Chapter 453: Husband

Dani gulped as she calmed her frantic heart.

"Relax, will you? It’s not like this is the first time our bodies came this close..."

Abel muttered in her ear; his breath hitting against her skin being enough to make all the hairs on her skin stand up. She felt weird again as if something was coiling up inside her stomach. Her face then reddened upon the realization that what she was feeling was not excitement, but arousal. It was... It was embarrassing.

"I guess you don’t remember what happened last night, huh?" Abel mumbled with his chin resting on her shoulder. "I’m no longer surprised."

Dani didn’t know how to respond. It felt good being hugged like this by him from behind. His body wasn’t warm but it was fine since she was feeling hot despite the cold weather.

’I’m going crazy...’ Dani thought as she tried to calm herself. She then asked aloud, "Did I do something last night?"

"We did... We became intimate, but we didn’t do anything since you were drunk," Abel informed her. "I didn’t want to do it without you being sober."

Dani frowned. That could be the reason she felt weird a while ago when she woke up. Still, there was no way she would be able to ask Abel about what happened.

"Dani, go back to the mansion..."

Dani was so consumed with Abel’s closeness that she didn’t even notice that his brother Atlas was now riding his own horse beside them. Though, it wasn’t like they had made a lot of progress since they were still inside the manor’s outskirts.

"Huh?"

"You should go back and spend more time with Mother and Father, Dani," Atlas pointed out. "It’s not like you can always come home to us like this. You and the Chancellor will have more than enough time for each other once you return to Valcrez."

Dani’s face darkened and she cursed under her breath. She was trying to come up with a response, but Abel took the initiative as he got off the horse first before offering her his hand to help her down. Dani accepted, and as soon as she descended from the horse, Abel leaned and whispered, "Don’t worry, wife. It’s not like your brother can still follow us in our bedchamber later."

Dani frowned before simply walking away from the two men. In fact, it would probably be best that Abel was away from her since she couldn’t get a hold of herself at the moment. Walking on her lonesome, she-

"Boo!"

Dani almost had a heart attack as Princess Ezme’s suddenly appeared before her.

"Haha! Where were your thoughts that you didn’t see me approaching you at all, sister-in-law?" Ezme snorted at her.

Dani gave her an awkward smile. "I’m sorry."

Shrugging, Ezme comfortably hugged her arm before stating, "Anyway, your brother seems very determined to fully know Abel, and he’s probably threatening him right now to make sure he won’t make you cry."

Dani turned to look at Ezme. It seemed like the princess already knew much about her brother from the time they spent together.

"How about you come with me and tell me more about Atlas," Ezme offered with a snort as she pulled her down to sit with her under the oak trees. "In exchange, I’ll tell you more about Abel?"

"You know Abel well?"

"Of course!" Ezme chuckled. "I grew up with him and Fritz together with my big brother Nikolai."

"Do you think he loves me then?" Dani directly asked without a blink.

Ezme chuckled then turned to look at her straight in the eye. "Well, I’m not sure about how deep his feelings for you are right now, but I believe you’re the only one who can find that out," Ezme beamed at her. "One thing is assured though. He likes you very very much!"

"I want him to love me," Dani mumbled with a shrug.

"Then make him love you like how I’m making your brother love me," Ezme pointedly replied with a sigh. "I do believe Atlas will require a lot of work compared to Abel though..."

"That’s true," Dani lightly sighed. "My brother will require a lot of hard work on your side. But seeing your determination, I guess you’ll be fine..."

In fact, Dani was pretty sure it’ll all work out. She found it very easy to get along with Ezme, and she enjoyed having productive conversations like this with the Princess of Valcrez. Soon, they then went inside and played some board games with their parents while Atlas and Abel remained outside.

Time flew by quickly from there, and before they knew it, it was already dinner. Dani thought she and Abel would have some private time alone inside her bedchamber soon after, but surprisingly, that didn’t happen.

"Damn... He’s hogging Abel all to himself!" Dani complained as she stared at the fireplace inside her bedchamber. She mulled over her conversation with Ezme a while ago. After much thought, she realized that Abel liking her wasn’t enough for her because she wanted to have all of Abel to herself, especially his heart.

A bit more time passed, and she yawned as slowly she dozed off to sleep, only to be then awakened by something pulling her up and wrapping themselves around her waist. Slowly opening her eyes, she subconsciously smiled upon recognizing Abel’s familiar embrace.

"Did I wake you up?" he murmured on the crook of her neck. He practically reeked of alcohol, but Dani didn’t mind it. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com

"You’re drunk," she sluggishly pointed out. "Is it midnight?"

"Hmm... it is. Your brother has a very high tolerance for alcohol. It took me a long time to knock him down," he mumbled. "It’s already dawn too... For centuries, I haven’t met a human who can outlast me over a drink like him. Fritz would be delighted to meet him."

"He’s a heavy drinker," Dani chuckled. "He and my friend Laura are the same..."

She wanted to fully open her eyes, but she couldn’t help but yawn instead. She was still sleepy since she had been sleep-deprived for days now.

"I’m sorry I woke you up," Abel muttered as he kissed her neck. "Please go back to sleep now, wife."

She sleepily nodded. Him hugging her possessively like this felt really comfortable. "Goodnight, husband," Dani murmured before closing her eyes again with a wide smile on her face.
