Chapter 232: What really happened [2]
It wasn’t that long after the two of them pinpointed the date and time of Morris’s little excursion. Lilith couldn’t avert her gaze from the image of Christopher’s haggard image along with his frail and pitiful form. Though it was short, she felt concerned about his well-being until her focus shifted from hearing his irritable tone of voice

"We’re here, remember once we’re near the memory you’ll be locked off from any form of communication. This is one of the reasons why I can’t let you off my sight... the other is that heart-wrenching past you eagerly want to go back to from time to time. Well then off you go, I’ll be here at your back," He loosens his grip shortly after they appear to be standing in one of the Mad Alchemist’s secret workshop
"Hold on... you’re not coming? You just said you’ll guide me, whatever happened with that?" Her freedom was both receiving and yet full of distress once she felt the strong influence of the world upon Morris’s release
"It’s not a memory I’d like to see, but I guess there isn’t even a choice. How the hell did you even survive in this world? You can’t even handle this much, oh boy, no wonder you got manipulated by the alchemist. Quit acting like a pain and I’ll loosen my grip. Just so you know I’m doing this to circulate my mana in an attempt of stabilizing your condition," His energy later engulfed her body and mind, she could feel its effects and the strain she had to put up was no longer present
"Wait... that took a toll on my body. Give me a minute to catch my breath—" Without a doubt, she predicted his carefree manner and she felt the need to cover her eyes
The entrance felt like a rabbit hole the ending revealed to spark brightly with a brilliant light and memories of his seeped out. At the end of their journey, she awakens to see an angle from the inside of the workshop, and her body grew accustomed to its nature. She jumps after she notices the loneliness of her hand as she strays away from Morris
"Don’t worry about it, we’re currently in one of the stable spaces of the shattered memories... in this place, even someone like you wouldn’t have a hard time and eventually overcome its influence. But I gotta say, this is the worst angle, I’d like it if were a little close to the entrance, but this is fine," The both of them appeared from the viewpoint of the enemy where they’ll likely have a glimpse of the horror they’ll soon attain freёnovelkiss.com
"What’s wrong are you full of regrets? Does seeing the tormented faces of the people you once killed fill your head with nightmares? I guess villains have their fair share of troubles, hmmmp! Serves you right—"
"What are you talking about? I’m not the one coming here, like I said he is coming... I don’t mean that as addressing myself in a third-person perspective. My most diabolical personality, cold and calculative, a bloodthirsty and ferocious player going by Spell Thief!" At the end of his outrageous introduction, the walls of the workshop came flying and signs of his arrival came to be known
"Run! Oh shit, oh shit, oh shit!! It’s Spell Thief!!?" From the ashes of the unlikely followers, he appears in the sea of flames with an unfazed state
"Greetings, I seem to have come across a bunch of pests in my evening stroll... but isn’t this a surprise, why is it that I always met with you fuckers? Perhaps you lots are tired of living!" There was something different, normally he’d spout a joke or two but the version they saw was relentless
Lilith lose the strength of her feet and there she saw pure unbridled horror happening with her eyes. It never felt like a human but a monster without any sense of remorse and the goal of mass destruction. On the other hand, Morris was munching on some popcorn and sat comfortably on a stack of the carcasses
"Personality alteration... I don’t have any guilt when it comes to killing, but my combat focus personality or "Spell Thief" is a different matter. Cold, calculating, and relentless, he’s a true gamer. For him, this massacre is just a game, once im fully immersed it feels like im playing a virtual game of sorts,"
She continues to tremble from his remarks and asked for a deeper explanation. "W-what do you mean...? Spell Thief, isn’t you but a man-made personality? That doesn’t make any sense,"
"I kinda get where you’re coming from. Simply put Spell Thief is your friendly neighborhood Christopher Morris without the corny jokes. Spell Thief is based on my insanity. What better way of having perfect mental health than taking that away and making a separate file? Enough about me, how bout you enjoy the show. I think this is the scene where hell arrives!" He said and continues shoving dozens of popcorn in his mouth and the two await the villain’s arrival
"No way! It can’t be... isn’t that, Kross? How is he alive? I thought you ordered me to kill him? How is this possible—Mmmp!" Her lips were soon manhandled by his grip after he loses his patients and starts to use a little bit of his strength
"Can’t you just watch? That’s not hard, isn’t it? You’ll get the answers if you keep on watching, and don’t disturb me! I might look like this but im hella pissed, so don’t test me!" Silence filled the entirety of the shattered space and soon the memory played off to his request
"Would you look at this! The last vassal of the Mad Alchemist, or should I former? I heard you fuckers were kicked after Theodore met his unfortunate end. Speaking of which, you’re on my naughty list, you’ve been a very bad boy!!" Their battle soon went full circle after the end of his sentence which results in a brilliant explosion
"You have to do better than that!" It seems that Kross managed to evade his sneak attack once he realized how talkative he became
The awakening of his monster cells defended his body from the shock and he closes in for the kill. Claws straight, imbued with an absurd amount of mana whilst his enemy was mid-air. He took the singular chance he had to win but in doing so he fell for Morris’s wicked trap. He conjures a copy of himself on the ground which manipulated their environment and came to be the domain of ice
"Glacial array... pillar barrage!"
A structure made of pure ice came in front of his target and knock him off bound and landed on the ground. He was later met with dozens of barrages and the manifestation of Glacial golems with such disadvantageous land affecting his moves. After the end of countless attacks from his side, he manages to fend for his life, but that all changes with a single shadow. On top of the pillars imprisoning him was a being who descended forth with a gauntlet on his hand
"Basic martial arts, Destructive palm!!!"
With every form of escape blocked Kross’s only option was to await the inevitable impact of his raging fist. The impact sends vibrations from the ground reaching a mile away and the workshop later fell to ruins. The last haven for the followers was no more and what stood between their escapes was the masked menace himself. He never showed any signs of hesitation and cast a gigantic ball of fire aimed at the remaining players
"I won’t... let you! Even if I have to die, right here and now, I’ll stand back up. Everyone, fall back immediately!! I’ll take care of him— Blruagh!!" The moment he stood bleeding from his injuries came to be his undoing for it only opened the wounds Morris had inflicted

"Let go of lord Kross!" He turns and faces the trembling followers in his back with their weapons undefeated filled to the brim with fear and yet standing with all their might
Even though this view was quite a handful, Morris reminds smiling once he arranged the perfect outcome. "Sigh... this is so lame, do you think you have a chance against me? The chance of winning a lottery is higher than you fuckers having the chance of hurting me. Plus I have a hostage, do what I said and he’ll live, drop your weapons and follow me,"
The memories faded away and before she gets her answer she pulls on Morris’s shirt and annoyed him to proceed. "Hey, what the hell was that for? You didn’t even finish it there? Is there more to it huh? Tell me or the deals off, I said that I’ll do my end of the contract once im satisfied,"
’Grrrh! She’s pretty good at getting on my nerve, well I can’t kill her since she’s become a prized member of the mercenary group. It’ll just be a pain in the ass if I kept this stretched out. Might as well get it over with so we can move on,’
After that, they traveled to yet another rabbit hole in search of the memory Lilith was eager to uncover for herself
