The Crown's Seduction-Chapter 472: Bundle of Joy
Chapter 472: Bundle of Joy
Months passed, and Dani was somewhat upset as she placed a hand on her still flat and taut stomach. Somehow, despite near daily and hour-long sessions of lovemaking with Abel, her womb was still without child, and she was honestly thinking if she was a part of the problem or if their luck was just that bad for some reason.
Seriously, how in the world had months passed and she was still not pregnant? It also didn’t help her mood when she always saw her Queen Mineah with her now heavily pregnant belly beaming and smiling like nothing was happening. She was happy for her queen, of course, but just seeing her swelling with life almost taunted her for her own inability to do the same.
"I’m sure it’ll happen sooner or later, Dani," Abel reassured her as he held her by the hand. "We’re just unlucky, that’s all."
"I really hope so too," she sighed as she leaned her head against his chest, her gaze still on her pregnant queen’s stomach. "It’s just not fair seeing that when we’re trying our best to have a child too."
"Hey, at the very least, the act of trying is very much enjoyable," Abel smirked at her. "And I know for a fact that you love it just as much as I do."
Dani blushed at his words. Of course, I do," she admitted. "Why else would we go for hours on end if it wasn’t enjoyable?" freeweɓnøvel.com
Both her and Abel shared a soft chuckle at their own respective admissions. It was the least they could both do as they waited by the sidelines of the Global Summit. It was a once in a lifetime event where multiple monarchs from different kingdoms convened to talk about the state of the world they lived in. For the first time ever, the world would finally be on the same talking field, and there was a chance that lasting peace could be made within these meetings.
"To think that peace might be just around the corner," Dani absently remarked as they watched the meeting from outside the main tent. "Maybe we can finally stop worrying and start just growing the kingdom in earnest."
"That’s my hope too," Abel admitted. "If the constant wars finally stop, we can stop funding our armies and put all of that money to the people instead."
"One can only hope," she chuckled. "Who knows? Maybe there’s going to be-"
"Out my way!"
Dani was cut off when a commotion suddenly erupted from the main tent. Without warning, she saw Queen Mineah being carried to the healer’s tent, and she could only bite her teeth in anxiety as she quickly moved to assess the situation.
"What’s wrong?" she asked the moment she tried to enter the tent with Abel just right behind her.
"Queen Mineah is currently in labor," the healer on duty told her.
"What? Now of all times?" she couldn’t help but ask.
"Yes," the healer deadpanned with a faint smile. "Now leave. We have everything under control. There’s no need for alarm."
Before Dani could try to muscle her way into the tent, Zaila suddenly appeared. She was probably there to assist their queen in birth.
"You," the healer addressed her friend. "Who are you and why are you-"
"I’m here to help the queen as her personal healer," Zaila tersely replied. "Now get out of my way."
Without prompting, the healer gave way, allowing Zaila to enter the tent. Her friend then quickly disappeared, but not before giving Dani a reassuring smile telling her that things would be alright.
Left outside, Dani was forced to sit on a nearby bench with Abel sitting beside her. While the threat of disease was now gone, there were still risks to childbirth, and she couldn’t help but feel worried for her friend’s safety.
"Our queen is strong, Dani," Abel reassured her as he rubbed her back. "I’m sure she’ll be fine."
"I know, but I just can’t help but worry, you know?" she weakly chuckled. "I mean, what if something goes wrong and Zaila can’t solve it? We might lose both the Queen and her children."
"That’s not a nice thing to think, wife," he chuckled back at her. "Just think positively."
Dani couldn’t help but smile at her loving husband as she gripped his hand tightly. He was right. She shouldn’t be worrying over such things. After all, her friend was with the queen right now, and she was sure that... that...
"UGH-"
Her eyes widened as she felt her stomach flip right from under her. Before she knew it, she was doubling over with Abel worriedly cradling her as she threw up.
"Zaila!"
With a shout, Abel summoned her friend from out of the tent, and before Dani could even stop her friend from checking her, Zaila’s hands were already on her. The faint glow of healing magic did little to help her, however, but it did make her feel just a little bit better.
"What’s wrong with her?" Abel seriously asked.
"Actually, nothing’s wrong," Zaila smiled something that made Dani’s hope bloom in her chest. "In fact, this is great news."
Immediately, Dani felt Abel’s grasp on her tighten. "What do you mean?"
"I mean that she’s pregnant," Zaila chuckled as she gave her friend a congratulatory pat on the head. "I would’ve normally teased you right here and now, but I’ll just let you stew in your morning sickness instead."
"W-What?" Dani couldn’t help but laugh in both happiness and confusion. "I-I mean, I’m so happy I could burst, but why not remove my nausea?"
"Because it’s normal," her friend giggled. "Now I must be off. The queen still needs my help, after all."
And with that, they were left alone once more with Abel now grinning from ear to ear as he cradled her in his arms.
"It finally happened," Abel told her with a wide smile. "I told you it’ll happen sooner or later."
"Yeah... I guess that explains why I’ve been craving dragon fruit recently," Dani chuckled.
As a couple, the two of them basked in their shared happiness. And soon after, they would soon have their bundle of joy just like their queen and king.

A/N: This Chapter marked the end of our side story for Dani and Abel. For now, the author will focus on writing The Crown’s Fire and I hope you cast all your votes there. We’ll proceed to write side stories for Niran and Laura but I’m not sure yet when will I start it. Hopefully, I’ll be able to update from time to time...
