"Your hair young miss." Harlow smiled at Ava’s words. The woman was utterly shocked because, for five years now, her young miss decided to change her hair color because of Alanis Hamilton. Nothing and no one could talk her out of it, it was a decision she had made willingly to please the boy.

Ava had been the one to follow her to those salons, she would be there to watch her young miss cry in the hands of the brutal machines and equipment. She would endure every pain till her hair was straightened and beautiful.

If her young miss really was in her red hair again, then it means the rumors are true. Harlow really had divorced that man. But what really lead to this?

The obsessed Backwoods heiress divorcing her long-term crush just like that wasn’t adding up. Something must have cost it. Something Harlow has refused to say.

’I’ll have to find out about it myself." Ava thought to herself.

"Yes, I decided to go back to my natural hair." Harlow smiled, even if Ava smiled back, inside her was an unsettled turmoil.

"I overheard what happened with the Hamilton’s, is that true?" Ava asked changing the conversation, she wanted to know what happened between Harlow and the Hamilton’s so badly.

Everyone had been shocked by Harlow’s sudden decision because she had been obsessed with the man for years and just when she got her wish of marrying him, she balls out?

It was confusing. Something must have made her leave and Harlow had refused to say anything about it.

"I’m afraid yes aunty," Harlow said pressing her lips together. She was tired of hearing about the Hamilton’s, maybe she should go on a vacation and leave this place. Maybe for a year or two or three...

"But why young miss, you loved Alanis so much?" Ava said.

"He never loved me back, not once, not even a little bit." Her eyes moistened as she spoke. "I can no longer be in a one-sided love, I’m tired Aunty."

"But young miss, love comes as you grow. The older you get, the more you fall in love." Harlow shook her head. That was not the case for her, death came along the way and took her life with that of her three children.

"I don’t want him anymore aunt, I’ll find a better man," Harlow said.

"I also overheard Claudia, pleading to your father that she wants to take your place in the Hamilton family." Ava broke the news.

"And what did father say?" Came the sudden cold voice from Harlow. She knows she shouldn’t react this way. It was not her business if Alanis and Claudia got married.

"His answer is no, since you couldn’t stay 24 hours in the marriage he thinks something is wrong. But we both know he’ll eventually change his mind." Ava’s words stung Harlow’s mind but she brushed it off. It’s normal for her to feel this way, especially since she’s been in love with Alanis for 10 years.

Alanis loved Claudia so much, so if she wanted him, she could as well have him.

Harlow left Ava and started walking towards her bedroom when she saw the kitchen staff moving in and out of the mansion with various food items in their hands. She turned curious and followed them into the large kitchen.

Since she was a child, helping the kitchen staff has always been her thing, that’s how she learned to be a good cook. She had thought to use her skills for her and and children, but it never happened.

She used to have so many future plans that never came to pass.

"So many food items, what are we celebrating?" She walked up to the head of the kitchen who bowed slightly the moment he set his eyes on her.

"Good evening Miss Harlow." He greeted her with a bright smile, as if so happy to see her again. They had all been worried by her obsession with that Hamilton boy, who knew one day his young miss would let go of those feelings.

"Your father, Mr Blackwood had asked for a celebratory dinner for your return from the Hamilton’s. It’s going to be a feast tonight." Harlow stared at him indifferently, she wasn’t at all moved by the feast.

A woman leaving her husband’s house barely 24 hours after marriage was an abomination in society. But her father wanted to turn it into a feast, into a party, and for what?

Her divorce should be hidden till after a while. She thought to herself. She would have to speak to her father about it. His constant show-offs and trusting nature were what brought him to his death, she would never let that happen again.

"Alfonzo, can you do me a favor?" Harlow turned to the man.

"Yes, miss whatever you need." She whispered a few words in the man’s ears and he nodded. Harlow smiled and started walking away.

Alfonzo was momentarily stunned at her words and didn’t stop looking at her till her tiny figure vanished from his sight.

When did their young miss become a menace? He shook his head.

Harlow was finally about to retreat to her room and prepare for dinner ahead when a servant approached her. "Miss Harlow, your father wants to see you now." She nodded and followed the servant to his side of their mansion.

When they arrived before his study room, the servant opened the door for Harlow to step in. As she walked in, she could see her stepmother and Claudia already in the room with her father and she knew what they wanted to say already. It’s a good thing Ava had hinted at whatever this whole meeting was about.

"Harlow dear please come sit." Harlow walked to the empty sofa and sat on it.

"Since we don’t have time, I’ll go straight to the point." Frank started.

"Your sister here has decided to take your place in the Hamilton family. She wants to be married to Alanis Hamilton."
