POSSESSION: The Hidden Omega In All Alphas' Academy [BL]-Chapter 194: Live a little longer
Chapter 194: Chapter 194: Live a little longer
"I don’t wish to extend my stay here, Ma’am. I want to know, for how long I will be kept under observation here. My health feels a lot better than before now...so please, let me go home?"
Hearing the anxious prattle from outside Marita’s cabin when Granny Elma had gone to fetch a few fruits for her, she hurriedly walked inside the room and saw being seated on her bed by leaning against the cushion, Marita was whining at the nurse who was trying to explain to her the further treatment processes.
After Zenith transferred her into the super specialty hospital and even arranged for world-renowned cardiologist Dr. Jin to check on her, her health started to improve miraculously under the proper observation.
Just as Zenith had requested her, Granny Elma had kept everything a secret from her about all the crazy high expenses to make sure Marita wouldn’t feel overwhelmed and debt-ridden once again after learning how far Zenith had to go to save her life from the critical moment post the organ removal surgery.
Granny Elma also hid it from Marita that Zenith had also planted four men outside her cabin for her safety so that those gangster men wouldn’t come back to avenge her for the chaos that happened before.
Even though Granny Elma had come up with excuses about a charity bearing the whole cost of Marita’s treatment who helps the poor omegas in need, but as Kylian’s mother, Marita was also gifted with keen observation.
She was already getting a hunch about the lavish VIP treatment she was receiving at the hospital couldn’t possibly be carried out by any mere charity, which led her doubts to become more ambiguous when Granny Elma wasn’t also willing to share the truth with her.
Thus, Marita started whining to get released from the hospital and return home, since staying there even for one more day and thinking about the hospital bills piling up had begun to make her more anxious.
When Granny Elma walked inside the cabin with her slow steps, the nurse averted her gaze towards her and requested her to intervene, "Ma’am, could you please make her understand that she’s not supposed to get discharged soon after having such a complicated organ removal surgery? Besides, the condition of her heart still should be under strict observation of our doctor, so...she’s not supposed to return home soon!"
"I have already gotten all of my medicines and I am also able to walk slowly by holding Granny as a support. Regarding the rest of the medical check, wouldn’t it be okay to keep it up as a routine checkup?" However, Marita still sounded quite persistent when she mumbled at the nurse, making both of them exhale a heavy sigh.
"Mari, why do you want to go home anyway? You’re better off here, where your health can get better with proper treatment." fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
Granny Elma tried to persuade her in a grumpy voice which she used whenever she felt a bit vexed, but still showing no sign of accepting their words, Marita rather opposed with a grunt, "I know the charity is paying my bills but...at least I have some moral conscience with which I should take action when I am already feeling quite better than before. I can’t let any organization spend millions on a penniless, worthless old woman like me. It feels humiliating, Granny."
"Charity? Do you mean...a charity is covering your hospital bills?"
Startled at her answer, when the nurse asked her back in a curious mumble, it immediately caught Marita’s attention when she charged back, "Yes, that’s what I was told about. That...an organization who helps poor oppressed omegas has been treating my medical expenses..."
"Huh, I think there’s been some miscommuni—"
"Oh dear! Look at the time...I-It’s already past time for your evening stroll, Mari." Fearing that the nurse might blow up the lies Granny Elma was feeding her as per Zenith’s request, she quickly cut in between their conversation with her clumsy remark. Even though her uneasy expression startled Marita a bit before she could ask anything, Granny Elma almost chased the nurse outside so that she could help Marita take out on an evening stroll across the hospital hallway.
Even the nurse was baffled by her clumsy actions, but when she left the room, Granny Elma quickly fixed Marita’s disheveled hair and addressed in a curt voice, "Let’s go and walk slowly in the hallway so we can monitor if you’ve really progressed to get a discharge from here. We shouldn’t delay your stroll anymore."
