OMG!!! My Crippled Husband is a Hot, Powerful CEO-Chapter 138 – Save Yourself from Torture
Chapter 138: Chapter 138 – Save Yourself from Torture
The maid was startled, feeling as if she had done something wrong, and stammered, "I don’t know, Mr..."
Alex cut in, "It’s alright. Just go." The maid hastened, feeling relieved, as she had no idea what those items were going to be used for. Joanna’s curiosity was piqued, and she asked Alex,
"Is there something you are not telling me?" freewёbnoνel.com
Alex shook his head, surprised that Joanna didn’t know something so basic. "Why are you so naïve?" he asked. Joanna was confused as he explained, "Bread, hot sauce, and water can help knock out her hysteria."
"Oh," Joanna hummed, completely oblivious to such information since she had never been under such influence, and followed Alex downstairs.
Seeing one of the maids she liked so much with her hands and legs tied to a chair, she felt miserable.
"Will you start talking?" Alex’s voice lacked warmth, and the maid was afraid. She had always heard people talk about how ruthless her boss could be but had never been directly affected by it.
This looked like one of those times to make it happen, but then she felt her madam was soft and would save her.
Sir, I received a call about an emergency and had to rush home since Betty was busy. I planned to send her a message to update her as soon as I arrived home, but the security and bodyguards stopped me."
Alex chuckled bitterly. Why was it so difficult for people to be honest and confess, instead choosing to endure torture before doing so?
"Cut off her fingers," Alex ordered, causing Joanna’s eyes to widen. "What?"
Her reaction made Alex regret involving her. She was too soft for him, although her presence brought him joy.
Someone like Joan would never be as tough as her sister, Nancy. Perhaps if she had a different upbringing, things would have been different.
The maid was internally excited, but Alex said to Joan, "I think you should go upstairs because I’m going to cut off her fingers."
The maid’s eyes widened in terror, but Joanna felt pity for her. "Can’t you just confess and save yourself from this torture?" she asked.
Though she couldn’t bear to watch, Alex’s serious expression and Jack holding strange scissors made Joanna question why she was invited to witness this.
"Ma’am, it’s true, please believe me," the maid pleaded, her pitiful gaze fixed on Joanna, who found herself inclined to trust her.
Anyone would have believed her if Alex didn’t have a lead.
"Alex, I think she’s telling the truth. Please don’t be cruel," Joanna implored, but Alex remained resolute. This was a test for her, to see if she could handle his dark side, and she was failing.
"If I prove she’s lying, will you watch me chop off her fingers?" Alex challenged.
Joanna hesitated, torn between her compassion for the maid and the need to uncover the truth. "Are you truly innocent?" she asked the maid.
The maid nodded fervently, relieved that the madam believed her. However, Joanna realized there were two possibilities: either the maid was genuinely innocent, or she was deceiving them both.
"Yes, ma’am, I have an emergency, which is why I tried to leave without permission," the maid explained.
"Alright," Alex said, relieved that he believed her, and then asked, "Who served Violet water?"
The maid hesitated before responding, "It was me, sir. I didn’t hear you the first time."
Alex rephrased his question, "Who gave you the water to give to Violet?"
"I fetched the water myself, sir," the maid admitted, realizing there were witnesses present.
Alex remained composed and inquired further, "Who drugged the water?"
The maid’s expression shifted slightly, but she quickly defended herself, "What if someone is trying to frame me? The glass must have been drugged without my knowledge."
Joanna felt reassured that she was correct until Alex asked one final question, "You mentioned receiving a call, may I see your phone?"
The maid, Brea, started sweating nervously, her lips tightly pressed together, and replied, "My phone is switched off."
"Give me her phone," Alex demanded from Jack, and Joanna began to realize that the maid had been deceiving them all along. She wondered how Alex would handle the situation before questioning the maid.
"Sir, this is her phone, and the last call was around four hours ago," Jack reported.
Brea was visibly shaking, tears welling up in her eyes. "I’m sorry. Madam Agnes said it was just a prank, so I shouldn’t let you know."
"You’ve been lying all this time, making a fool out of me," Joanna said, hurt evident in her voice. Alex was pleased to see her gaining a better understanding of the real world.
"At first, I only wanted to scare her by saying they would chop off her fingers, but now, for all the time wasted, it’s going to be done for real, and you, my Angel, will have to watch," Alex declared.
Joanna shook her head, realizing the severity of the situation. She had promised to stand by Alex, but witnessing such violence was beyond what she could bear. "I’m sorry, but I can’t watch."
As she tried to run, Alex caught her in his arms and spoke gently, "I will let you go on one condition."
"What condition is that?" Joanna asked anxiously, hoping to avoid witnessing the punishment Alex had in mind for the maid.
The harm was done to Joanna’s best friend, so her heart yearned for justice. "I hope you trust me more now," Alex said. Joanna smiled, realizing her trust in him had waned since learning he wasn’t crippled. "Sure."
"Get her out of here and let her face the necessary punishment. As for Agnes, I will deal with her myself."
Brea was horrified. With Joanna gone, she feared the worst and began pleading, "Ma’am, please forgive me."
Joanna turned around and looked at her with pity, but her words were resolute.
"My best friend deserves justice for what you did to her."
They walked hand in hand to see Violet, and Alex intentionally did not knock on the door, instead pushing it open. What they saw was too heavy for words.
