Chapter 251: Mechanical fortress [3]
Like a prominent Chinese general once said act tough when you’re weak and act weak when you’re strong. Wise words indeed, he could’ve published a book and I’ll tell ya it would’ve sold for tons. Anyway let’s get back to the fight, it’s been so long since I talked to you guys so I dropped by
[Why aren’t you killing them?]
It’s been an hour long and yet not a single change in the battle would ever arise on each side of the map. The singular that mysteriously became untouchable to anyone that ever dared to harm his existence and the army of light. Gabriel and his brigades did everything in their power but to no avail did their attacks ever seem to land their shot
’... allow me to explain, Sage. You see the ’Field of misfortune’ is an ongoing skill that remains active as long as my life is threatened. Anything in my radius gets their luck stolen and makes them lose any form of positive probability. Now let me ask you if they die and their souls are no longer where does the luck I kept stealing go?’
[So it’s a stalemate...?]
"Pretty much– Urgghh!!" Morris was taken aback as Gabriel finally succeeded in reaching his neck for the longest time he failed
[System: Your enemy succeeded in pulling the slim chance of a probability where you’ll get caught in his grasp!!]
Gabriel takes this moment with his all and in his unoccupied hand, he calls for his divine weapon in desire of impaling his chest. He perfectly aligned his spear and with just a thrust everything including his humiliation, standing, and rage ceased to exist. Just a little more and the tip of his spear would’ve struck, unfortunately, he’s struck by a randomly falling metal pipe
"Ouch! That’s gotta fucking hurt, man. You had and for some reason, it seems you have no sense of luck. Are you seriously one of the seven archangels? You can’t even kill me, a machine in the figure of demons, the very being you loathe,"
As Morris landed near his spot, he took the liberty of removing the pipe before he prepared for a flawlessly circulated charge. The amount of mana and chi radiating from his palms as the harmonic rhythm of concurrence grew in his favor. He swung his fist forward resulting in what may have been a powerful blow in ending the life of an archangel
"That’s enough!"
[System: An area before you have been affected by the Azrael heavenly virtue of [Patience]. The virtue has taken effect on the area, anything inside will be hindered and weakened. Anything that opposes the virtue will have their actions negated and ultimately erased from existence]
His rage-filled attack was stopped before it came close to annihilating the life of Gabriel the angel of diligence. "Gabriel, we’re leaving..."
The majestic virtue turns his back as Gabriel escapes the brink of death, whilst leaving Morris frozen in place. "We’re not gonna kill him? Azrael, what are you doing!!? We could easily kill him right here and now,"
Azrael turns and faces Gabriel’s gaze and he replies by giving him a friendly reminder. "Try it if you can, my virtue allows me to manipulate a space where all violence will be mitigated. I’ve almost drained my power just to spare your life, if the volume of my applied power were weaker than his attack you would’ve died. He’s currently in a frozen state, my virtue only hinders him, it’s only a matter of time until he escapes,"
He swallowed his brother’s words as he looked back and saw the menacing smile impaired on the devilish chunk of metal. He noticed that his body was slowly moving forward and his eyes never blinked only he stood before an immovable force. His battalion followed Azrael as they needn’t risk their lives in a fight with no gain and with nothing left he disappeared
"God damn it!!" He was instantly released from the virtue of patience and he pounded the ground in his frustration
[I knew there was a catch. So it seems that the effects of ’Field of Misfortune’ only work on a limited range. That Azrael fellow might have caught up with your little trick, or maybe he wasn’t here, to begin with. He said something along the lines of retreating but I didn’t feel any lies from his tone of voice]
"Does that mean?"
[I think there’s a possibility that their plans had failed... further beyond this point I can feel something. An ore that evicts both Heavenly aura and Demonic energy, it’s similar to the world tree. It may have something to do with the arrival of the apostles of both good and evil]
"There were demons as well?"
[Well you were too preoccupied with facing the virtue of diligence and had no time to get a quick view. In your fight, I saw countless scattered carcasses stemming from the demonic race... however, it seems their numbers were close to foot soldiers, meaning they didn’t have a chance. But if I were you I won’t be listening to me babble about useless things and move your ass. Aren’t you the one saying over and over again that this is a time-limited quest?]
