The Knight's Mysterious Maid-Chapter 204: Rafael’s lover (1)
Chapter 204: Rafael’s lover (1)
Rafael pulled Annalise closer and rested his head on her shoulder. He had seen the knights play with around and dance with death, but it was never as stressful as seeing Annalise enjoy someone trying to stab her with a knife.
"I’m sorry," Annalise apologised once more. She wanted to have fun and would do this all again if they could go back to Olivia approaching her, but she couldn’t stop feeling sorry for Rafael.
It was like the times she caused her father or Thomas to worry, but she felt more guilty even though it was a small fight with a knife. Her father would never worry if he saw her in a fight with a tiny little knife. He was always more concerned for the other person and he would then pick her up, hold her over his shoulder, and take her somewhere else to not fight.
She still didn’t think it was worth getting upset over, but she apologised because Rafael was upset about it. Even though he was aware that she knew how to use a sword, he did not know the full extent of how she could defend herself. There was a lot more to her that he had not seen.
Rafael might find it hard to believe, but she knew when to quit. She knew when the situation was too dangerous and she had to call for help. Annalise liked her life to be so foolish to end it so soon.
"From now on, I won’t enjoy fighting anyone in front of you. Not that we can call that a fight," Annalise muttered. She was still annoyed that the one fight she had in such a long time was disappointing.
Where was the blood and rolling in the grass to stop a knife from coming close to your face? Where was the excitement or the person who would give her a challenge?
"Annalise, that does not make it any better," Rafael said.
"Maybe it is time you stop liking me since I will always be chasing the thrill from fighting. That was my one time to have fun and you ended it before it could start. Rafael," Annalise said, looking behind him at where their captive was crawling away like a little worm. "She is trying to get away. You know, this problem would have been long solved if you had let me keep a snake in my room like a guard dog."
Olivia gritted her teeth as she ignored the pain in her hand and tried to get to her feet to start running. There was a carriage meant for her and Annalise to leave at the side of the manor so all she needed to do was get there.
"She’s not going to get far," Rafael replied, keeping his hold on Annalise. The maid trying to get away found it easy to get inside the manor, but it would not be easy to get out. It wouldn’t take long for him to run and catch her so he could enjoy his closeness to Annalise a little longer.
"How long must you lean on me? You are heavy. Is Beatrice really your mother?" Annalise asked, now thinking of how much it had to hurt for Beatrice to give birth to Rafael.
It seemed impossible for a large man to come from a small woman. She pictured him as a big child you would need two people to pick up. How was anyone to deal with such a large man?
"You must break women in half," Annalise accidentally spoke out loud. "Oops," she folded her lips. Just when she thought she could control her mouth. "It isn’t what it sounds like. I mean to... to hold you like this would break them."
Rafael lifted his head from her shoulder to get a good look at how Annalise appeared when she was lying. "I have not broken anyone," he answered to humour her. "You seem to be doing just fine right now."
Annalise tried not to look up at Rafael since she knew he had to be smiling at her for placing herself in a hole. It wasn’t like she was the only one to think about it. The maids liked to enjoy themselves by talking about what it would be like to sleep with a big man like him and she had seen his... sword.
With his large frame and his weight, Annalise couldn’t imagine any young lady being in pure bliss and not feeling like she was being torn in two. Annalise first felt for the young woman who slept with him, but now she had to wonder if that was part of why the women were so obsessed. Did rumours fly around?
There had to be one person who talked about their time with Rafael.
Annalise thought further about how these women lay under him with his weight. The women here looked so fragile and she knew many of them had never dealt with anything heavy in their lives. Annalise, on the other hand, was not weak. She was almost going to drag him the night she thought he was drunk and then there were times she stopped herself from wanting to flip him.
Now that she thought about it, Rafael was not as heavy as he looked, but maybe it was because she was used to such weight. She had dragged her father in the past and he looked heavier than Rafael.
"What are you thinking about so intently?" Rafael asked, occasionally glancing over his shoulder at Olivia trying to escape. She had gotten up and started to run, but he wasn’t so concerned about it.
"That I can handle you," Annalise honestly answered. If it was anyone else, Rafael leaning on their shoulder would have made them fall, but she was strong.
Rafael was stunned by her answer. She said it so confidently that he believed they were not on the same page right now. "Annalise," he paused to settle himself before asking it all at once. "Annalise, are we still referring to sex?"
"What? Why would you think that is what I meant? I meant with holding you up. I told you sex wasn’t what I meant when I spoke about breaking women in half. It might have been," Annalise admitted after a short pause and Rafael not believing her words. "But we have moved on from that since it has nothing to do with me. We need to go after her," she said, walking around him.
"If you are ever curious, you can come to my room and see for yourself how wonderful our bodies are," Rafael said jokingly to tease Annalise.
"Certainly not!" Annalise turned down the offer. "I am going to stay far away from you."
"You are to come to my room tonight. You promised in exchange for me letting you lure her out. I didn’t take you for a woman who goes back on her word. I’ll be really disappointed-"
"I won’t be there tonight if you do not shut up. I am starting to prefer it when I was not your maid. I didn’t have to deal with a giant child. We should be more focused on where another maid wanted to take me. She said there was someone who wanted to meet me. Who is it, Olivia?" Annalise called after Olivia.
Annalise jumped when Rafael ran past her to catch Olivia. He should be the one running since it was because of him that Olivia had time to run away.
Annalise stopped to watch Rafael hunt down Olivia. She tilted her head as she took in the speed he ran at and his frame as he moved.
It was too dangerous to be held by him since she enjoyed the feeling of his rock-hard body on her own and then she could not get rid of the memory of him standing in armour.
He had all the things that she liked, but she could do nothing since she would one day have to go back to where she belonged and she could not disappoint her father.
