Chapter 433: Soon To Be Wife

"What?!"

The moment Dani heard what Luis had said, she quickly rushed to their queen’s bedchamber with Zaila and Krisha. There, they waited for instructions on what had to be done.

"What happened?!" Zaila questioned Luis as they waited for their king and queen’s arrival. They didn’t know the exact details of what supposedly happened beyond Luis telling them to rush to where they were now to receive their unconscious queen.

It almost felt like just a while ago that they were even talking about celebrating once their queen arrived knowing that she’d be happy since Princess Xenia was formally crowned as the new queen of Cordon. And yet there they were now with Luis telling them that an incident had happened and that their queen was now unconscious.

Dani paced around the room while Krisha prepared all the catalysts and potions they usually used for their queen whenever she was unconscious. And before Luis could answer Zaila, the King suddenly appeared in the room, already gently laying the queen down on the bed.

"What happened, Your Majesty?" Dani quickly asked as Zaila and Krisha began checking on Queen Mineah’s situation.

"All I know is that Devon attacked her during the parade and placed his bloodthread inside Lady Jayra," King Nikolai told her. "Mine removed it then used her own divine bloodthread to save Lady Jayra’s life."

Dani’s eyes widened as she looked at Krisha and Zaila, both of whom had their lips parted.

"That... That’s a powerful spell... almost akin to battling the Demon King face to face," Dani muttered. "The Demon Blood Thread is just as strong as the Demon King’s power."

Frowning, King Nikolai called for Luis who instantly appeared before him. "I assigned Taro to Lady Jayra to make sure she’s safe and unharmed. Her life and Mine’s are now intertwined because of everything that had happened," Nikolai briefed the man as he spoke. "All of Taro’s pending work will be tasked to you, so coordinate this with him closely."

"I understand, Your Majesty," Luis answered before Nikolai quickly dismissed him.

Meanwhile, Dani and Krisha helped Zaila pour more of their inner energies into the catalysts they surrounded the queen’s body with. Then, like King Nikolai, they all waited for Zaila to complete the spell. Among them, she was the one most gifted with healing abilities. After she was done, she then looked at the king with a sigh of relief.

"There’s nothing to worry about, Your Majesty," Zaila reassured him. "Her physical body is well, and her inner energy hasn’t been depleted. The Queen is merely exhausted, which is only natural since it is her first time performing the kind of spell she just did. She’ll wake up soon."

Hearing those words from Zaila, Dani felt relieved as well.

King Nikolai nodded as he composed himself. "You three can go now. I’ll take over from here," he stated as he dismissed the shadow maidens. "Please ask the cook to bring some food up here. I’m sure Mine will be hungry once she wakes up. She needs to feed her body."

The three of them promptly went outside, and Dani quickly informed the cook of His Majesty’s request before they then gathered in her bedchamber to discuss a few things.

Understandably, the discussion between Zaila and Krisha intensified when it came to the divine dagger inside their Queen’s body. Zaila also mentioned about another strong energy inside their Queen that she couldn’t exactly determine, but she was sure that it wasn’t divine. Still, she couldn’t tell if it was harmful to their Queen or not, so they should probably take a close eye on it.

They were about to discuss a few more things when they were interrupted by someone knocking on their door.

"Lady Dani, are you inside?" a familiar voice asked. It was Dahlia’s. "Can I please have a word with you?"

The three of them exchanged meaningful glances. Clearing her throat, Dani calmed herself before she walked up to the door to open it.

"Ah, please do come in, Lady Dahlia," Dani eagerly beckoned her to enter as she threw the door wide open. "I’m with Lady Krisha and Lady Zaila at the moment."

"Oh, pardon me then," Dahlia quickly apologized with a half smile. "Would it be fine? Or should I just visit later..."

"It’s fine, you can join us for some tea," Zalia casually chimed in from behind. "The three of us just came back from checking on the Queen."

