OMG!!! My Crippled Husband is a Hot, Powerful CEO-Chapter 206 - I’m not leaving
Chapter 206: Chapter 206 - I’m not leaving
When Joan witnessed Alex being mistreated by his younger brother, she couldn’t bring herself to leave the island, even though Nancy had escorted her to the helicopter.
The fear of losing Alex was so dense on her mind that she would not be able to sleep until she knew he was okay and that would affect her pregnancy more than if she stays behind.
"No, I’m not leaving," she declared firmly. Nancy was at a loss but felt compelled to remind her, "It’s not safe. You heard about the bomb."
Joanna’s heart sunk at the remembrance but this only strengthened her resolve not to leave. Alex had managed to escape before, but what if he couldn’t this time? Would she never see him again?
"No, I’m staying here with him," she insisted. Nancy felt helpless but reassured her, "Don’t worry. Salvatore’s team never abandons their own."
She wasn’t leaving but was mandated to ensure Joanna’s safety but never knew how stubborn he sister could be, even in the case of death.
Joan took Nancy’s hands and walked away from the helicopter. "You mean you’re not leaving?"
"No, we’ll find a way to rescue our boss," Nancy replied earnestly, instilling hope in Joan’s heart but not able to convince her to leave.
"Let’s go help Aiden," Dario suggested. Joan arrived at the cave where the prisoners were held, and they were being escorted to the helicopter. As one filled up, it would depart, and another would take its place.
"Dario, where’s Alex?" Aiden inquired as he assisted the remaining victims onto the helicopter.
"He’s still inside with those thugs but forced us to leave," Dario disclosed. Aiden’s heart sank as he scolded Dario, "How could you?"
Dario was at a loss, but when he saw Aiden heading towards the mansion, he stopped him. Together, they brainstormed while Nancy took charge of Aiden’s duties, with Joan watching helplessly.
"I managed to access some cameras. Let’s check and figure out a way to help," Dario informed them.
"Dario, I’m done here. What’s next?" Nancy inquired. Dario remembered something and instructed Aiden, "See if you can hack into the cameras there. I’ll try to deactivate the bomb with Nancy."
"And what about me?" Joan asked, unsure of her role. Aiden smiled and said, "Come check the cameras with me."
Aiden contacted 3E, who helped him gain access to the cameras and informed him that his father was safe.
"We can’t deactivate the bomb. Don Russo must have programmed it himself, and only he can control it," Dario lamented after returning with Nancy.
The few days he had worked with these dons, he could tell who was capable of what and right now, he needed a way to undo what they had done. Aiden came up with a plan, "We need a sniper."
"I can do that," Nancy volunteered before Dario could claim the task. He trusted Nancy to handle it anyway and relinquished the position to her, saying,
"Good. Let’s find a suitable position."
"Wait," Joan interjected, expressing her concerns. "What if you accidentally hit Alex?" She was so afraid of anything happening to Alex due to her inability to forget how she saw Logan kicking him.
Joanna knew Alex would have fought but due to the bomb, he decided to let Logan do whatever he wanted.
Dario reassured her, "Don’t worry. Salvatore will give us a sign. Even when he managed us virtually, there was a way to signal a rescue."
Joan felt out of her element, as these people seemed to understand things she didn’t. Even without hearing from Alex, it felt like they were still communicating with him.
"You need to take your position. Logan has a gun pointed at Alex. We need to act quickly," Aiden instructed seriously.
Dario and Nancy left to set up their equipment on higher ground, while Joan stayed by Aiden, her heart pounding.
"Aiden, please, you have to help Alex," a tear slipped down Joan’s cheek. Aiden forced a smile,
"Don’t worry. He’s not just my boss but also my best friend."
As they monitored the situation, Aiden was shocked to see Logan shoot a bodyguard and immediately communicated with Dario,
"Tell Nancy to shoot. Logan has betrayed the dons."
Nancy obeyed the command and fired anyone in sight who was not Alex or Logan until she could not see them anymore.
"What do you see? I don’t see anyone else," Nancy reported, Dario relayed the message to Aiden, sending his feedback to Nancy. "They’re inside, and Alex has been shot."
