Chapter 40: REINCARNATION Of THE DEVIL (A TOUCH OF CARE)

Elisa hadn’t expected to see her son-in-law here today, but here he is. Alanis Hamilton was standing before her in flesh and blood, his eyes were dark, as if he could devour her at any moment.

For the first time, Elisa couldn’t hold his gaze for long and she aviated her gaze to the floor.

"I... If you don’t know what happened, please don’t speak about it son in law." She stuttered.

"This is your last warning Elisa, no one dares lay a finger on what’s mine." Elisa blinked multiple times to be sure she was dreaming. Did Alanis warn her?

Did he just call Harlow his?

She shook her head, this must really be a dream.

She suddenly couldn’t breathe anymore. This is impossible, Alanis loves her Claudia, and he’s going to marry her Claudia. She would never let Harlow come between them.

Harlow started packing her scattered clothes and properties on the floor without a word and Alanis joined her quietly. He squatted next to her and started packing her clothes and placing them in her bag carefully.

This time Garth demanded to be killed. Alanis Hamilton, helping Harlow Blackwood and defending her was not in her book. There’s no way he’s planning on bringing this girl back into their family

He has made the worst mistake in his past life and will never let it repeat anymore. His negligence and past foolishness have made him lose his son, his other unborn children, and his wife. And the moment he realized his mistake it was already too late. He could never amend what was lost.

Alanis died in a car accident the night he was rushed to the hospital. Maybe that was his karma, or maybe reincarnating back to five years before is his Karma or a twisted blessing in disguise. He has been given a second chance at life and this time, he wouldn’t mess it up.

He should be in hell where he truly belongs. He didn’t know how to apologize to Harlow or try to repay her for everything she lost.

But Harlow was not making it easy. It had been three days since their divorce, and she hadn’t begged him, hadn’t even acknowledged him. Even as her family turned on her, she maintained an unshakable indifference.

It was maddening.

Alanis, a man who has never known patience, now found himself unraveling in her presence.

She was a mystery he couldn’t solve, a riddle that taunted him at every turn. He wasn’t sure what he felt, was it guilt? Regret? Or was it something deeper, something far more dangerous?

In his past life, Harlow had been obsessed with him, never looking at another man. But now? She seemed content to leave him behind as if he were nothing more than a distant memory. And it drove him insane.

Gus will definitely mock him in the office today. Isn’t Harlow supposed to be obsessed with him?

That is how things have always been. In his past life she would not be with anyone who wasn’t him, why is this life different?

Harlow tried to ignore the man next to her, he’s the reason she’s in this mess anyway.

The other women in the lounge exchanged glances, their eyes darting between Alanis and Harlow. Though they barely said a word to each other, the connection between them was obvious.

"I wanted to thank you," Alanis said finally, breaking the silence. His hands moved methodically, folding one of her shirts. "For taking care of Grandma Hamilton."

"You didn’t have to come all the way here to thank me," Harlow replied coldly, not looking up. "A text would have been better."

He studied her face, the delicate features framed by her fiery red hair, her lashes casting shadows on her pale cheeks. His gaze lingered on her lips longer than he intended. How had he missed this before? How had he not seen how beautiful she was?

"Make sure you watch on Grandma Hamilton closely, I wouldn’t want more inconveniences in my new apartment." Harlow continued without meeting his gaze.

"You wouldn’t have any, not anymore." He said.

"What do you think they may be talking about?" Elisa asked Garth in a hushed tone and Garth frowned deeper.

"I have no idea, where’s Claudia when you need her?" Garth asked looking around. She had just bragged about Alanis not having even an ounce of feelings for Harlow only for him to do this. And he looked like he was enjoying doing it.

"I don’t know what to do with that daughter of mine," Elisa said.

Back on the floor, Harlow broke the silence between her and Alanis. "I had no idea you could fold clothes," Harlow spoke in a hushed tone, enough for just him to hear.

"It’s my first time." He confessed, face as unreadable as ever. Never in her life did she think the arrogant Alanis Hamilton would ever do something as simple as folding clothes. She smiled.

As Alanis arranged his wife’s clothes, he picked a small soft piece of cloth. It was green in color, like the other collections still in his mansion. That is what convinced him, that Harlow was merely joking and would be back.

Expanding it to know what it was...

*Gasp*

Harlow gasped...

She quickly grabbed the piece of cloth from his hands, her face red in embarrassment.

People may say she’s experienced since she’s had kids in her past life, but she wasn’t at all. She’d never gotten this noticed by a man before.

"Don’t you have shame, Mr Hamilton?" Harlow asked meeting his gaze, though her cheeks gave a little of her feelings away, her eyes were still so cold to him.

"He smirked, his tone turning serious. "I’ve seen a more beautiful and sexy one than this." Of course, he has. Harlow rolled her eyes at him.

She had forgotten he was Alanis Hamilton, every lady’s man. While she, his wife, was the last woman he wanted anything with. She wouldn’t forget the reason he’s trying to be good to him is because of her inheritance which she doesn’t have anymore.

"What’s going on here?"

The sharp voice broke through the room. Claudia stood in the doorway, her eyes narrowing as she took in the scene. She had no idea what had happened, but the sight of her fiancé kneeling next to Harlow, so engrossed in her, was enough to ignite a firestorm.
