Chapter 50: "Mr Victor"

Ethan sat silently at the breakfast table with his father. The morning felt heavier than usual. Victor sipped his coffee, eyeing his son before finally speaking.

Victor: "What’s wrong, Ethan? You called me so early. And I’m very upset with you—you didn’t attend the board meeting yesterday."

Ethan looked up, his face void of any expression.

Ethan: "Dad... why are you doing this to me?"

Victor paused, his gaze sharp.

Victor: "What are you talking about?"

Ethan (calm but hurt): "You arranged my meeting with that model, Tiara. You manipulated Miles—made it look like I was dating her. You buried me in company work so I couldn’t spend time with him."

Victor (coldly): "Son, what are you saying?"

Ethan (voice cracking with frustration): "Don’t pretend like you don’t know. I thought you were finally happy about our relationship, but now... you’re just trying to separate us with these cheap tricks."

Victor’s eyes narrowed.

Victor: "Did that boy put these ideas in your head?"

Ethan’s face fell with disappointment. His voice lowered, but it cut like a blade.

Ethan: "Enough, Dad. I’m tired of this."

He stood from his seat.

Ethan: "Next week, I’m marrying Miles. I’d feel happy if you came and wished me well..."

Victor: "Ethan—"

But Ethan didn’t turn back. Without another word, he walked away, leaving Victor speechless at the table.

At College ____

Miles and Kai sat in their usual spots in class, the morning light pouring through the windows. Kai glanced at Miles, noticing his odd mood.

Kai: "Hey, Miles... why were you acting weird yesterday?"

Miles (quietly): "Just some misunderstanding."

Kai raised an eyebrow.

Kai: "What kind of misunderstanding?"

Miles sighed.

Miles: "I thought Ethan was in a relationship with a girl, so I got... but it wasn’t like that. Ethan explained everything."

Kai rolled his eyes and sighed.

Kai: "Miles, you are such a dumb idiot sometimes."

Miles (playfully): "Kai..."

Just then, Eden approached with a soft smile.

Eden: "Hey, guys."

Kai: "Hey, Eden."

Eden took a seat beside them and looked curious.

Eden: "What were you two talking about?"

Kai (smirking): "Just talking about Miles’ jealousy."

Miles quickly looked down, trying to avoid eye contact.

Eden: "What do you mean?"

Kai (teasing): "Miles thought his boyfriend was dating a girl, got all jealous. But it wasn’t true, Ethan explained everything."

Miles (embarrassed): "Shut up, Kai."

Eden smiled, but deep inside, his chest tightened with jealousy. Seeing Miles talk about Ethan like that made something ache inside him. Kai stood up, stretching.

Kai: "Alright, I need to go to the restroom. You two behave."

He walked off, leaving Eden and Miles in silence. Miles kept avoiding Eden’s gaze. After a moment, Eden finally spoke.

Eden: "Miles... I know you remember everything from that night when you were drunk. You weren’t blacked out."

Miles hesitated, then slowly lifted his gaze to meet Eden’s eyes.

Miles: "I’m sorry, Eden. I didn’t mean to do that. I was drunk."

Eden (softly): "It’s okay, Miles. You’re my friend. I’m not angry with you. So... don’t ignore me, alright?"

Miles smiled, a bit of the guilt lifting from his chest.

Miles: "Thanks, Eden. You’re my best friend."

Eden smiled back, even though a piece of him quietly wished he could be something more.

Ethan stood near the large office window, phone in one hand and a list in the other.

Ethan (to his secretary): "Arrange the wedding venue exactly how I told you. And don’t forget the flowers—pink ones. Miles likes pink flowers, so I want all the decorations in pink."

Secretary: "Yes, sir. I’ll take care of everything."

The secretary left quickly, and Ethan picked up his phone again, dialing a familiar number. Bast answered after a couple of rings.

Bast: "Yeah?"

Ethan: "Where are you?"

Bast (calmly): "In my office, like usual. Why are you asking so suddenly?"

Ethan took a deep breath, rubbing his temple.

Ethan: "I’ve decided. I’m getting married next week."

There was a short pause on the other end before Bast replied.

Bast: "Did Mr. Victor do something again?"

Ethan let out a quiet sigh.

Ethan: "Yeah. Dad’s still playing cheap tricks. He arranged some meeting with a model, trying to make it look like I’m dating her. All just to mess things up between me and Miles."

Bast: "Then you’re making the right decision. Does Miles know yet?"

Ethan: "Not yet. I’m going to tell him tonight."

