Chapter 43: NEW APARTMENT

Ava was unfamiliar with the people standing next to her. From the way the muscular man with glasses carried her Miss Harlow earlier, it meant he was close to her, but who was he?

She kept her distance away from them, Harlow had been through a whole lot growing up as a child, and she would always protect her in any little way she could like she promised her mother.

"That man is crazy," Richie said to the others as he deepened both his hands in his pocket. His eye still stared at the part Alanis had dragged Harlow through. He would make sure never to meet such scary man again.

How can someone be so jealous?

"Do you have a death wish Richie, carrying boss like that before her husband?" Edward asked. Compared to Richie, he was just busty without muscle, but he was so smart.

"What? They’re divorced and it’s not the first time I’ve carried her that way." Richie scratched the back of his head.

"There’s something called boundaries Richie, and you crossed it. You’re only lucky your head is still intact after that stupid move." Elena said eyeing him.

Ava was not worried about their argument, she was more worried about her miss who was still with Alanis Hamilton. The man looked so angry when took her away.

After a while, Harlow was seen stepping out of the path Alanis had dragged her through. Her face looked so dark, yet flustered, as her cheeks burned bright red. Behind her was the stoic-looking Alanis who stepped inside his car without looking their way and zoomed off.

Harlow didn’t look his way, nor did she say a word to all of the people staring at her like a ghost.

"Let’s go." She said and everyone stepped into the car before driving off.

No one in the car said a word to Harlow, not even the friendly Richie could speak to her. In their head, she had a big fight with Alanis Hamilton, when in truth, he had tried to seduce her again.

Lesson learned, never stay in an enclosed space with Alanis Hamilton. Or you’re doomed for life. She nodded at her thought.

"Are you alright Miss Harlow? Did he try to harm you?" Harlow shook her head. She still felt hot from what he had done earlier. She will never be able to escape from that man if she doesn’t stop this madness at once.

He’s her enemy and she should stay far away from him.

"As we don’t have a place to stay, where do we go from here?" Ava asked again. All she cared about now was a place to stay, though she wouldn’t mind sleeping in this car with Harlow if worse came to worse.

"You don’t have a place to stay boss? What happened to your man..." Elena slapped his head before he could complete his sentence.

Harlow on the other hand sighed, she had forgotten how playful her employees/ friends were when they were not working. That’s why she gives them work every time.

Richie, Edward, and Elena have been her friends since college and have also decided to work with her. While Layla was her best friend, these people were her friends who helped her through everything.

She fired them all in her past life and sold out her company because she was in love, but she’s glad she had been given a second chance at life, to correct her mistake and make this right again.

"Take me to the mansion Edward. We’ll start working by tomorrow, for the rest of the day, please don’t bother me. I need to do a few grocery shopping." Harlow said.

"But boss, you can just order a personal shopper, you know..." Elena slapped him again as he spoke, staring back at Ava who was as confused as a baby.

Ava wondered what they were all talking about. The last she remembered, her miss had no job, and she had been stripped off of all her inheritance, so what are they really talking about?

"Miss Harlow, what did they mean by a mansion and a personal shopper?" Ava asked Harlow. Maybe they had no idea she had been disowned and did not have a place to live anymore. She expected Harlow to say something but Harlow had refused to say anything.

Why had she refused to talk? Was she shy? Was she ashamed of her new condition?

But if she doesn’t speak out, no one will help her. Harlow seems close to these people, perhaps they wouldn’t mind helping them till maybe their family issues are resolved.

"It’s nothing to worry yourself about Ava, I’ll have everything sorted out," Harlow said calmly and Ava nodded. She wanted to believe her miss words and trust her this time. freeweɓnovel.cøm

After the long ride through the city, they arrived at an estate. An estate that did look ordinary. Ava wondered if this place belonged to one of the people in this car, maybe Harlow had called them last night. But it is only this morning Frank Blackwood disowned his daughter and these people have been here before she called Harlow.

She had thought them to be a delivery agent but there was no package, neither were there any items being taken from the mansion.

She couldn’t believe they were so rich, and she had looked down on them.

They moved into the estate with different villas and mansions. No one had to tell her that normal people could never live here.

Edward took the right turn and they arrived before a black gate. Two honks and the gate opened, revealing a vast land in it.

Ava would have been mesmerized if she hadn’t lived in the Blackwood mansion all this while. Right now she compares all other mansions to the Blackwood’s and she hasn’t found any better.

The car accelerated smoothly through the yard till they arrived before the Villa. Though wasn’t as large as the Blackwood’s castle, it was big and beautiful.

Immediately a butler stepped out of the mansion in a black attire.

"Come on, Ava, let’s go." Harlow smiled softly at the woman and she stepped out of the car with Harlow. The butler immediately bowed at the sight of Harlow, "Welcome back Miss H." He said.
