few meters away, holding her death scythe behind her back with an unmoving pose.
The princess was a bit shocked that Drakzen defended against her magic so easily, considering she had used the same ’death magic’ that killed Xalathas. Still, her expression didn’t show her concern.
"You are not as fun as Ichiro... Let us finish this quickly," Drakzen commented.
"Shut up..." Melina said with a low tone, feeling sick after hearing the demon uttering the name.
Without moving from her spot in the air, numerous arched projectiles started to shoot out in Drakzen’s direction, covered in the green flames of death that had destroyed Xalathas.
Extending both of his arms to the side, Drakzen released raw demonic energy and destroyed the death slices before they could get anywhere close to him. Nonetheless, those were only the attacks that Melina could use without even moving.
Right as the last projectile dissipated into thin air, Melina appeared right in front of Drakzen after rushing forward, holding the scythe over her head and striking down, generating a rift in the air that seemed to burn the space itself.
As the flames slowly dissipated, Melina saw Drakzen grinning, even though the demon had lost an arm, only to get struck by an invisible force that hit her in the stomach.
The demon’s attack was strong enough to force Melina over twenty meters away from him, allowing him to regenerate his whole arm in an instant while the sage coughed a bit of blood.
"Don’t you see!? I’ve become a true ’Demon Deity!’" Drakzen exclaimed, clenching his newly regenerated fist.
*Ptoo* Melina spat out some blood to the side, keeping her sharp gaze on her target and gripping her scythe even tighter. freeweɓnøvel.com
"Killing another sage won’t be a problem anymore. No matter how many awakenings you go through!" Drakzen continued.
In another setting, Melina would’ve chuckled at the comment. Still, even if Ichiro wasn’t around, she knew she wasn’t fighting alone.
At that moment, both Arashi and Frost shot out lightning and oversized ice spears from above at the demon, prompting him to fly away to avoid the overwhelming number of bolts and projectiles.
While flying with an evil grin on his face that clearly showed Drakzen was enjoying himself, he was struck by a sudden attack on the side of his torso that erased his smile in an instant.
Turning his head, he noticed Vespera stabbing his ribs with two of her spider legs, gritting her teeth with pure rage and desperation.
Drakzen waved his hand to the side and blasted Vespera away from him, making the queen demon spider land on the ground and producing a large crater on impact. However, it gave Yoru a good opportunity to attack from behind.
In his humanoid form, Yoru appeared right behind Drakzen and stabbed his back with his claws, angering the demon and making him release pure demonic energy around them, sending Yoru to the ground with force.
The opening was good enough for Melina to land another attack with her scythe. However, the green flames that prevented healing didn’t have an effect on Drakzen’s new body, so he was still able to regenerate his injuries.
Melina and her companions didn’t stop there, and their fight continued for a few minutes while the rest of the world nervously spectated the battle.
In the midst of her flurry of enraged attacks, Melina’s body was overwhelmed by a completely different energy coming from the ground, prompting everyone to stop, even Drakzen.
"Hmm?" The demon muttered, his expression showing both curiosity and disdain.
"Ichiro...?" Melina muttered to herself, turning her head and looking at the place where Ichiro’s body had fallen.
When she looked down, she saw Sage Devon kneeling beside Ichiro, whose body seemed to produce ashes as if he was being incinerated.
Melina widened her eyes in realization, but Drakzen was confused as to what was happening, unaware of the blessing that Ichiro had received long before their battle.
’He is... Regenerating!?’ Drakzen pondered in disbelief, rushing down to the area to prevent it from happening.
Nevertheless, he was stopped in his tracks by Melina and both of her dragons, pushing the demon back and overwhelming him with another set of magical attacks that kept making the sky light up in different colors.
