Chapter 43: Your Majesty

Three days went by in a blink of an eye. Unlike before, his father was almost always at home, and he would make sure that they ate together.

All in all, the days had become relatively peaceful, although many problems were still waiting for Arren to think about. Particularly his relationship with Spade from then on.

He thought Spade would show up after waking up the next day when he had a late-night conversation with his father. In the end, even after three days had passed, he still couldn’t see any shadow of him.

Arren wasn’t sure if he was disappointed or relieved, but he was grateful that the alpha didn’t put too much pressure on him. And he had the time to ponder of how he should treat the alpha. Overall, his emotions had settled down after the initial shock.

At the end of the day, he couldn’t do anything about it. He might as well accept everything and let things happen because none of his plans would still work.

It was until the next day, Arren woke up in a good mood. He had a feeling that today would be a lucky day for once.

He truly believed this until Arren went downstairs and noticed someone leisurely reading a magazine in the living room. He had yet to completely step down the stairs when he spotted the silhouette of someone he was most awkward seeing.

Arren had to come to a halt, remain frozen in place, and double-check to make sure his eyes weren’t deceiving him.

The perfect side profile defined the man’s well-curated jawline and straight-edge nose. Even his attractive back, which is always straight and upright, almost gives way to his natural instinct for dominance.

Arren didn’t know if he was electrocuted because of his surprise or more because of the presence and attractive appearance of the alpha. Perhaps, it was the combination of the two.

Damn, Arren blanked out and could only stare and gape at the alpha he had complicated feelings for.

Arren already forgot to doubt the reason why the alpha was in their home right now since he already knew Spade’s identity. The mere sight of that figure made him throw all his common sense. He was frozen stiff, standing there looking like an enchanted idiot, which he absolutely was at that moment.

Not for long, the Alpha, engrossed in his reading, might have noticed someone looking at him, looking up and meeting Arren’s gaze. The beautiful but oppressive amber eyes stared intently at him, making Arren shiver.

Arren really found Spade’s eyes expressive and mysterious in a way that a look from him could give someone the illusion that he could easily see through you. Arren didn’t know if that was an innate ability a ruler should have.

Arren began to feel cautious inside after being stared at by those eyes, but it also blossomed into a different kind of feeling. This wasn’t his first time being stared at intensely by those eyes, but the situation became slightly different after knowing the alpha’s identity.

Damn, we’re talking about Spade fucking Remmington here, the Emperor himself. Arren didn’t appear to be rejecting the idea any longer.

After a few seconds of meeting each other’s gazes, Arren coughed slightly and broke their staring contest. He bit his lower lip and continued down the stairs. Even so, Arren could feel the alpha’s gaze on him.

Fortunately, his face was thick enough, and he endured it, as his expression didn’t change that much. His heart, however, continued to beat faster. This damn Spade didn’t even try to hide his stare!

Arren stepped onto the ground floor three steps later, unsure what to do. Should he pay respects to Spade as an Emperor, or should he ignore him and continue to the kitchen?

It might appear petty if he ignored Spade, not to mention disrespectful.

Whatever the case, Arren cursed in his head and strode in front of Spade, who was still sitting on the couch, holding a magazine. Arren could tell Spade was watching him.

"Your Majesty," Arren saluted and bowed his head to Spade.

He couldn’t see Spade’s face, so he didn’t know his reaction. He stayed like that for a few seconds before he raised his head and tried to look at Spade.

Then he was caught off guard when Spade suddenly moved closer and faced him at a closer distance. He stood motionless, unsure what to do, and stared at Spade with wide eyes.

He again met Spade’s gaze, which looked slightly serious as he stared at Arren. Arren couldn’t read those eyes or figure out what he was thinking.

He suddenly became cautious. Did he do something wrong? Why did he appear angry?

"Your Majesty?" Arren inquired, perplexed; damn, Spade’s silence made him uneasy. What the hell was his problem? Looking serious all of a sudden?

