Chapter 452: Inseparable

The next day came, and because Dani woke up so late, she was only able to join her family by the time lunch had already arrived.

"Good morning," she greeted everyone on the table.

Abel, who was currently engaged in a conversation with her father, quickly stood up and pulled out a chair for her beside him. She gave him a nod before taking her seat, giving the others a curt nod as well.

"You’re finally awake, sister-in-law," Ezme broke the silence. She then looked at Abel and scolded, "You shouldn’t have tired her out like that last night."

Dani’s face reddened as she quickly defended, "I got drunk, Princess Ezme. I apologize if I wasn’t able to join you for breakfast and greet you early."

"That’s fine, Dani. We’re already married anyway. I’m sure Princess Ezme will understand once she experiences waking up late once she gets married..." Abel teased with a grin. "Though, I guess she still has to wait thirty more days to experience that in following Ebodia’s customs."

Princess Ezme’s face turned red at the teasing, and Dani’s eyes partly widened at what she just heard. She had almost forgotten about the custom that her brother would have to wait for thirty days before getting married since she just had her own marriage.

Quickly composing herself, Ezme looked at her and said, "You can drop the formalities with me, Dani. Just call me Ezme since we’ll soon be family anyway."

Dani simply nodded. "I’ll do that then, Ezme."

From there, lunch went smoothly with them engaging in a bit of casual talk.

"This is good," her mother Donna remarked. "Having two additional members to our family eating together with us like this is nice."

Dani smiled since she agreed with her mother. Meanwhile, she noticed how her brother Atlas wasn’t talking at the moment. He was usually like that, however. In fact, he and their King Ezekiel were very much alike; men with few words who seemed to love frowning instead of smiling. No wonder those two became the best of friends.

Lunch came and went, and Donna then asked her and Ezme to have some late afternoon tea on their veranda. Arriving at their destination, they both took to their seats before sipping on their respective cups.

"Do you want some fresh animal blood?" Dani asked Ezme with a genuine look. She was aware that the princess’s appetite was quite different from her brother, King Nikolai. She was actually surprised to see the princess even eating normal human food with them.

"No, this is good," Ezme answered with a smile. "I’m trying to change my appetite."

"I see," Dani curiously hummed. "By the way, are you going to change yourself just to please my brother?"

Ezme looked at her and her mother with a smile, her eyes sparkling vibrantly. "Yes, I’m willing to give the best I can for Atlas. I want to make an effort for him, even if I can’t change who I am since I was born like this... A vampire..." she sincerely stated. "But I guess I can try catering to what Atlas hates about vampires, so I’ll try not drinking blood from now on."

Dani blinked at what she just heard. Such a declaration was so absurd because blood was where vampires got their energy. Ezme would become weak if this continued. "You’ll get weaker..." she pointed out.

"Physically, yes, but it’s fine. I don’t need to be strong so long as Atlas is by my side," Ezme shrugged. "I can simply be his normal wife."

"But you’re the Minister of War!" Dani burst out.

"I’ll be leaving the post soon, Dani," Ezme chuckled. "I already talked to my brother about this."

Dani was shocked at the revelation. It would seem that Ezme had given up everything she had just for her stubborn brother.

"Although, there’s still something that really worries me," Ezme opened up with a heavy sigh. "I’m not confident if I can ever give it to Atlas.."

Dani could already guess what she meant by those words. Ezme was a female vampire, and not all vampires were blessed to become pregnant with a child.

"It’s fine, my dear. Don’t rush yourself and think too much about it," her mother encouraged. "You and Atlas should enjoy each other’s company more. You two still have a lot of time to spend together."

Dani didn’t comment as she simply watched her mother divert the conversation. All the while, her mind was occupied by Abel who was currently outside with her father and brother. She was contemplating whether or not to ask him if something happened last night. Right now, she was trying her best to recall things, but she really couldn’t remember a thing.

Excusing herself from the conversation, Dani casually walked outside. She assumed that their party lasted till the early morning as everyone was still busy cleaning their courtyard. Looking around, she saw Abel not far away, still with her brother and father as they seemed to be discussing something.

With nothing better to do, Dani turned away and walked towards their barn to check on their horses instead. It had been a while, after all, and she remembered how she loved to often bug Atlas and helped him and the others in feeding horses.

Once she arrived, Dani grabbed one of her favorite horses, Stella, and greeted her. "How are you? It’s been a while since I rode you," she cooed. "How about you come with me and let’s have a stroll around the manor?"

"Can I go with you?"

She heard Abel’s voice coming from behind her, and she couldn’t even stop him as he quickly exerted his presence on her.

"Looks like she’s fit enough to carry us both," he added as he offered his hand to help her climb the horse.

"We have many available horses," she snorted as she climbed onto Stella. "Go and get your own."

Scoffing, she was about to reign in her horse when she suddenly felt Abel climb behind her back, prompting her to move to give him enough space for the two of them.

"Ah, this feels much better," Abel whispered into her ear. "Take the lead on this stroll, dear wife."

Holding her breath, Dani gulped as she felt her body momentarily freeze the moment he suddenly hugged her from behind.

"What are you doing?" she burst out. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com

"Oh, I don’t want to fall, so let me hold onto you tightly like this..." Abel nonchalantly answered.

"Why are you burying your face on my neck," she mumbled with a frown. Not that she didn’t want it, but he was distracting her.

"Hmm... You smell good, and it’s a bit cold so I want more warmth," Abel casually replied. "Atlas is also boring holes in us, so let’s convince him that we’re now inseparable, shall we?"
