Chapter 54: Chapter 54: Destiny

With a bunch of Kylian’s trait result files tucked in his arms, as soon as Dr. Albert exited his chamber, he intended to go straight to the researcher hub of that hospital, to submit all the data that he had collected from Kylian, mandatory for research purposes.

Kylian’s trait as a dominant omega was already very unique, existing in only 0.01% of the population. Dr. Albert wanted to accumulate more data with the help of researchers to lead some unique discoveries that were still hidden in the secrets of the werewolf hierarchy.

But before he could cross the hallway, he bumped into Zenith in the way who was coming towards his chamber, and their sudden unexpected bump startled each of them. Zenith hurriedly rolled his gaze on Dr. Albert before taking a glance behind him when he asked, "Shouldn’t you be along with Kylian now? Where are you heading off on your own?"

"Don’t fret, he is safely resting in my chamber. I told him to cool off his head and thought of having a quick run to the research building in the meantime. But it is nice to bump into you here Zenith, because I have something important to talk to you about. In private, of course."

Dr. Albert’s voice sounded a bit tense, and without waiting for Zenith’s answer, he grabbed his arm and walked inside the spare room in the same hallway, quite deliberately.

However, it was the very first-time Zenith watched Dr. Albert acting quite uneasy, whereas most of the time he would retain his easygoing nature even in some stressful medical emergencies. As soon as they walked inside, Dr. Albert made sure to check the hallway once with his keen gaze to make sure no one was keeping a watch on them. Placing Kylian’s files on the desk near them, he locked the door and turned his gaze back on Zenith, while exhaling a heavy sigh.

"You’re acting a bit unusual, Dr. Albert. What’s wrong?" Crossing his fair muscular arms over his broad chest, Zenith asked him in a curious tone, while watching him approach close.

But Dr. Albert didn’t shake off that unsettled expression from his face when he conversed, "Look, Zenith, whatever I am going to tell you, it will be very crucial for you as well as Kylian too. I do not have any concrete proof with me right now to back up my assumption, but I have kind of figured out, why Kylian has transitioned into a dominant omega."

"Huh?" Baffled at his remark, Zenith leaned his back against a giant pillar while glowering at the doctor when he urged, "How does that have to do anything to do with me? Yes, I was right there when he got into his first transition last night, but...why would there have to be any other reason behind anyone’s first shift?"

"Yes, there must be a reason, because I am talking about Kylian here."

Dr. Albert’s voice resonated quite vibrantly inside the walls of the room, but thankfully all the rooms of the hospital were soundproof, so there weren’t any concerns about getting their words out.

Quite impatiently Dr. Albert grabbed one of the files containing Kylian’s trait result and showed Zenith some red mark points while elaborating, "Look at this. His vitals are unstable, and his genetic map doesn’t match the data we had previously obtained from other dominant omegas.

"His build, blood type, chromosome ratio, and many other important data didn’t match with the types of dominant omegas, but when I tried to compare them with some Alpha traits, I found more than a 50% match rate. That means his body was thoroughly developed and had quite a compatibility with an Alpha’s trait, Zenith."

"What?" Scruching his brows with a baffled look on his face, Zenith let out a snort while he charged him back, "How’s that supposed to be possible? He did transition into a dominant omega by awakening his ancestral omega wolf...so how could he have a compatibility ratio with the Alpha’s trait?"

"Exactly that is my concern." Exhaling a heavy sigh, Dr. Albert closed that file and put it back on the table while gazing blankly outside the glass window next to them.

There were plenty of blooming sakura trees lined around the yard of the hospital, and narrowing his gaze at the beautiful scenario, he mumbled, "But sometimes when science fails to describe certain phenomena, we can assume that only thing which never fails to defeat science...and it seems to be the same case with Kylian here as well."

"What are you talking about? Which thing?" The change of his facial expression into a cryptic one was making Zenith concerned as well as anxious, when he howled at him, "Speak coherently so I can understand, Dr. Albert."

"Destiny."

Dr. Albert’s curt answer paused Zenith for a second, as he failed to utter a word out of impatience.

While his pitch-black eyes were fixated on him, Dr. Albert averted his serious gaze back to him from outside while he narrated, "We can never win against destiny, Zenith. No matter how hard we plan to choose a path for us ahead, destiny will always have an upper hand on us. Sometimes, even science and logic fail when destiny plays its card."