Before he could finish, Dario interrupted, "He just sent a message. He needs a medevac helicopter, and I’m calling one nearby."
Recalling that many of the victims were not severely injured, Dario had sent one medevac helicopter away empty and requested its return.
"What do we do now?" Joan asked, seeing the gun aimed at Alex. Aiden reassured her, "Don’t worry. I’ll take care of it." fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com
He then communicated with Dario, "I’m going in, but wait for Alex’s signal."
"How will he signal, and how will they hear him?" Joan asked anxiously. Aiden explained,
"Alex texted Dario, so he can call him since he has the phone."
Alex dialed the number and showed the document to Don Russo. All he needed was to lure the idiot to the window and when he did, he shouted, "Now."
Nancy fired the shot as soon as Dario heard and gave the order. Aiden turned around but only caught a glimpse of Joan’s back as she disappeared into the mansion, and he chased after her.
Joan was determined not to be stopped and located Alex, kneeling beside him as soon as she reached him.
"Joan, what are you doing here? This place is going to blow up. Save Lo...," Alex’s voice trailed off as he lost consciousness. Joan struggled to lift him, unsure of where she found the strength.
Perhaps she had Nancy to thank for making her eat before everything unfolded but luckily, Aiden had arrived, just as Joanna securely wrapped Alex’s arm around her neck.
"Alex," Aiden was disheartened to see his bloody back and carried him out before Joan remembered Logan.
Despite her desire to see him pay, she witnessed his change of heart and decided to help him before Dario and Nancy arrived.
"I’ll take him out. Nancy, call the paramedics," Dario instructed as he carried Logan.
Hearing the beeping sound quicken, he hurried out, urging Joan and Nancy to use the window. "Use the window."
Nancy pushed Joan through the window before following, forgetting her pregnancy as the mansion erupted in flames.
Coughing and struggling to stand, Joan saw blood, and Nancy’s eyes welled up with tears for the first time in a long while.
Trained not to cry, she feared she may have harmed her unborn niece or nephew. "Come on, get on my back," she said firmly, not giving Joan a chance to refuse, and they caught up to the medevac helicopter.
"She’s bleeding," Nancy alerted, and Aiden rushed to their side, and assisted Joan to the helicopter but Nancy was surprised to see the paramedic assisting Dario.
She quickly approached the paramedic and inquired, "What happened to him?"
"He couldn’t escape in time and threw the injured man over, but I caught him. He suffered some second-degree burns but will recover," the paramedic explained.
Relieved to hear the news, Nancy wanted to accompany them in the helicopter, but the paramedic declined,
"We’re already at capacity, but you can follow in the other helicopter."
"Nancy, what about Joan?" Aiden asked anxiously. She explained sadly, "She hesitated to jump, so I pushed her. I forgot she was pregnant."
Aiden was deeply concerned for Joan, given all she had endured during her pregnancy.
He hoped she wouldn’t lose the baby, as it would devastate Alex. "Let’s go," he gestured towards the waiting helicopter, and Nancy, with tears in her eyes, remembered, "What about the victims? Someone needs to be at the base to receive and interview them."
This was the first time they all participated in the same rescue mission simultaneously, prompting Aiden to make alternative arrangements.
It was an opportunity for other agents to be promoted. "Don’t worry. I’ve arranged for someone to handle it. Once things settle at the hospital, we can go and interview them."
Nancy agreed to the plan, and they boarded the helicopter. Aiden elaborated, "They’ll undergo medical checks, be fed, and provided shelter. Then we can conduct the interviews."
This approach would alleviate their stress, and Nancy agreed. The medevac helicopter landed at the nearest hospital before they arrived, but Aiden planned to transfer them to the King’s Hospital once their conditions stabilized.
As they waited in the lobby, exhaustion overcame them, and they drifted off to sleep, losing track of time until the doctor appeared.
"Family of Joanna King, Alex King, and Logan King."
Startled awake, they both rushed to the doctor, and Aiden anxiously inquired, "Doctor, please tell us the baby is okay, and how is Dario too?"
