The Knight's Mysterious Maid-Chapter 367: Friends (3)
Chapter 367: Friends (3)
"I am not married," Annalise answered, pulling her hand away from Giselle. "Rafael has just ordered everyone to address me as the lady of the manor."
"Without a ring? That is odd," Giselle said, confused as to why a ring wasn’t on Annalise’s finger if Rafael would go so far as to give her that title. "See to it that he proposes to you before you do anything with him. Do not let him dangle that title in your face, but not make it official with a ring. It has happened a few times where men ended up marrying someone else so the title meant nothing to the women they led on."
"Rafael isn’t a fool to lead me on. I just might kill him," Annalise said, watching Heidi walk up the steps.
"You’ll kill the commander of knights? That’s funny," Giselle chuckled, playfully tapping Annalise’s arm. She never heard of a woman so crazy to think she could kill Rafael.
"Why couldn’t I? He lets his guard down with me so much. How many times must I say that if I wanted to, I could? Doing it to you would be easy too," Annalise said, looking to her right at Giselle’s neck. "Just one snap. You didn’t get candy?" Annalise asked Heidi, turning away from Giselle.
Giselle touched her neck, feeling worried about it now. It scared her that she couldn’t tell if Annalise was serious or trying to scare her. "Am I safe here?" She asked. Even with her brother as one of the knights here, would he make it in time to save her?
"You are safe. I was just scaring you," Annalise said, touching Giselle’s hand to calm her. "How would I ever be able to hurt Rafael or you? I like both of you anyway."
"Right," Giselle nervously laughed. "That would be impossible. You got me," she said, sliding her hand down to her chest to try to calm herself.
"I did get a few," Heidi answered, taking out a bag she stuffed in her dress.
"Heidi, I love you but you need to treat my candy with respect and not squash them. Poor things," Annalise said, happily taking the bag from Heidi.
"Poor things that you are going to eat," Heidi muttered.
"Annalise, we went far off from something important. You must get him to put a ring on your finger. Only then will what he gets the servants to call you matter. You must get the ring and be married," Giselle said, grabbing Ananlise’s shoulders.
"Now the look in your eyes is scaring me," Annalise said, wanting to look away from Giselle’s eyes, but she couldn’t bring herself to. "I will be fine. I will get married one day in the future, but as of right now, I don’t want to change our relationship."
Giselle panicked upon hearing this. Her hold on Annalise’s shoulders became tighter. "They are going to talk about you. Saying that as a former maid, he is just parading you around like a mistress and you are foolish to think you are a proper lady. Delilah is still going around saying that she and Rafael will get married. That her father is up to something to make it happen. I can’t lose to her."
"Honestly, the two of you were never in a competition since Rafael didn’t want either of you," Annalise said, taking Giselle’s hands off her shoulder before they could leave a mark. "I will be fine. Delilah or what anyone has to say does not concern me. We should go and talk in private."
"How could you not be concerned? How could she not be concerned?" Giselle asked Heidi.
Heidi shrugged her shoulders, not knowing what to say since Giselle didn’t know what she knew.
Annalise was in a good position to not worry about getting married so soon. Now that Annalise and Rafael were not hiding their relationship, everyone saw how much they loved each other and knew it was inevitable that they would get married in the future.
Giselle sighed, touching her forehead as they walked into the manor. "Luckily, you have me to help you. Where is Rafael? Is he still hiding from me?"
"Yes," Annalise answered.
"He has no reason to. I have some pride not to go after a man taken. It would be a waste of my time. So, are there any other men not yet taken you can introduce me to? I was hoping to get married before the season ends," said Giselle.
"I am first," Heidi spoke up, but bit her lip as she remembered she needed to be quiet during Annalise’s talk with her guest.
"Easy now. The two of you seem to forget that this manor is full of men. There are plenty of them to pick from though I don’t really know if they would make good partners for you. There is- Thomas," Annalise said his name as she spotted him walking with Ezra.
"Oh! I remember him," Giselle said, watching Thomas.
Annalise looked to her left at Heidi.
Heidi shook her head, knowing what Annalise was thinking. "She can give it a try. I don’t want to be involved with someone who used to like you or still does," she said.
"Used to like her? Isn’t that her brother? Did you two..." Giselle trailed off, hoping something weird was not going on.
"He’s not my brother. I lied about that because of something I cannot share. You are free to court him, but I must warn you that he will shy away. Give it a little time, but- And she’s already walking away," Annalise said, shaking her head at Giselle.
"It seems more like a punishment for him than you helping her. Now that you have pointed her to someone, will you help me? How about a knight like Christian?" Heidi asked.
Annalise frowned, feeling like her day was ruined by hearing Heidi say Christian’s name. "Please stay far away from that man. He is insufferable. I can’t wait to knock him on his ass," she said, clenching her fist. She would never forget her trying to run away and him making her have to stay with Giselle. "He’s at the top of my list with those chickens."
"I’m not going to try asking what you mean about chickens. Maybe it is because you have Rafael and he is handsome so you don’t need to pay attention to other men, but Christian is also handsome and when he is not annoyed, he is kind. It doesn’t have to end in marriage. I just want someone to spend my free time with. Please," Heidi begged.
"Heidi, you’re embarrassing me," said Annalise.
"No one is around. I would even go for Micheal, Julien, Nolan, Weston-"
"I don’t know all of those knights well, but I will help you if it means you go for anyone other than Christian. There is also Logan," Annalise suggested, finding him to be a good friend now that his crush was over.
"That is another one who liked you so I must decline. Cara!" Heidi called out to Cara.
Annalise looked further down the hall, past where Giselle stood with Thomas, to Cara walking with a basket in her hands. Their eyes met for a moment, but then Cara looked away to continue with her work.
Heidi, feeling bad for Annalise said, "I’m sure she’ll come around soon."
"It’s fine," Annalise replied, not bothered by it. "There are so many awful stories about my people to scare you so her reaction is not surprising. I can wait or if our friendship is over, at least it didn’t end on a really bad note."
