Spy-x-War Showdown-Chapter 32 - 31 Don’t Leave Me Behind
32: Chapter 31 Don’t Leave Me Behind
32 -31 Don’t Leave Me Behind
The hotel was right above the fancy restaurant, and Danny had somehow managed to operate without a hitch, so when three people carried in an obviously unwell woman into a room, no one even asked a single question before letting them get her inside.
Yang Yi was exhausted, tired, and extremely tense.
Now having relaxed a bit, he really wanted to get some good sleep, but he couldn’t, because if he went to sleep, there would be no one to take care of Kate.
Kate couldn’t go to the hospital.
Apart from the fact that her gunshot wound would mean a series of troubles once in a hospital, the problem was that leaving this place could very well mean getting killed immediately.
Kate, even in her slumber, was actually still very beautiful.
Waiting for the plasma and fluids to finish transfusing, Yang Yi removed the needle from Kate and finally could lie down on the bed and rest for a moment.
He only wanted to close his eyes, but the moment he did, he almost instantly fell into a deep sleep.
Yang Yi was sleeping soundly until he was awakened by a very soft voice.
Still in a state of flight, no matter how exhausted or sleepy Yang Yi was, he wouldn’t fall into a deep sleep.
“Don’t leave me behind…”
Yang Yi opened his eyes, vigorously rubbed his sore eyes, and then he saw Kate with her eyes open.
Yang Yi quickly climbed down from the bed and walked over to Kate’s bedside, whispering, “You’re awake, how do you feel?”
“It hurts a bit, what happened to me, where are we?”
“In a hotel.
You’ve just had surgery and now you’re safe, don’t worry.”
Kate’s gaze was a bit unfocused as she stared blankly at Yang Yi for a while, then a sudden, faint redness flushed over her otherwise extremely pale face, and like she had made up her mind, she said in a low voice, “I need to go to the bathroom.”
Yang Yi was stunned, then he quickly said, “Ah, but you definitely can’t get out of bed right now, oh, I understand, just give me a moment.”
Yang Yi began looking for something suitable to use as a bedpan.
Some things are embarrassing to talk about, troublesome to do, but they still have to be done.
Now, there was no one but Yang Yi to take care of Kate, so whether he liked it or not, he had to do it.
There were not even two basins in the hotel room; Yang Yi really didn’t know what to do.
Just as he was sweating bullets in a panic, he heard Kate say in a low voice, “I can’t hold it much longer…”
The hotel wasn’t a hospital, the guest rooms were not wards, and Yang Yi was certainly not a nurse.
Yang Yi thought about carrying Kate to the bathroom, but when he lifted the sheet covering Kate and saw the freshly stitched wound on her abdomen, he didn’t dare; if the wound reopened, that would be a big problem.
“I’ll get you a bottle…”
“No, just help me to the bathroom.
I think I can move.”
Yang Yi was on the verge of tears; he really had no experience with this kind of situation.
“No, you can’t move.
You’ve taken a bullet in your stomach, remember?”
“Then, could you just hold me?
I really can’t hold it much longer…”
Yang Yi quickly wiped his face twice, whispering, “Okay!”
As Yang Yi was about to pick up Kate, he realized there was a step he needed to take first.
The pants have to come off; otherwise, how would she use the bathroom?
Turning his head to one side, Yang Yi whispered, “Don’t move, don’t use any strength, don’t move at all, especially be careful not to strain your abdomen, if the stitches come undone, that would really be troublesome.
You can use your arms, but definitely don’t use your waist.”
As he slowly lifted Kate, Yang Yi discovered that although she didn’t look heavy, she was surprisingly so.
Not daring to place Kate on the toilet, he cradled her like a child, turning his head away so as not to look at her.
Only listening to the sound of running water for a long time, when Yang Yi carried Kate back, it was almost a sprint, because his arms were so sore he almost threw her out.
With teeth clenched and trembling, he gently placed Kate back onto the bed, and then Yang Yi quickly covered her with the sheet again with the greatest speed.
Sitting heavily beside the bed, Yang Yi took a long breath, and at that moment, Kate whispered, “I’m sorry.”
“It doesn’t matter, you’re injured, these things can’t be helped,” he responded.
“Not that, I’m really sorry for hitting you when I first saw you.
Actually, it wasn’t entirely your fault, it was just an accident.”
Yang Yi said sheepishly, “It’s okay, I’ve forgotten about it, it’s all in the past.”
“You can turn your head back now.”
“Oh, I forgot.”
Yang Yi turned his head back and, looking at Kate’s flushed face, whispered, “How are you feeling now?”
Kate slowly closed her eyes, expressing pain, “I feel terrible.
I’ve lost my mother and father; I feel absolutely terrible now.”
Yang Yi sighed, his face showing helplessness, “You need to be strong, Kate.
You have to live well.”
Kate whispered softly, “I will.
I’ll definitely try my best to live on, Ross, thank you.”
Yang Yi paused, as Ross was just a false name given off-hand by John Jones during his introduction.
Then he suddenly realized, besides John Jones, no one knew his real name, naturally Kate didn’t either.
“My name isn’t Ross; my real name is Yang Yi.”
Kate nodded gently and said in a low voice, “My real name is Kate Jones.”
After saying their names, both fell into a silence.
After a while, Yang Yi asked softly, “Does your wound hurt?”
“A little, but it’s bearable.
Yang Yi, what about my mom and dad, and Ryan, how will the police handle their bodies?”
Yang Yi replied softly, “I don’t know, but you shouldn’t talk right now, you can’t say too much yet.
You need to rest.”
Kate’s eyes were listless as she murmured, “I’m thinking, has my mom already been taken to the morgue?
It’s very cold there.
I’ve forever lost the people who loved me most—my mom and dad are gone, gone, the people who loved me the most are gone, and I miss them so much…”
Yang Yi felt a pain in his heart, both out of pity for Kate and because her plight resonated with him.
“You need to be stronger, Kate.
When people die, they are gone, and we can’t bring them back to life.
But your mother’s and your father’s greatest wish is for you to live on, to live well.
So you may grieve, but let the grief be buried deep in your heart.
You can miss them slowly over time, but right now, you need to pull yourself together and heal from your injuries as quickly as possible.
That’s what you should be doing.
Listen to me, don’t talk anymore, and while the wound doesn’t hurt too much, close your eyes and try to get some sleep,” he consoled.
Kate didn’t close her eyes, but instead, looking at Yang Yi, she said anxiously, “Please don’t leave me behind, okay?
Don’t leave me all alone, okay?”
Yang Yi sighed softly and said firmly, “I promise you, I will never abandon you!”
