The Crown's Seduction-Chapter 425: Your Future Husband
Chapter 425: Your Future Husband
The next morning, Dani woke up early with how excited she was to greet their Queen and the rest of her friends. Getting up from the makeshift bed, she shook her head the moment she noticed the powerful spell cast on her tent.
"Is this even necessary?" she scoffed as she readied herself. She was sure it was her brother Atlas who had this protection spell done for her. But since she was a bit tired and dizzy from their journey last night, she didn’t bother to confront him.
Dani quickly got ready to go outside, and by the time she was about to leave, she heard Abel’s voice calling out to him. "Lady Dani, are you already awake?" he asked. "Can you go outside and see me?"
Without replying, Dani quickly went and greeted Abel’s bright and smiling. "Looks like your brother is overprotective enough that I can’t even enter your tent," he chuckled. "Did he think that I would sneak inside your tent? Am I not even allowed to do that?"
"I told you he’ll be like that. I’m actually surprised that your head is still intact," Dani scoffed. "And yes, you’re not allowed to sneak inside my tent. Why would you even do that?"
Before Abel could respond to that, a royal soldier came to escort them to the tent where everyone was currently having breakfast. They were guided inside, and Abel quickly pulled out a chair for her after she exchanged curt bows with Queen Dana, Princess Ezme, and of course, her brother Atlas. She then exchanged a few smiles with Zaila and Krisha who simply replied to her with their teasing smiles.
Dani pursed her lips at them, but she quickly smiled as soon as Queen Mineah entered with King Nikolai, greeting them all filled with energy. As such, she and the rest stood up from their chairs to greet the newcomer monarchs of Valcrez.
"Dani, you finally arrived!" Queen Mineah happily greeted. She then addressed the rest as she added, "Please, let’s all be seated."
From there, breakfast went on with a bit of an intense mood with how serious some of the discussions regarding the current situation were. Dani had only heard about it now, but Prince Ezekiel was apparently unconscious, and looking at Queen Mineah and Queen Dana’s expressions, she could tell it was very serious.
"How is Brother, Mother?" Mineah asked. "And where’s Tarah?"
"Your brother is still unconscious," Queen Dana answered. "Tarah is looking after him."
"Speaking of which, I believe we still haven’t been enlightened as to how Prince Ezekiel fell to such a state," Princess Ezme casually pointed out. "Are there any answers so far?"
"According to our Seer, he fought against a powerful wizard and held them captive..." Queen Dana explained.
"It’s Zoran," King Nikolai interrupted.
"Zoran?! Is it really true that he’s now siding with the Demon King?" Princess Ezme exclaimed with a deep frown. "I should knock the sense into that bastard!"
"That can’t be helped, Ezme. There have been many misunderstandings lately," King Nikolai assuaged her. "I will try to contact Zoran later to try and clear things up."
"It’s a good thing that we haven’t faced each other in our battles yet then," Ezme commented.
Dani simply listened on, having little to contribute to the scene. Still, what was this weird feeling between Princess Ezme and her brother that she was having?
Before she could think more about it, she was interrupted by Queen Mineah turning to her and speaking, "Nikolai and I will be leaving today to go back to Valcrez. You three can stay for a while longer and meet with your families. Treat this as a vacation."
"But, Your Majesty..."
Dani was the one to speak, but she was unable to continue since Princess Ezme and Abel were still around. She was worried about how Queen Mineah was currently borrowing energy from her, Zaila, and Krisha, so at least two of her shadow maidens should remain with her.
Mineah silently gave her a knowing look, so Dani had no choice but to remain quiet.
"Ah, you don’t have to worry, Lady Dani. I will be the one to personally attend to my wife’s needs in every aspect," King Nikolai addressed her. "I will be her personal servant as I’ve always been. I would even prefer if the three of you took your time on this vacation."
Dani only gave the king an awkward smile.
"Ah, I can’t take it anymore! I can’t stand seeing you acting like that, Brother. Ewww!" Ezme complained as she quickly stood up from her seat. "I’ll excuse myself then," she politely said to Queen Mineah, Queen Dana, and the rest of the table. She then looked at her brother Atlas and said, "Follow me."
Atlas let out a mournful sigh before he stood up and politely excused himself as well. Dani frowned at what she just witnessed. Why would her brother follow Princess Ezme like he was some kind of tamed dog? It was very out of character for him.
"Looks like your brother-in-law isn’t giving you a hard time, Abel," King Nikolai broke the silence with a scoff.
Abel scratched his head and confessed, "Well, it’s a good thing I managed to hypnotize him."
"What?!" Dani burst out. "No, you didn’t!"
"Yes, I did..." Abel plainly answered with a poker face, but the corners of his lips suddenly turned up as explained, "Of course, I didn’t compel him. I’m just messing with you, Dani. I apologize."
Dani frowned as she mumbled, "I’ll get you back on this later!"
Abel ignored her words and instead did something that made her face redden even more.
"I can do this on my own," she silently complained as Abel started putting bread on her plate and pouring her some milk, feeling embarrassed with how Zaila and Krisha were grinning at her.
"Let your future husband take good care of you, Dani," Abel shamelessly stated. "I don’t want our Queen thinking that I’m not a reliable husband for you."
Dani wanted the whole ground to just swallow her at that moment with how embarrassing it was for everyone to watch her like this. She wasn’t used to this kind of attention, but she couldn’t deny the fact that Abel was able to make her heart flutter without even trying. Somehow, she felt that it would be nice if Abel wasn’t just pretending, but Dani knew that wasn’t the case.