"Wait...but the nurse seemed eager to tell me something, Granny—"
"Oh don’t bother about their words, Mari. Whatever she was supposed to say to you, I believe it wasn’t worthy to be remembered... So, just forget about her and concentrate on recovering." Holding Marita’s hand as her firm support, Granny Elma slowly took her outside the cabin for the stroll, with slow but steady steps.
Just walking out of the door, Marita carefully noticed those 4 giant, muscular nicely groomed men in black suits were standing outside the cabin of her room. But upon noticing her, all of them awkwardly lowered their gazes from her as they weren’t supposed to greet her or make any eye contact that might raise her suspicion, as per Zenith’s instructions.
Walking past those four men, Marita couldn’t suppress her curiosity when she asked Granny, "Who are these men? Why were they standing outside my cabin like that?"
"O-Oh, t-they must be bodyguards. Well, the hospital seems to grant special bodyguards outside the room of sick patients, so...don’t fret about that." Getting a bit fretful by her keen observation, Granny Elma tried her best to keep a smiling face outside to make her feel comfortable.
But Marita was sharp enough to take a proper look at the other cabins of the hospital and outside the door, as expected there were no other men who guarded the door, like those men who did that outside her cabin.
"But...the other cabins doesn’t seem to have bodyguards, Granny..."
"Ugh, you ask too much sometimes, Mari. Just pay attention to your own health and do not let the surroundings bother you." Unable to find an answer to her question, Granny Elma resorted to scolding her like a motherly figure while holding her hands tight.
When they reached almost the end of the long hallway, she sounded a bit anxious "Just concentrate on getting yourself better and ease Kyle’s worries for you. Mari, do you even realize how the poor child will bear the shock if he learns about what you’ve done to pay his tuition fees?"
This time Marita couldn’t oppose her words anymore and stood stoic, with a blank expression on her face.
Her ocean eyes were narrowed in guilt when she sensed a sharp pain on her surgical scar, making her murmur in a bleak voice, "Kyle...would’ve been better off without a worthless mother like me, Granny. I couldn’t even give him a fulfilled childhood, or a proper family...like other children of his age. Now, if he knows I have even sold off my organs, he would probably be repulsed by me, right? I wonder...if those gangster bastards would ever try to tell him---"
"Of course not! Are you insane to think something like this?" Granny Elma scowled at her coldly, with her wrinkled eyes curved with vexation when she cut off her sentence, "Don’t bother about those mafia pricks now. But, do you even have an idea how much that child loves and cherishes you, Mari?
"You’re his whole world...and if he ever knows about this secret...it will crush his innocent heart and he would endure the hardest agony! So, at least for your child’s sake...focus on getting better soon, Mari. You must live a long life and watch him grow up as a wise healthy man."
"You’re...right." The dim smile spread across her pale lips as Marita exhaled a big sigh, taking a seat on the wooden bench placed at the end of the long hallway. Her dull eyes shimmered with an ounce of hope when she mumbled, "My Kyle has transitioned into a strong dominant Alpha, and this news meant the whole world to me, Granny.
"All my life, I had been praying to the Holy Mother to make Kyle inherit the traits of a superior Alpha...and it feels like finally my prayers have been answered. So, even if...my health betrays me at a certain point in life...I will still be glad that my little boy would be able to survive in this cruel world by lifting his head high as an Alpha."
"Mari...don’t feel so distressed." Granny Elma gently patted her shoulder with a small huff of sigh that parted her lips, "I believe that you’ll get better in no time with the right treatment here. See, you can already comfortably walk a little. So, you’ll be able to lead a long happy life with your son, just as you had always wanted.
"Wait for me, I will bring the fruits for you which I have cut earlier, okay?"
As soon as Granny Elma left the hallway, Marita exhaled a big sigh with her glum eyes gazing outside the giant glass window. A small trembling smile curved her lips as she urged herself, ’With this ailing heart of mine...will I really be able to live a bit longer for my Kyle?’
