Chapter 49: CH 049: Attack on the lab (MR 3)

Just as White left the room and headed toward his office, a sharp, insistent beeping noise suddenly filled the air, cutting through the silence. It was the unmistakable sound of an alarm, showing that something was wrong.

White’s eyes snapped open in alarm as the red light flashing on the control panel signaled an attack. Without hesitation, he shot to his feet, his chair scraping back violently.

He made his way quickly to the surveillance room, a sense of urgency in his stride. As he entered, his men immediately straightened, offering brief, respectful bows in greeting, their faces tense.

"What’s going on?" White asked, his voice betraying none of the surprise that was building in his chest.

One of the men, his face pale, stepped forward. "We’re being attacked by beasts from outside the walls, sir."

White’s eyes flicked to the bank of monitors lining the wall, each one showing a different angle of the perimeter. The footage from the cameras immediately caught his attention.

Outside the walls, massive, dinosaur-like creatures were battering the fortified barrier. Their heavy bodies slammed into the reinforced structure, the sound of bone and flesh crashing against concrete reverberating through the air. They weren’t simply attacking; they were trying to break the walls down.

White’s eyes narrowed as he focused on the chaotic scene. His fingers gripped the edge of the desk as his gaze flicked from monitor to monitor, trying to make sense of the attack.

"What’s wrong with these beasts?" he muttered under his breath, his voice laced with disbelief. "Why are they acting so strange?"

The creatures didn’t seem to be acting like typical beasts. They weren’t just hunting or attacking out of instinct, they were relentlessly pounding the walls, seemingly with intent. A deep unease gnawed at White. This wasn’t just another random beast attack. Something was off, and he couldn’t put his finger on it.

"Prepare the defenses," White ordered, his voice sharp as he turned to face his men. "We can’t afford to let them breach the perimeter. Get everyone ready."

His mind raced, but no answers came. Something had changed. These beasts were far more organized than any he had encountered before. They were focused, determined, coordinated.

As White and his men watched the beasts relentlessly batter the walls, they had initially thought the barriers would hold. But their thoughts quickly changed when they saw a hundred more beasts charging toward the walls.

The sight was overwhelming. The first wave of beasts, already massive and ferocious, were now joined by an even larger group, an army of creatures closing in fast. Together, they launched an all-out assault, battering the walls with an intensity that made the ground tremble.

White’s eyes widened in shock as, with a single, coordinated strike from all the beasts, the wall began to crack. The sound of shattering concrete filled the room, and debris rained down in all directions. The once-impenetrable barrier gave way, crumbling like a sandcastle under the pressure. As the dust settled, the beasts surged forward, their primal roars filling the air as they poured into the laboratory.

For a moment, White was frozen, stunned by the scale of the attack. But quickly, his focus snapped back to the present. The walls had fallen, and the creatures were now charging toward the large metal door leading into the heart of the laboratory.

"Get ready!" White barked, his calm facade slipping into urgency. He spun around, addressing his men. "Deploy the hybrids, NOW!"

Without hesitation, his orders were executed. About fifty hybrid soldiers, half-human half-beast had rushed out of the lab, their powerful limbs propelling them forward with remarkable speed. They moved as one, heading straight for the rampaging creatures outside. Their sharp claws were drawn, and their hybrid forms, a terrifying blend of human intelligence and beastly strength, were ready for battle.

White’s confidence hadn’t wavered. He was certain the hybrids would be able to handle the oncoming wave of beasts. After all, they had been engineered for moments like this.

Yet, as the hybrids clashed with the beasts outside, White couldn’t help but feel a growing unease gnawing at him. Something wasn’t right about the way these creatures had attacked. This wasn’t just a random assault. It was a well-coordinated, calculated strike.

He watched from the surveillance room, his fingers tightening around the edge of the desk as the battle outside raged on. The outcome was still uncertain, but one thing was clear: the true nature of this attack had only just begun to unfold.

The moment the beasts laid eyes on the hybrids, they let out a deafening shriek that echoed through the air, followed by a chorus of guttural roars. The sound was enough to make the hybrids stagger, their instincts suddenly overwhelmed by a primal fear that seemed to emanate from deep within them. The beasts’ terrifying cries seemed to seize their very essence, sending waves of unease through their hybrid forms.

For a brief, disorienting moment, the hybrids froze. They were paralyzed, caught between their human intelligence and the beast inside them that feared the overwhelming force of the creatures before them.

In that instant of hesitation, the beasts took advantage, charging with brutal force. The hybrids were overwhelmed, their strength no match for the sheer savagery of the attacking creatures. One by one, they fell, torn apart before they could even make a move to defend themselves.

White’s eyes widened in disbelief as he watched the massacre unfold on the monitors in front of him. "What?!" he muttered under his breath. "What just happened? How did those beasts take down my hybrids so quickly?!"

He couldn’t believe it. The hybrids, engineered to be stronger than regular beasts, had been torn apart in mere seconds. The raw power and intensity of the creatures’ attack were unlike anything he had anticipated. His mind raced, trying to process what had just transpired, but there was no time to dwell on it.

As the last of his hybrids fell, the beasts turned their focus to the entrance of the lab. With no more obstacles in their way, they charged toward the massive doors, their bloodlust apparent.

"NO!" White shouted in panic, his voice laced with fear. He quickly turned toward one of his men. "Activate the defenses! Now!"

One of the soldiers quickly scrambled to obey, and within moments, a security measure was triggered. Energy beams shot out from the lab’s walls, designed to stop any intruders in their tracks.

The beams blasted into the approaching beasts, piercing through the parts of their body. Several beasts fell, their bodies slumping into a deadly state as the beams phased through them with holes on their body.

But despite the carnage, the rest of the pack didn’t stop. They charged forward without hesitation, seemingly undeterred by the deaths of their kin. The energy beams were efficient, but they weren’t enough to stop the onslaught. The beasts simply plowed forward, relentless in their pursuit.

White’s mind raced. The beasts were relentless, and they didn’t seem to care about their fallen comrades. They just kept coming, wave after wave. "This isn’t possible," he muttered to himself, his sense of control slipping away. "How are they still coming? They should be retreating, but they... they’re not."

The chaos continued, the once-secure lab now under siege, as White realized that the attack wasn’t just an assault, it was a coordinated, calculated force. And if he didn’t act fast, everything he had worked for would be destroyed.

"Total lockdown, now!"
