Chapter 254: Ex Makino [3]

"... processing coding has been received! The current environment is peculiar, with visuals up and running. Oh my. Greetings biological organism, I am patch 00000.1 Diabolus Ex Machina are you perhaps my father?" The first successful awakening of Diabolus was simple and rather vague whilst he greeted Makino with utmost joy

"Don’t you dare call me father, daddy, and not even papa, cuz I never fuck any woman to create you! I’m warning you if that title doesn’t change so help me I’ll put a screw on your mother drive!"

"Professor Excelion that isn’t how you should talk to a child!"

"Child my ass! I’ve been working on these two’s programs for decades. They can’t even compare to a child. However, their reaction is quite mechanical, my arcane coding allows them to adapt. Even if we die these two will slowly but surely reach a level of intelligence and act like any mortal being,"

Lucius was happy whilst the creator himself was quite possibly offended and threatened his creation the moment it spoke

"Hostility detected! Altering relationship pattern... the former title of the creator has been completely discarded. What shall I call my oh-so-glorious creator, scanning indicates your explosive manner. Possible names are; Crackhead, Jackass, and dead beat-" It wouldn’t be weird if the golem that’ll later be the mischievous Diabolus never came to be influenced by the deities

"Professor put down that metal pipe!" Lucius pleaded with Makino whilst he saw Diabolus flexibly evading his swings in such a manner many would deem brilliant

[So that golem was devilish at birth?]

’What surprising about that Sage? We’ve seen him work and tinker with what he calls the Ex-Machina core. A sphere made of the strongest elements strong enough to harbor a god’s divinity. The gods went a little overboard with adding so much that Makino had to recalibrate the maximum output,’

"Ahahahahaha! What’s wrong creator? Can’t catch a single one of your creations. Come get me, crackhead, blegh!!!" Diabolus sticks out his tongue and his manner slowly adapts to mimic a brat in need of his father’s attention

’Now this kind of makes sense, this past... it’s maybe a decade before the timeline I got sent to when I brute-force my way into the world tree. It’s already been solved when I met that guy Lucius, but what exactly do I need to know? This is too confusing. If the original timeline had Diabolus fighting the angels then it’s no wonder why he’s broken. The only reason I won is because I have his function, but if he’s overpowered then this timeline doesn’t have the field of misfortune,’

[Did you figure it out?]

As Sage asked his avatar, Morris ventured far from the memories and went to the bustling ruinous city. He ran everywhere from the back to its center even going so far as to run from the entrance before this fortress gained legs. The unusual feeling of dejavu exponentially grows till he heard of the clock tower and veered his way and saw a particular sight

[Sweet mother of omens is that really?]

"The Imperial capitals clock tower,"

That landmark was what he chose when he desires to see the carnage of Kyo Min-soo up close and the time he stole the princess. But what happened next surprises him the most, he’s transported from the ground he stood to the clock tower. The far edge of this temporally crafted world dematerializes along with the beeping confirmation from the system

[System: You’ve successfully cleared Makino’s trial! The restriction placed on the player is broken. You can now converse with the sealed golem Diabolus Ex Machina]

"Took you long enough," Morris shifted his gaze and saw Diabolus in a form currently bound in chains and dangling at the tower

"Diabolus?" What may have been a heartfelt reunion was ruined when this machine proceeded in dissing his current master

"Do you know how long I waited? You took forever to get into this fucking landmark. I had to watch you browse through years of memories. You were so focused on Makino’s life even though you said you felt something odd... but still, you kept watching him!" Diabolus angrily greeted his master till his ears could hardly hear anything but his frantic screams

"I heard from Makino that the time here is slowed down, I was taking my time. You wouldn’t know if there’s a clue in his memories. But this clue is kind of confusing, normally you’ll assume it’s the person and not the place, so im sorry," After the tower was the only thing left the dematerialization stopped, and were greeted by Makino

"Great job, I never thought you’ll find out, but here we are. I know you have some answers and I can tell you pieced it together. That whole attack was orchestrated by the gods above. No matter how much I adjust Diabolus’s demonic energy it was just too much, so they had no choice," He showed the reality of what arises from the thousand years in the form of footage that appealed before them

Christopher Morris saw the invasion of the angels and their gruesome path and carnage in breaching the mechanical fortress. Countless lives lay waste in a wave of their hands, every personnel working on the project including was murdered. Diabolus although empowered by the powers of the evil deities fell prey in the flick of a switch. The angels found in Makino’s corpse a device that allows both Deus and Diabolus in a forced slumber and they attack

"After tearing Diabolus they made their escape before the entities could ever destroy their very existence. They took the nearly finished Deus and what was left of Diabolus was a functional core without a vessel. The defeat of the 6 princes of hell made Lucifer and the other demons retreat and seek refuge and build their power,"

"How did Diabolis turn into a demon?"

"I’m getting there!!!" Makino angrily replied

"Ahem, the imbalance of the demon faction requires the evil deities to settle for a loss but not before a last-ditch effort. The perfectly preserve core and what’s left of Diabolus’s body were revived and the missing parts were replaced with flesh and blood. This resulted in the birth of the strongest demon, the epitome of darkness, the thorn of angels, the one and only Demon King,"

"Wait wait wait can you give me a sec? This whole origin story is one big piece of info dump. I need to write this down-"

"Will you just listen!!!" He knew that was the last draw before Makino would eject him even before he heard every single detail

"As for why you weren’t able to gather the pieces of Diabolus you were missing the most important piece. In the normal ending, that thing you found in the treacherous peak is the holy sword. That is the gear that holds mostly everything in Diabolus’s pieces and acts like a magnet to draw them near,"

"So what you’re trying to say is that the holy sword was never a weapon and a missing piece? That’s the reason why it killed the Demon King, the insane purity it holds could expel the core’s demonic energy. And because it’s a significant piece the angels knew they need to separate that from the rest," He said as Makino clapped signifying his accurate guess

[System: You’re no longer on the path of the normal ending. Everything after this will be a series of events that’ll test the player. All you need to do is get captured and the true ending will slowly unfold]

"Captured? Can’t I just go when I got the chance? Why the hell do I have to get caught? Hey Makino, answer me, can’t you do something about this?" Morris tightens the grip of his hands on Makino’s shoulder and refuses to accept the system’s effect which kept his body at bay

"I said what I need to say, you can’t do anything, just like me... didn’t I tell you im just a recorded memory inside my creations, the Ex-Machina series. It’s up to you, but maybe not, at the very least you’re not the only demon. I can tell you even at this moment someone trying to keep you from dying but their efforts are worthless," His body begins to dematerialize, and both his creation and its wielder were baffled by the result

"Makino..."

"I told you, didn’t I? The reason why you got so much time was because you didn’t let the angels kill me... for what’s it worth I never regretted ever picking this choice. If I chose my fiancee I might have been a boring old man with a kid or two but I never thought of being a father. Make this story work," He completely vanished and Diabolus was unchained but even if he awakened in time a pillar of light disintegrated the world tree

"No!!!"

As Jin’s eyes came to be riddled with horror he felt no loss of his lover’s presence along with his friend but never did he recover. Afloat the burning tree lies a silhouette of a man harboring the power of the heavens whilst its face was undeniably made of metal. They watch as not a single soul could ever reach in time and it vanished and the rallying giants came to an end