Bast: "Then how about dinner together? All of us?"

Ethan smiled a little.

Ethan: "Sounds like a good idea."

Bast ended the call with Ethan and leaned back in his chair, a thoughtful look on his face.

Bast (to himself): "Looks like Mr. Victor needs a little shock... Let’s give him one."

He pressed the intercom.

Bast (to his secretary): "Arrange a lunch meeting with Mr. Victor. Make it quick."

Secretary: "Yes, sir."

As the line disconnected, Bast picked up his phone and dialed another number. After a few seconds, Jeff answered.

Jeff: "Hello, sir?"

Bast: "Have you collected all the data I asked for on Mr. Victor?"

Jeff: "Yes, sir. I’ve gathered everything."

Bast: "Good. You can take a break now—you’ve been working hard these past few days."

Jeff (with a slight chuckle): "It’s my duty, sir."

Bast: "Alright. Send me everything right now."

Jeff: "Understood. I’ll send it over immediately."

Bast ended the call. His expression shifted, a slow smirk spreading across his lips.

At the lunch meeting, Bast and Victor sat across from each other at a private table.

Victor smiled and said,

Victor: "Bast, it’s been a long time. You still look like a young man—haven’t changed a bit."

Bast gave a polite smile.

Bast: "But Mr. Victor, you’ve changed a lot. Maybe I just didn’t see your real face before."

Victor’s smile faded.

Victor: "Bast, what are you talking about?"

Bast leaned forward slightly.

Bast: "Mr. Victor, why are you using cheap tricks to try and separate Ethan and Miles?"

Victor chuckled and took a sip of his wine.

Victor: "You really asked me here just to talk about them? What a waste of time."

Bast’s smile turned cold.

Bast: "Yes, it’s a huge waste of time. So let me get straight to the point—you abused Miles, Mr. Victor."

Victor’s expression darkened.

Victor: "What the hell are you saying? You think you can disrespect me like that and Ethan will forgive you?"

Bast kept calm, his voice sharp.

Bast: "You think this is disrespect? Honestly, I want to punch you. But you’re lucky—I’m controlling myself."

Victor glared at Bast. Bast calmly reached into his coat, took out his phone, and placed it on the table.

Bast: "Please, Mr. Victor, have a look."

Victor looked at the screen. A video began to play—explicit footage of Victor having sex with a man. His eyes widened in shock.

Bast smiled faintly.

Bast: "Looks like a porn video, doesn’t it? Affairs with women, men... quite the reputation. If this goes viral—your business, your respect, your image—it’s all over."

Victor clenched his fists.

Victor: "What do you want?"

Bast leaned back, crossing his arms.

Bast: "Tell Ethan everything you did to Miles. Apologize to Miles. It’s a simple task."

Victor hissed,

Victor: "What the hell—how can I possibly do that?"

Bast stood up slowly.

Bast: "Fine. Then I’ll make you famous, Mr. Victor. You’ll go viral... in the worst way."

Victor immediately stood up from his seat and said in a tense voice,

Victor: "Wait, Bast! I’ll do what you say. Just... delete that video."

Bast chuckled, tilting his head slightly.

Bast: "Mr. Victor, you know I’m a good trader."

Victor hesitated, his face tense.

Victor: "I’ll tell Ethan... but can you give me some time?"

Bast’s voice turned cold.

Bast: "Nope. Tell Ethan everything—tomorrow. I’m already tired of your bloody face. Tell him the truth, and then leave the country."

Victor looked down, defeated.

Victor: "Okay... I’ll do it. But please, don’t make that video public."

Bast smirked.

Bast: "Mr. Victor, it’s a masterpiece. I’ll keep it in my personal safety vault. Don’t worry—no one will see it... unless they need to."

Victor didn’t say a word. His face turned pale, the color draining from him. He looked like a doomed old man who had finally lost the war.

Bast straightened his coat and gave a small smile.

Bast: "Okay then. Have a good day, Mr. Victor."

Without another glance, Bast walked away—calm, composed, and victorious.

Victor sat there in silence, his hands clenched into fists on the table. His mind raced, searching for a way out of the corner Bast had trapped him in. Then, suddenly, a twisted smile crept across his face.

He grabbed his phone and made a call.

Victor (coldly): "I’ll send you a picture of a kid and his location. Kidnap him. Take him to the usual place."

After ending the call, he leaned back in his chair with a dark chuckle.

Victor (to himself): "Bast... you’ll regret what you did. Soon, you’ll be on your knees, begging in front of me... for your kid."
