Chapter 44: Hateful

While he was confused, he didn’t ask about it. Instead, he asked something else.

"As an Emperor, is it necessary to visit the home of one of your subjects?" Arren inquired jokingly. He also saw how the alpha seemed taken aback until it also smiled.

The awkward atmosphere because of their statuses seemed to vanish in an instant; in the first place, it was Arren all along who didn’t know how he should act in front of Spade after he found out his real identity, not the other way around.

A playful smile appeared again on those menacing lips; Arren only could stare. what else he could do? Damn Spade for being so hot. So hateful.

"Why shouldn’t I? Does being an Emperor forbid me from visiting the person I like?" Spade said it like as though it was a simple statement and nothing to be shocked about.

But it wasn’t the case for Arren. That was so... fucking smooth! Gah, why was Spade could easily confess like it was nothing? Could he stop for a moment? He felt that he would suffocate any minute now.

Arren looked away from the alpha, doing every means to hide his increasingly hot face. His lips pouted, and he suddenly became embarrassed.

Why was he acting like it was the first time being confessed to? And it wasn’t even a direct confession!

No, he needed to get his mind together. He shouldn’t be the one that was affected. He swore he would make this hateful alpha speechless too. He would take his revenge!

"Ahem, I just woke up, and I’m starving." Arren immediately changed the topic and slowly made a distance from Spade. "You do what you need to do. I’ll go to the kitchen." like a mouse running from a cat, Arren instantly walked faster toward the kitchen.

Yes, so what if he escaped now? He would just take his loss later. Just wait.

Arren looked back for a while and glanced at the alpha a bit, and he saw Spade glance back at him, and a playful smile emerged from those attractive lips of his, which seemed to be teasing him.

Arren’s heartbeat instantly raised, and to save his sanity, he glared at the alpha and hurriedly stepped toward the kitchen.

Hopefully, Spade won’t follow him in the kitchen because that would be so awkward.

And it turned out Arren was thinking too much; the alpha didn’t follow him into the kitchen. Not like he was disappointed... well, Arren was honestly a bit disappointed.

Still, he was thankful that he would have the time to eat his fill without Spade watching him. He just wanted to eat in peace, for now.

As for what Spade was going to do, or what was the reason for his visit in the first place? That wasn’t his business. He was the Emperor anyway, and he could do anything he wanted. It was what you called privileged.

Arren pursed his lips, shook his head, and concentrated on what he originally intended to do: eat. Since he had already decided in his mind, Arren would really do it.

He immediately set aside Spade’s matter and enjoyed his food. What else would be more important than food? Of course, nothing could compare to it. He happily tasted all the food the servants served him.

Only in his second life did Arren have an opportunity to eat anything he wanted and the dishes and cuisine he longed for and craved in his previous life.

Since he had heart disease before, a lot of foods were not allowed for him to eat. So, even though he was tempted to eat some delicious foods, Arren had to think if it could lead him to some complications.

Most importantly, Arren always had to keep his parent’s condition in mind. He knew what his weak condition had already given them, not just for finances but more for the pain and uneasiness every time he got hospitalized.

As a result, he really was such a foodie in this life. Arren could try many dishes and won’t get tired of them. A healthy body was really the best. He didn’t need to restrain himself a lot like he used to.

After he ate his fill, Arren thanked all the aunts and sisters in the kitchen as he left full of contentment. And if he noticed their eyes full of amazement, Arren chose to close his eyes.

Well, they always had the same reaction every time he was in the kitchen anyway. An aunt even admitted that she really hoped his sons would be like Arren... so enthusiastic about eating his food.

Arren naturally ignored the implication. After all, he acknowledged that his appetite was so big, which wasn’t evident in his delicate and thin build. But in fact, he could eat a lot. Three portions of food were not a problem when he felt like it.

Once he was back in the living room, Arren didn’t see the alpha there. The magazines Spade was reading had already been neatly arranged on the table.

He raised his brows and looked around. There was no one there. The living room was utterly silent.

Did Spade already return to the palace?

Now, he was upset all of a sudden. Wait, why would he be upset? Perhaps the alpha visited their house because of his father.

He just happened to see the alpha on the way into the kitchen. Now, in this conclusion, Arren’s mood became visibly sour.

His expression darkened as he cursed Spade in his mind.

Fucking alpha, flirting with him so naturally, and it turned out he didn’t even say goodbye to him. Such an asshole.

This Emperor was really a scum. Arren swore he would ignore him the next time he saw him.

Arren’s stomach was full of anger as he strode back to the stairs, his steps incredibly heavy. He walked all the way to his father’s study. His lips were pressed together in a thin line as his face obviously shows his emotions.

He didn’t even knock to inform his father of his arrival and entered immediately. Arren was used to it, barging into his father’s study so he could enter without permission. Duke Katz also ignored this and let him. As he also was aware of when to bother his father and not, especially if he had some visitors to meet.

However, it seemed like this time was different. His father was not alone in the study.

"Dad! I want to know–-" his voice got cut midair as his figure froze.

Arren’s gaze immediately landed on the two until he was only staring at the alpha currently sitting authoritatively in the head seat.

Their gazes met, and those amber-colored eyes lingered at Arren’s expression before the alpha’s eyes flickered in amusement as though he had realized something. Arren bit his lips and looked away as if he got caught in the act.

Duke Katz saved the seemingly embarrassing situation of Arren.

"Oh, son. What are you saying just then?" he paused and looked at the Emperor before he glanced back at Arren, "And... Arren, I’m talking with His Majesty. Can you just say it later?" His calm tone and voice helped a bit, and the atmosphere returned to normal.

And even if Duke Katz noticed something between Spade and Arren, he turned a blind eye. It was their business, and he wouldn’t blindly interfere unless necessary. But as he could discern.... it seemed the situation was better than expected.

Before Arren could respond, Spade said something first.

"It’s okay, Duke. I don’t really mind. It seems... Young Duke had something important to say." The deep baritone voice echoed throughout the room, and while his tone seemed carefree, Arren still clearly made out the slight teasing in it, especially that title. Even the slight smile didn’t help at all.

Arren resisted glaring at Spade in front of his father, so all he could do was look in the direction of his father as he also chose to completely ignore Spade’s presence. This damn alpha seems to enjoy making fun of him.

This bastard... Arren would really make him pay. He would never be at peace if he were the only one always on the losing side. Spade Remmington, you wish being an Emperor made you great? Huh! Arren would let Spade realize that alphas shouldn’t be making fun of their omegas, or else they would be the one who suffers in the end. ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom

Spade’s smile suddenly faded as a bad feeling dawned on him, his gaze focused on the omega ignoring him. His brows shot up, and Arren seemed to have planned in his mind again.

"No, dad. I’m sorry for disturbing your meeting with His Majesty. I’ll see you later," Arren hurriedly walked out without even looking at the two’s reaction.

He even unconsciously loudly slams the door.