"Why are you telling me all this? What do you want to imply, Dr. Albert?" Since his instincts were always very sharp, Zenith could somehow sense a trouble incoming, just by meeting his serious face.

With another big exhale, Dr. Albert rested his other hand to hold the wall as a support when he answered Zenith in a deep, hefty voice, "I know what I am about to tell might infuriate you, Zenith. But...I had to let you know this.

"I know you are still young, and initially, I thought to keep this assumption away from you but I figured it out you must be aware of it, at least. It is still my assumption, and not proven yet, but—"

"FUCK, JUST TELL ME WHAT’S THE MATTER!?" freēwēbnovel.com

But quite loudly intervening his words, Zenith couldn’t hide his raging impatience anymore, while brushing up his hair bangs above his forehead when he quoted, "Just tell me the truth, please! Your speculations are driving me crazy now, Dr. Albert."

"Kylian...I think...Kylian is your fated mate, Zenith."

Dr. Albert pursed his lips tight, and Adam’s apple moved with a nervous gulp when he muttered those words while staring deep into his eyes.

"It might be possible that...he wouldn’t have necessarily transitioned into an omega...if he hadn’t met you. You were the only one whose pheromones affected him, among all the other Alphas present there, Zenith. So, it might be very possible that my assumption is correct."

"Wait...w-what?" Followed by a stunned silence between them, Zenith’s curious face immediately turned dark with a disdainful gaze in his eyes towards the doctor. His expression turned pale as if his breath was hitched, he repeated, "Fated mate...Kylian?"

"I do know very well what must be going on inside your mind at this moment, Zenith."

However, as soon as Dr. Albert squeezed those words out, he approached close to Zenith and tried to comfort him in a deliberate tone, "I know how much you despise the term of ’fated mates’...and I am also aware of the possibility of an Alpha finding an Omega as it’s fated mate has a chance of less than 2% among the population. But still, I do strongly feel there is a connection between you and Kylian that goes way beyond fate—"

"Just give me a fuckin’ minute to process everything!" However, Zenith’s low deep grunt trailed off his words, making Dr. Albert gaze worriedly at him.

He saw Zenith’s face turning darker with each passing second, along with a pain-stricken gaze evident in his onyx eyes, he grumbled, "Fated mate? Hah, I refuse to accept such a bullshit tag from you. Those fuckin’ things do not exist in the first place...this can never be possible... It must be one of your silly jokes again..."

"Zenith, please try to calm down a little—"

"AND YOU KNEW HOW MUCH I FUCKIN’ DESPISE THIS SHITTY PHRASE!"

When Dr. Albert tried to pat Zenith on his shoulder, he yanked his hand away with a strong jolt, while gritting his jaws at him. His dark pupils had transformed into bright red in color, depicting his fiery rage as a dominant Alpha when he glared at him.

"I HATED THE MENTION OF FATED MATES MORE THAN ANYTHING IN THIS WORLD! I DON’T WANT TO BELIEVE IN SUCH NONSENSE...AND...EVEN IF WHAT YOU ARE SAYING IS EVEN A FUCKIN’ PERCENT TRUE, THEN IT SEEMS I SHOULD JUST DESPISE KYLIAN AS WELL!"

"Zenith...what are you even saying? That boy has nothing to do with this—"

"NO...IF...IF HE DID REALLY TRANSITION INTO A FUCKIN’ OMEGA BECAUSE OF ME, IF KYLIAN BEARS THE LABEL AS MY DAMN FATED PAIR, THEN IT SERVES RIGHT TO STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM HIM FROM NOW ONWARDS, RIGHT?"

A painful yet furious sneer curved his red lips when Zenith grunted aloud, sensing as if his canines were about to descend from his upper jaws. He clenched his fist and proceeded to walk away towards the door, aiming to leave the conversation right there as he asserted.

"You know what, I don’t even want to fuckin’ know anything anymore. I shouldn’t have brought him here to the hospital in the first place... Yes...I should haven’t helped him with my pheromones last night as well! I should have just stayed away from him... Yes, everything’s my fuckin’ fault, so I will just leave from here—"

"KYLIAN MIGHT DIE, YOU FREAKIN’ IDIOT!

"DON’T RUN AWAY FROM HERE WHEN I HAVEN’T FINISHED SPEAKING YET!"

But hearing Dr. Albert’s loud helpless howl paused Zenith’s steps, making his heart thump faster with a deep surge of fear inside him, "W-What?"
