The Crown's Seduction-Chapter 415: Foreplay
Chapter 415: Foreplay
Abel closed his eyes, inwardly cursed, then quickly opened them as he thought to himself. The kiss he had with Dani inside the tavern had been tormenting him for days, and he was so annoyed that he put his hand on his face and hastily got up from his seat.
"This wouldn’t do," he grunted as he went into his mist form to go to the library hall. "I feel like I was unintentionally bewitched!"
"Lord Abel?"
Looking up, he noted how Cian looked so surprised at his sudden presence. The head of the library hall even blinked at him.
"It’s been a while, Master Cian," Abel greeted with a polite chuckle.
Cian was one of his Masters who thought he had everything he needed to know when he turned into a vampire. He owed everything to this young lad who was one of the few ancient vampires in history. He wasn’t an exordium, but he had lived for a long time. And like Master Cian would always say, he was unsure if it was fortunate or unfortunate that he was still alive even today unlike other vampires who had already met their deaths, especially most of the Exordiums when the dragon souls attacked years ago.
Still, Cian was a vampire filled with wisdom, believing he still had a purpose for staying alive up till now.
"So, what can I do for our dear Chancellor?" Cian asked as he got up and grabbed a glass to pour him a drink.
"What’s with that question?" Abel asked back with a snort. "It’s not like I’m only visiting you whenever I want to ask you something."
"Right, among the many students who passed through me, you’re my greatest creation. A Curb who made his way into one of the highest ranks in the kingdom because of his ability and wisdom alone," Cian chuckled. "Are you here to brag about having a wife and finally settling down then?"
’News had indeed spread like wildfire, I guess,’ Abel thought as he smiled at Cian’s teasing grin.
"Are you jealous, Master?" he teased back, having a sip with a raised brow. "But no. I’m here to ask if you can help me find all the details regarding the Thrall Chain Spell."
"Oh, let me check right now," Cian nodded. "Give me a minute."
His master then promptly went out of his office, leaving Abel to patiently wait as he let his mind wander to where Dani could be right now. Last he heard, the Queen’s ladies-in-waiting had gone out to have fun and tour around the city.
"They’re probably passing by the market right now," he murmured.
If he recalled, Nikolai and the Queen would travel to the Ebodian Encampment for an important matter tomorrow. Of course, Dani would come with them. It was honestly a great opportunity for him to also come and meet her family. But unfortunately, he still had a lot of duties right now, especially now as the King would be away for a while.
After a while, Cian got back to him with two books in his hands. "Here..."
Abel took them, and he smiled at Cian and said, "Thank you so much, Master. I’ll be leaving then."
Without wasting any time, he quickly left the library and went back to his office to check on the books, only to frown as he read further into them...
"This just doesn’t make any sense..." he mumbled with a deep frown. "There are no side effects aside from me following her commands?"

Meanwhile, Dani and the rest were fortunate to be given a day off while their Queen was spending quality time with the newly arrived guests. Today, she, Krisha, and Zaila decided to have fun by touring the capital city of Valcrez.
"I wish we could visit Niran," Zaila said with a pout. Well, all of them wanted that, but apparently, Niran’s real identity as an Ebodian would be found out if they did so.
"We’re still unsure about Prince Raul," Krisha remarked in their secret language. "As of now, he’s still a threat."
"Yes, and it’s also Niran’s choice to continue spying on him," Dani commented.
"But what if the prince is genuine with his feelings for her?" Krisha pointed out. "I can’t help but worry about her situation. Things are very complicated with them right now."
"That’s true," Dani sighed. "In the end, it might be her that would get hurt the most on this."
"I’m sure our Queen will talk to Niran about this soon and convince her otherwise," Zaila interrupted as she stopped by one of the many stalls around them and looked for hair pins among other things. "This, my mother will love this..."
With a wide smile, Zaila promptly negotiated the hairpin’s price with the merchant. Likewise, Dani also looked around but ended up not buying anything.
"I really admire how calm you are in this situation," Krisha complimented with a joking snort. "Aren’t you at least going to buy something to bribe your parents and brothers with?"
"She probably won’t even discuss her relationship with the Chancellor with her family on this visit," Zaila joined the conversation with a shrug.
"That’s impossible. She should just tell her family about this matter," Krisha rebutted. "Also, I’m sure the chancellor is also aware of our departure for Ebodia tomorrow. Isn’t he going to meet your family then?"
Dani remained quiet, especially since she and Abel hadn’t talked about it yet. Silently, she looked at Krisha and Zaila who were currently closely staring at her, waiting for her to reply.
"I don’t know. Big brother might kill Abel if he meets him in the encampment," she humorously joked with a grin.
"Well, our Great Constable no doubt can kill a vampire," Zaila joined in with her joke.
Krisha shook her head as she elbowed Dani. "Dani won’t allow that, but what I’m curious about is how you’re going to explain about your situation," she stated with a teasing tone. "Are you going to tell them that you and the Chancellor had a one-night stand?!"
Dani’s face reddened as she defended, "I told you, nothing happened, and it’s not what you think it is!"
"If not all the way, then I bet some foreplay happened!" Zaila chuckled. "So quick, tell us about it, Dani!"
Dani pursed her lips because she wouldn’t ever tell them that!