His deities’ reminder made him rush to the end of the path. Countless remains both from the angels and demons were scattered as the eye could see. He saw a gigantic vault-like door that had similar traits to the branches of the world tree. It negates his energy and releases him of his madness. But just like the rest he wasn’t able to walk closer as their gap diminished he felt weakened even to stand on his feet
[Morris you need to rest, that beating you took did a number on you... the amount of demonic energy purged from your body was critical. If any more is expelled you’ll die. I’m not joking okay? So stop, we can rest for a little bit, it doesn’t have to be now]
"What makes you say that?"
He pushed through as the immense force of the door pushed him away. He could feel the remainder of his demonic energy leaving his side along with the darkening of his vision. But he never backed down. Even when facing what may perhaps be his undoing he refused to kneel until he reached its surface and said
"Makino!!!"
[System: You’ve triggered the true meaning behind the clue ’Say Makino’?
Status: The vault has opened, and you are no longer targeted by the contents of the vault ƒreewebɳovel.com
Outcome: Your divinity is rapidly forming as you leave the range of the vault, and your vision is slowly recovering]
When he opened his eyes Morris wondered if there was a mistake, there wasn’t anything but a field of white stretching as the eye could see. But the system never once failed him as it said that he succeeded. And was later confirmed when a silhouette appeared before him. A man with no respective features except for the large bag under his eye. A lifeless stare, a figure resembling a man, with his cold exterior, every manner spells him to strike the stage of rock bottom
"Wow! Just wow... I never thought you’d arrive so early. I estimated you’d appear maybe nearing the end of the event. Apologize if I came out to be rude, allow me to introduce myself," He stands up to greet the person before him and the moment he meets his eyes his body unknowingly feels shaken
"I am the creator of the Ex-Machina series, Excelion De Makino. It’s nice to meet the creator of this world... I think we should celebrate won’t you agree Christopher Morris?" He froze as he never once told this memory of a figure his name nonetheless talk or spoken to him once and yet he knows
"Don’t be shaken, you just thought I’d be a hidden boss just like that Vandrake fucker in the 2nd trial? Seeing that confused expression confirms my assumption, no need to worry. I am but a data,"
"Data?"
"Now this is where it gets all weird... the reason why I know you is because the creator the ’Me’ died long ago. In a resort to forever immortalize himself, he copied his consciousness. So to say im, not an Npc that has his voice line recorded to interact. My consciousness is connected to the Ex-Machina series, I called you here because you’re in danger!"
"I’m in danger?"
Makino pointed at his chest and brought out his familiars along with Diabolous who remained asleep. Morris was stunned in place as Diabolous’s core was secreting malicious demonic energy through his soul. He looks back at Makino as he tampered with Diabolous until his parts scattered and in the middle revealing his unusually radiating core
"Diabolus Ex-Machina... he’s badly damaged. You might have changed the flow of history but in the original timeline, the angels took Deus and broke Diabolous. The core which stores the fragment of the darkness of the evil deities is broken,"
"So what’s the reason you’re telling me all of this exactly?" He says with an irritating tone after he’s been only fed more mysteries than answers
"Straight to the point as I predicted... I knew I’d like you the moment Diabolus became a part of you. Did you feel angry, uncontrolled emotions piling up? Slowly but surely. Diabolous Ex-Machina is corrupting you, and if not treated whether you like it or not you’ll be corrupted,"
After everything he says Morris is one step away from unsheathing his blade and pointing his malice towards Makino. "... calm the hell down! Like I said im not your enemy. The reason why I know so much about you is because the ’Data’ of Makino was implemented in both Deus and Diabolus. The moment you linked with Diabolus I managed to uncover your identity oh dear author,"
"Not buying it..." He was about to swing his blade but before he could do so he was threatened
"... okay, you want proof? Want me to tell you every one of your browser histories? I possess all of them ranging from your childhood until adul–"
"I believe you..."
Makino was relieved and yet quite shaken when his mood suddenly calmed down in a matter of seconds. "... okay moving on,"