"They’re back?" Dahlia quickly asked. "What happened? Is she alright?"

Dani stared at Dahlia. She truly had this genuine look in her eyes, while Rosela’s eyes were just plain fake. freёnovelkiss.com

"The Queen is well now. The King is with her tending to her personally," Dani replied as she guided her guest to a vacant seat beside Krisha and Zaila. "Please have a seat."

At that, the ladies exchanged curt nods as Dani went and poured some tea into Dahlia’s cup.

"I came to ask about Rosela’s case," Dahlia quickly began as she grabbed the cup of tea given to her.

"Your sister Rosela was really something, you know," Zaila directly stated, swerving the topic away from the warlock. "She’s evil. In fact, are you ready to hear about all the things she did just so she can have the King for herself? Thank the heavens that she didn’t succeed, but they’re still pretty amazing at how evil those deeds were.."

Dani shook her head as she let Zaila tell Dahlia about everything that had happened... After all, the woman deserved to find out what happened to them. In the end, she remained quiet and casually sipped on her tea as she listened, all while observing Dahlia from where she sat. Unknown to her, Krisha was also observing her, so when Dahlia left Krisha was quick to ask her something.

"Why do I have a feeling that you were eagerly scrutinizing Lady Dahlia a while ago?" she pointedly asked. "Is there something going on? I mean, do you think Chancellor Abel will get smitten by Rosela’s twin?"

"Lady Dahlia seems to be a good woman, and it’s very different with Rosela," Dani muttered in reply with a heavy tone. "I witnessed how Abel cried and became a fool over her, so Dahlia could be a better choice for him."

"Do you see how gloomy your face is right now while you say those words, Dani? Think over it a hundred times first and see what your heart truly desires before you talk nonsense like this," Zaila scolded her with a sour expression on her face. "Let’s go, Krisha. Let’s leave Dani on her own so that she can properly assess herself."

Dani simply watched as the two wordlessly left her in her bedchamber. "But I need to see his reaction to this first," she mumbled to herself with a frown. "Maybe then I’ll be able to decide firmly..."

She found herself waiting for the night to soon envelop the sky with darkness because it was when Abel would usually barge inside her bedchamber for her dinner. But then she doubted tonight he would come now that the king was back.

"Right, I should go out and keep myself busy so my mind won’t have room for these unnecessary thoughts," Dani mumbled as she got up from her chair to go back to the Queen’s office. It was still early for her to slack around.

While walking through the hallways, Dani saw Abel talking to Lord Gregory. He smiled at her and Dani simply gave him a curt nod. She released a sigh and flinched when she heard Abel’s voice behind her.

"Wait," she stopped walking and turned at Abel who was now beside her.

"Yes?" she asked with a raised brow.

"Hmm, I’m just giving you some heads up. Take it as a privilege for being my soon to be wife." Abel said with a grin. Dani wondered if she should ask him about Dahlia. She wondered if the two already saw each other but somehow she didn’t have the nerve to ask it now.

"Heads up on what?" she asked.

"About your brother. The King instructed me to send a letter to Ebodia proposing an arranged marriage between Princess Ezme and your brother." Abel informed with a grin.

"What?!" Dani burst.

"You heard me," Abel murmured with a snapped brows. Then he added, "I thought you also noticed something between those two in the encampment so you should have seen this coming. I also told you that Princess Ezme set her eyes on him. That brat has this habit of doing everything in her power to get what she wants. She always has her ways."

"But my brother is..." Dani breathed, unable to finish her words.

"He can always reject the proposal so you don’t need to worry about your brother, Dani. It’s not like King Nikolai will force your brother on Princess Ezme. I’m sure the king did this for a good reason to help his sister in probably making sense out of her situation right now," Abel implored.

"Also, I won’t be able to see you tonight since the king gave me an important task to finish overnight," Abel added with a wink before he quickly disappeared, leaving Dani alone mouth agape.
