OMG!!! My Crippled Husband is a Hot, Powerful CEO-Chapter 207 – Death is too peaceful for him
Chapter 207: Chapter 207 – Death is too peaceful for him
"Please calm down," the doctor advised before he began to explain. "Dario Deluxe is fine. His wounds should heal in a few weeks, but he can be discharged today, and Alex King has been stabilized."
Relief washed over both Nancy and Aiden, but the doctor explained further. "The bullet missed his spinal cord by a millimeter, and he can be discharged in a few days."
Aiden and Nancy were happy, but not for long. Their worry for Joan dominated the excitement they felt earlier, and Aiden quickly asked the doctor, "What about Joan? The baby?"
The doctor sighed. "Joan’s body is quite weak, and I suggest two weeks of bed rest, or she might lose the babies," he disclosed. Aiden’s eyes widened.
"Excuse me, did you say babies?" This sounded like the best news he had heard today. Alex would wake up feeling like the happiest man in the world.
"Yes, the scan shows that she’s carrying triplets. She needs to be more careful in the future if she wants to keep all of them," the doctor concluded. Aiden embraced Nancy tightly, and the two were in tears.
"This is good news. Grandpa must hear this, but do you mind if we transfer them to the King’s hospital? I can settle the bills here first," Aiden offered, but the doctor did not refuse.
This was the closest hospital to the island, so most cases treated were usually emergencies.
"Of course, they can be transferred, except...." The doctor paused, making Aiden anxious, but Nancy was even more disturbed at this moment.
"Except what?" Nancy’s voice cut through, and the doctor forced a smile. "Logan King’s condition is critical, and we have to keep him in ICU for an indefinite time."
Aiden wasn’t so saddened by this news, as it did not override Joanna’s good news. This was the first time the Kings were going to have triplets, so everyone, including the secret haters, would be so happy.
Logan sure caused a lot of havoc and deserved what he was getting, but Aiden was not sure of moving in between Alex and Joanna to come see him.
"Can he be transported too? The King’s hospital is their family hospital, and their grandpa would be worried. I don’t want him to be making the back-and-forth journey either."
There was a little hesitation, but after careful thought, the doctor agreed.
"We can make a special arrangement for him, but I’m not sure he can pull through for long, and even if he does, he might remain in a coma for a long time or even permanently."
’Well, he got what he deserved,’ Aiden thought to himself as Nancy asked, "Can we see them?"
She was eager to see only three people. Logan’s greed jeopardized many, leaving others injured.
"For Dario, yes, but for the rest, I would prefer you wait until they wake up."
"Then we can work on transporting them," Aiden suggested, and the doctor agreed.
Seeing Dario in bandages was something Nancy had never seen before. It brought out the teenager in her.
"Dario, how are you feeling?" She asked, expecting the response of a sick person, but Dario laughed. "This is nothing. The doctor said it isn’t serious, and I can be discharged today, so I will be on my way to the base."
He was just eager to help transport some of the victims to Asia after getting them sponsorship, but that would depend on whether or not they wanted to depart from their families and take on a new identity.
"The fact that you are fine doesn’t mean you should be up and about. You need to rest," Nancy suggested, and Aiden agreed.
"She’s right. You just feel alright because of the painkillers. The moment it leaves your system, you will understand."
Dario was not listening to the two concerned people, or rather, just taking their words with a pinch of salt.
"I will just ask the doctor for more. You can’t leave without me, but how is our boss and the wife? I hope Logan is dead?" He asked. Aiden smiled, unable to understand Dario at this moment. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
"You saved his life and still want him dead?"
Dario’s head lowered. He was just following orders, never intending to save Logan from his heart, but how could he disappoint his boss?
After all the sacrifice, if Logan died at the hospital, then he wouldn’t be blamed for it.
"This was all because of his greed, so he deserves what he got. He’s just lucky we are trained to kill and save lives. The boss wanted him saved."
The three laughed as Aiden updated Dario on the condition of Joanna and Alex.
"In that case, you should follow them back. Nancy and I would head to the base to take care of the rest."
Aiden did not refuse due to Dario’s stubbornness, but if things went well, then everything at the base should be taken care of within a few days or at most a week.
Reaching for his phone to dial Violet. "How are you? I’ve been trying to reach you." Violet’s voice was teary when she answered the phone, but Aiden calmed her.
"It’s okay. Everything is over, but they are being transported to the King’s Hospital. You can meet me there with grandpa."
Violet was excited but also worried and asked seriously. "Are the injuries severe? Please tell me Joan didn’t lose the baby."
Aiden explained everything to her on the phone, causing Violet’s excitement to peak. "You guys did a good job, but I think you should have left Logan to die. He endangered everyone."
It ached her that all these injuries were caused by Logan, and Aiden was still concerned for the asshole, but Aiden didn’t know how to explain it anymore.
Alex’s insisting that Logan be saved made no sense to anyone. Dario left with Nancy to take care of business, and Aiden left with the two medevac helicopters conveying the patients.
Logan’s condition was critical, so no one else was allowed with him in one helicopter, and there were three doctors accompanying him.
Aiden was grateful for the sleep at the lobby because of how much he needed the energy after they arrived at the King’s hospital.
Violet and grandpa were already there, waiting for them as the patients were received by the King’s medical team.
"Logan must not die. He has to wake up and face punishment. What a silly grandchild?" Grandpa was lamenting after Aiden explained everything to him. Violet thought otherwise, as she couldn’t believe Logan turned over a new leaf.
To her, Logan was an unchanging walking disaster that needed to be dealt with, and death would have done a good job.
"I still prefer him dead, grandpa," she countered. The old man stared at her and could not help smiling.
"No. Death is too peaceful for him," he explained, recalling all the havoc Logan had caused. At the moment, his Alex and Joanna were in this condition because of the idiot.
"Grandpa, I think Alex has a secret that would make you feel better. Both him and Joan are awake, so who do you want to see first?" Aiden asked, wondering how the old man would feel when he hears about Dion.
Even the perception of the extended family would change permanently. "I will see Adelaide first," Grandpa said. Aiden smiled as the three headed to Joanna’s ward.
"What happened? Why am I here, and where is Alex?" Joanna asked anxiously. Grandpa smiled, glad to see that she was okay.
"Calm down," he held both of her hands in his. "You need more rest than all of them for our triplets’ sake."
"Tri... what?" Joanna’s eyes were wide. This news would only be exciting if Alex was there, and recalling the state in which she saw him, so many unholy thoughts pierced her mind.
"No. I have to see Alex, I have to tell him," she tried to get off the bed, losing consciousness instantly.
"Doctor," Aiden was calling out as Violet pressed the bell by Joanna’s bedside, the doctor rushed in, urging them to leave.
"The news was too much for her," grandpa lamented sadly. It was good he had taken his medication before getting there; if not, this news would have sent him into a state of a heart attack.
"I hope she’s fine," tears welled up in his eyes, sliding down his cheek, but Aiden reminded him.
"Grandpa, why don’t we see Alex as we wait?"
Reaching Alex’s ward, he was out of control. The first person he expected to see when he woke up was Joan, and when that did not happen, he instantly knew there was a problem.
"Where is Joan? I saw her in the building before I lost consciousness. Is she okay?"
Alex looked panicked, especially when everyone hesitated before giving him any information.
Perhaps something had happened to Joan, so he had to go find her.
Quickly, he was trying to get out of his bed like Joan was doing before. When they failed to calm him, grandpa made a suggestion as soon as the doctor arrived that solved all the problems.
