Chapter 41: AGREED MARRIAGE

Harlow was just through with the last piece as she sealed her luggage when her sister’s voice rang through the air. Claudia looked like she could burst any moment because of how red she had gotten. Harlow smiled.

She didn’t acknowledge her sister’s words and started dragging her luggage out of the room.

"It seems your sister slipped and fell again." Elisa was the one who responded to her daughter. She had no idea where Claudia had been, but she was glad she was here now.

"Harlow is always known to be so clumsy." Claudia smiled sweetly. She finally turned her gaze to the only man she wanted to see, Alanis, who for some reason didn’t look at her and picked the next luggage as he started dragging it out of the lounge.

Garth and Elisa were both stunned at his action. Claudia tried to run after him, but Elisa held her daughter back. She shook her head at her.

"Mum, you saw what she did." She cried out.

"It’s alright dear, don’t waste your time chasing them, you don’t have a right to yet. You both are not engaged or married yet." Claudia nodded. She would never give her sister the satisfaction she wants. She’ll never let Harlow know whatever she’s doing is affecting her.

There’s no way the Alanis that loves her is now all of a sudden attracted to Harlow. Just like her mother said, he is trying to make her jealous. She took in several deep breaths to calm her nerves and then she turned to Garth.

Ava who saw her young miss approaching the entrance of the mansion quickly rushed towards her, to carry the luggage in her hands.

"What happened Miss Harlow, you wasted a lot of time in there." She asked in a hushed tone.

"It seems my mother wanted to inspect my properties before I leave." Harlow sighed.

"Did she take anything?" Harlow nodded. She had taken the useless jewels she couldn’t dispose of herself.

Claudia is going to try to make those outdated designs thinking it’s some big achievements and disgrace herself before everyone next week. Oh, she couldn’t just wait for that time. Ava noticed her miss just smiling without any response to her and she wondered what was wrong.

Is her miss really okay, or is something else wrong with her?

"Here keep this Ava, I have other things I left in there." Harlow suddenly said.

"I can help you carry them."

"No don’t worry." She waved her hands and hurried back into the lounge.

Meanwhile, back in the lounge, "Aunt Garth, you know I love Alanis so much, you have to promise me, that I’ll be the only one to be your daughter-in-law." Claudia asked. She had been so nice to the family for the last few days, already stealing money from her father to buy gifts for Garth and Lia in other to gain favour, all in Harlow’s name.

Frank was yet to know about the funds being given out, and so did Harlow.

"You don’t have to worry dear, I convinced Alanis before to be married to that devil, which I regret to this day, but you. I know you’ll make the perfect daughter-in-law." Garth said.

"You have nothing to fear Claudia, Alanis is yours." Garth declared to see the young girl smile. She was pleased to hear that, Garth had just made her day without even knowing. Alanis will be hers no matter what.

She will make sure she eliminates whatever distraction there is on her way.

Garth didn’t need Harlow’s inheritance anymore since she had been disowned by the family. Claudia is the next victim and according to Elisa, Frank had promised to will everything to Claudia if she continues to be good and proves she’s worthy enough to carry his company.

That is why this diamond auction is a big deal. It’s the day Claudia will prove herself to her father and everyone and steal everything away from Harlow.

Elisa couldn’t just wait for that day to arrive. Her stomach twisted from excitement.

"See this is what I’ve been telling my dear Claudia, but she had demanded to hear it from you herself to be sure it isn’t just any tricks." Elisa smiled.

"Oh no, it’s no joke. You should expect your grand engagement party after the diamond auction." Claudia’s face lit up, she was more than excited at the news. In just a week, she would officially become Alanis’s new wife. She would be addressed as Mrs Hamilton.

"Did you hear that Harlow?" Claudia said the moment she saw her sister walk in. She couldn’t wait to just rub her excitement on Harlow’s face. To her, she’s her biggest enemy, the one person that wanted her downfall.

"My engagement party is next week." She started. "Can you believe that, I’ll be married to Alanis soon," Claudia said standing before Harlow.

"Congratulations dear sister, you’re one step to becoming your mother." She smiled. She really didn’t come here for this, but she couldn’t help making one good joke before leaving. Her family is surely going to miss her, she just knows her absence will be greatly felt.

Claudia frowned. "Just you wait and see. Stealing Alanis will only be the beginning. Just like I’ve stolen father’s love, your inheritance is next, and everything you think you own in this life." Claudia said with a straight face and this time Harlow didn’t smile back.

"Good luck with that dear sister. I look forward to it." Harlow smiled.

"Do you wish to have my blessings now, or later?" Harlow smiled. She went ahead to retrieve the bag she wanted from the floor when she checked the contents, the paperwork was still intact. She sighed and left the mansion.

Most of the paperwork included the new movie she was about to release. All she needed was good actors and her movie would be set, she would need to discuss that with Richie.

Speaking of the devil, as Harlow stepped out of the mansion, she felt the world turned light and as she turned to see the reason, her eyes turned wide.
