The Crown's Seduction-Chapter 416: Off My Woman
Chapter 416: Off My Woman freeweɓnovēl.coɱ
As was the case, Abel had become busy due to the tasks Nikolai left him while he was away. It was also a fact that he had a problem with the strong urge he had to follow Dani. She had just left yesterday with the King and Queen, so they were probably by the Miran Ocean at the moment.
"I thought the Chancellor of this kingdom is a very hardworking man? How come you’re zoning out like that?"
Abel rolled his eyes at Fritz’s sudden appearance. He then unknowingly chuckled as he recalled Dani’s annoyed expression whenever he would just pop up in front of her.
"So this is how it feels?" Abel subconsciously muttered.
"Are you alright, Chancellor?" Fritz snorted as he sat down in front of him. "You’re even talking and grinning to yourself now. Anyway, what are these petitions?"
Abel stared at Fritz as his friend curiously stared at the documents on the table. A wide smile then appeared on his lips as an idea came to his mind. Likewise, Fritz probably felt his intense gaze, so he raised his head to look back at him.
Frowning, Fritz called him out. "What’s with that look? I don’t like that smile, Abel!"
"Remember the last poker game we did last summer where you lost? I haven’t claimed my request for you yet as we agreed," Abel started with a wide smile. "Now is the time for you to grant that request. You do know that I’m soon to be a husband, so..."
"What the hell," Fritz suspiciously stated. "Are you planning to have me take over your work?"
"Precisely," he praised with a grin. "As expected of my progenitor! So quick-witted!"
"Progenitor, my ass!" Fritz snorted. "I made you a Curb against my will."
Abel laughed, recalling how many times Fritz had turned down his request. The man was the most approachable vampire with a good reputation, especially in the province where he stayed and worked in Valcrez with the Bennett Family. Even though he wanted to become strong, which resulted in him seeking immortality and being turned, Abel wasn’t fooled enough to let just any vampire grant it to him.
He looked for a vampire with a credible name that wouldn’t manipulate him as his Curb. He then heard about a Scion wandering their province who happened to be Lord Fritz. The man was a benevolent vampire who would only turn a human unless there was a valid reason to do so. Also, the major reason why he sought out Lord Fritz as opposed to other vampires was the fact that his Curbs had their own freedom to do as they pleased, and he wouldn’t even bother paying attention to them at all. After all, Lord Fritz wasn’t always around and was instead wandering the world.
"Why do you always love bets?" Abel curiously asked. He didn’t get why Lord Fritz loved betting not just on games, but also in almost every situation he would get an opportunity to bet on.
"Look at you. We’ve known each other for almost three hundred years now, and yet here you are still asking that kind of question," Fritz fired back at him. "Living for a long time is quite boring, don’t you think?"
"Well, I haven’t lived yet as long as you, and so far, my life right now hasn’t been boring at all," Abel remarked, and for some reason, Dani’s face just appeared in his head.
"You don’t have to remind me that I’m twice your age Abel," Fritz sighed with a shrug. "Just leave now if you plan on going."
"I’ll go ahead then..." Abel scoffed. "But wait..."
"What now?" Fritz complained.
"What do you think I should bring as presents to Lady Dani’s family?" he asked. After all, he didn’t want to meet Dani’s family empty-handed.
Fritz rolled his eyes. "Oh, goodness. How should I know? Just ask the Queen Mother or Alexa about it," he scoffed. "Ah... Alexa is a better choice to help you out instead of the Queen Mother, now that I think about it."
"Fine, I’ll check on Alexa then," Abel muttered.
From there, he quickly shifted into his mist form to look for Alexa. He would make it quick, then travel straight to the Miran Ocean and look for their fleet. All the while, he couldn’t help but wonder how Dani would react to the surprise he was planning for her.
A few moments later, Abel brought a lot with him as presents to Dani’s family. He also had some help from the Queen Mother’s scions to bring his presents to the fleet with him in their mist form since he wouldn’t be able to bring it all with him by himself. By the time he arrived in the fleet, the sun was just about to set. Instead of going for a rest after a long journey, he directly looked for Dani inside the fleet.
After a few moments of searching, a bright smile curved upon his lips the moment he found Dani by the balcony of the ship. However, those lips quickly pursed as his gaze darted toward Taro. He didn’t mean to spy on them, but he couldn’t help but simply stay in his mist form to listen to their conversation.
Somehow, Abel didn’t like how Taro was looking at Dani. He was obviously flirting with his future wife.
"You sound like you don’t want my company around, Lady Dani. I even came here in a rush just to be here..."
Dani frowned. "Huh?" she scoffed. "Why would you need to hurry here?"
Taro’s shoulders slumped as he muttered, "I can’t believe she’s this dense." He then looked straight into Dani’s eyes and continued, "I like you, Lady Dani."
Dani’s face paled with that unexpected confession. She parted her lips to say something, but she only ended up blinking at the man who had just confessed to her. And this was when Abel chose to appear because he could no longer take it!
"This is quite interesting..." he scoffed as he approached Dani. He then comfortably put his arm around her shoulders as he looked straight at Taro and addressed him. "I guess you’ve been away for far too long to hear the news about my upcoming wedding and Coupling Rites with Lady Dani," he cooly stated. "Nevertheless, I’m informing you now, Taro: keep your hands off my woman."
