Summoned with an SSS-Rank Portal Skill-Chapter 231: You’ve got to be Kidding me
The beast that appeared looked like some kind of bird.
A very strange bird, actually.
The thing that caught William's attention the most… was that it was just a giant pigeon.
There was nothing physically different about it compared to a normal pigeon. It was like someone had simply used some kind of spell to enlarge a regular pigeon — and that was it.
It immediately reminded him that the creators of this dungeon were definitely people who had come from Earth. Maybe this pigeon was just one of their strange creations. It was weird — really weird — to see a creature like that in this world.
"What should we do?" Rena asked.
At that moment, they had no choice but to fight. There was no way to run.
William spoke to Asura in his mind — he wanted to have the beast-taming skill ready, just in case.
The giant pigeon flew toward them. For its size, it was surprisingly fast. William quickly positioned himself in front of Rena — between the two of them, he was far stronger in close combat.
If that magical beast attacked Rena directly, it would be a huge blow. She could even die from something like that. William wasn't about to risk it.
So, with his sword in hand, he rushed toward the magical pigeon. His movements were fast and agile, like he was gliding through the cave. In just a few seconds, he was face-to-face with the creature — and it was only a matter of time before his sword would strike it.
But of course, the pigeon wasn't going down that easily.
As soon as William got close, it struck at him with its wing. That wing was far stronger than it looked — it was the wing of a magical creature, after all.
The attack was strong enough to send William flying across the cave.
Rena immediately panicked, worried something had happened to him — but he got back on his feet quickly and returned to the fight.
Their goal wasn't to kill the creature.
They wanted to tame it.
If they could get their hands on a flying magical beast, their travel speed would increase a lot. Not only that — it would also give them a real chance of escaping from their pursuers without so many problems.
But to tame that creature, William needed to wear it down. It was strong — it wasn't going to submit if it was still at full strength.
"We need to tire it out, but without causing any real damage. That means just holding out and making it waste as much energy as possible," he said.
Rena understood what he was trying to do. It wasn't going to be easy. Dodging the attacks of a magical beast until it ran out of stamina… was a risky plan.
Of course, things would've been a lot easier if Rena knew any spells that could freeze or stop the creature's movements — but she didn't. So, the only thing they could do was dodge and endure.
More than an hour passed since the fight began.
Rena eventually hid behind the stone again, realizing she wouldn't be much help in a fight like that. William, on the other hand… kept running. Dodging. Luring the beast. Taking hits. And waiting.
Waiting for it to get tired.
Naturally, he took several hits during that time. No one could dodge every attack, especially not in a cramped cave like that. But his insanely fast health regeneration was more than enough to keep him in the fight.
Eventually, the creature began to slow down — breathing heavily, flapping its wings with less force.
That was it. The perfect moment.
With Asura's help, William channeled his demonic energy and reached into the creature's mind.
It was time for the mental battle — to see whether or not he would be able to tame this beast.
Mental battles were always something that took a lot out of William. Controlling the mind of a magical beast was never easy.
He didn't have that much experience with the ability either — he hadn't used it many times before. And the stronger the beast, the harder the process.
But in this case, he had already drained the creature's stamina beforehand. That made things a lot easier.
Inside the mind of the magical dove, William began spreading his demonic energy. It flowed through the creature's body like a mist, slowly trying to take control.
The beast instinctively tried to fight back — trying to push the demonic energy out of its body. If it could stop the energy from fully taking over, it could still break free. But even though it managed to resist a little… William was simply stronger.
For every inch the energy was pushed back, William pushed forward three.
It was only a matter of time before the creature gave in completely.
Rena kept watch from her spot behind the rock, making sure nothing interrupted him. William was totally vulnerable during that process, since all his focus and awareness were inside the creature's mind.
Eventually, the resistance faded. The beast could no longer fight — and just like that, it was his.
William now had full control over the magical dove.
The first thing he did was change the way the creature saw them. Now, instead of viewing them as enemies, it would see them as trusted companions.
"Did it work?" Rena asked, noticing the way William let out a long breath.
William smiled. "Yeah. It worked. We can continue our journey tomorrow — and it'll be way faster this time."
There was only one thing left to decide: should they stay in the cave for the night?
The group of soldiers that had been chasing them had already left, but… what if they came back?
They talked about it for a while and eventually decided to stay. Now that the magical beast was on their side, they didn't even need a campfire anymore. The giant dove curled up around them and used its long wings to keep them warm through the cold night.
And just like that, they made it through until morning.
The soldiers didn't show up during the night — but that didn't mean the night was peaceful for William and Rena. Just the thought that they might come back kept them both on edge.
Still, nothing happened. And by morning, it was time to move.
This time, they wouldn't have to walk for hours, always looking over their shoulders and hiding their faces from anyone passing by.
No — now, they had a flying mount. That alone made things a lot easier.
They climbed onto the back of the magical dove. Rena's eyes lit up with excitement.

"This creature is so beautiful," she said. "Way better than that winged snake we had to ride last time."
William didn't exactly agree. Rena didn't know what doves looked like on Earth — so to her, the giant bird didn't feel strange. But to William, well… it was just a massive pigeon. Not majestic. Not elegant. Just… a pigeon.
Still, they mounted the creature and flew off into the sky. The first thing William did was give it a command: fly as high as possible.
He didn't want to risk being seen from the ground. The last thing he needed was for the soldiers to spot him flying through the skies — that would make things much worse.
Thankfully, the bird could fly pretty high. The view from up there was breathtaking.
Now, finally, their journey to the next kingdom had truly begun. They flew in that direction, hoping to leave the kingdom behind as fast as possible.
"You think this next kingdom will be safe?" William asked. "I mean, do you think they might've put our wanted posters up over there too?"
There was a chance. A small one — but it existed.
"I don't think so," Rena said. "It looks like these kingdoms don't get along very well. Putting up posters from another kingdom might look suspicious."
"I really hope you're right…"
In the end, going to that kingdom was a gamble. But it was better to take that risk than to keep running as fugitives.
"We need to think about how we're going to find the portal to the next floor," William said. "We can't afford to stay wanted in two kingdoms."
He wanted to move on as quickly as possible. William had already spent too much time inside this dungeon. He was ready to reach the next rest hub and take a break from all of this.
"Agreed," Rena said. "Let's focus on finding that portal."

Days went by. They flew almost without stopping. The only time they landed was to eat or use the bathroom.
They didn't even sleep during that time.
Thanks to their powerful magical bodies, going a few days without sleep wasn't impossible. It wasn't healthy, of course — but it wasn't fatal either. Not right away.
And in this case, it was worth it. They just wanted to reach the next kingdom as fast as possible.
When they finally arrived, they brought the bird down. Flying directly over the border was risky — border towns usually had magical sensors that detected airborne intrusions.
William wasn't about to take that risk.
They made their way to the nearest border town. As they approached the gates, they saw the guards. And the moment the soldiers spotted a flying beast, they straightened up, taking a more serious stance.
Flying beasts were rare — and expensive. In that region, only powerful or wealthy people had them.
Naturally, they assumed William was someone important.
But as William got closer to the gate, something on the wall caught his eye.
A wanted poster.
With his face on it.
"You've got to be kidding me…" he muttered.