Spade didn’t immediately answer Arren but instead stared thoughtfully at him, and Arren had the urge to beat him up if he continued this act. Arren might have boldly done it if he didn’t know his true identity and still mistook him for a royal investigator. But now he had to relax and wait.

After a few seconds of silence and another staring contest, the alpha finally spoke.

"You don’t need to do that," the deep baritone voice, which Arren found very sexy, resounded. The serious atmosphere suddenly became sensual in Arren’s mind.

No, he needed to calm down. Arren needed to damn control himself. This wasn’t the time to fantasize about his voice or be seduced by it!

Arren gathered himself with one mental slap to the face. He also successfully processed what the alpha just said. What did he mean by that? Arren felt stupid again. Every damn time he was talking with Spade, he was always confused! frёeωebɳovel.com

"What do you mean?" Arren blurted out, the respect completely thrown to the side.

Unbeknownst to Arren, he suddenly acted natural again in front of Spade and used the same tone of voice when he still didn’t know the alpha’s identity. Spade, however, noticed the change, and his solemn expression softened.

Their distance stayed at arm’s length, and neither paid attention to it for some reason. As though it was something logical.

Arren even unconsciously took the initiative to grow closer. While he couldn’t smell the alpha’s pheromones, he still wanted to stay closer to the alpha’s presence. One may call it Arren’s omega instincts which made him subconsciously want to be close to his chosen alpha.

A natural reaction from the two, not to mention the attraction they both had yet to recognize. At least on Arren’s part.

"You don’t have to salute me..." Spade spoke softly, his deep voice tingling Arren’s ears as to how close they were. Then Spade continued, almost whispering in his ears, "I already told you my name, right? You can just call me that." The baritone voice, which becomes sexier the lower they are, makes Arren’s ears hotter in an instant.

The tingling sensation almost made him gasp. Damn, was Spade seducing him? Because that was damn effective.

Arren’s mind became chaotic, and he couldn’t respond as he should. He spoke almost instinctively.

"Is... that okay?" His ears were still hot, and Arren was sure they had turned crimson long ago.

The only thing he was fortunate about was that the Alpha didn’t tease him or something. Only after he processed what Spade said a while ago did he glare at Spade. He was clearly mocking him earlier. He had to be thankful that he didn’t have the right mind right now. Otherwise, he’d bite him really hard. So what if he was a fucking Emperor?

Spade chuckled as he saw his glare. And suddenly, Arren’s annoyed expression evaporated into smoke. Why was he so sexy? Arren was already hyperventilating inside. Confirmed the fucking alpha was seducing him.

He also confirmed something else... he didn’t seem to have much resistance against Spade?

The Emperor, who had long suppressed his amusement, now had a grin across his face.

Arren saw it clearly and became enraged once more. The fucking alpha was delighted seeing him in this situation. Just wait, he would seduce him, making him speechless, and Arren would make sure he would leave the alpha a mess in his fucking hard-on that he would go insane.

His eyes also showed this cunning look that made Spade raise his brows. He felt that his little omega had a mischievous thought in his mind.

"Why wouldn’t it be okay?" Spade spoke with a smile and continued with a more provocative tone that made Arren’s whole face completely turn hot and red.

"I don’t like it when you address me like that. It gave a certain distance between us," the seriousness in Spade’s voice was delivered loud and clear to Arren.

The statement itself didn’t have that exaggerated taste that could turn Arren into that hot mess, but its hidden meaning was enough for Arren to hint at what Spade really meant in that statement.

To be honest, Arren wasn’t that oblivious, either. He knew it in his heart. Spade’s actions explained a lot... the alpha was obviously courting him. From the beginning, it seemed... that the alpha had set his eyes on him?

Now, one thing confuses Arren the most... how did the Alpha become interested in him? He didn’t remember anything that would have caught this bigshot’s attention. He never even met him! He really couldn’t remember that he had met him before.
