The Knight's Mysterious Maid-Chapter 368: Something new (1)
Chapter 368: Something new (1)
"This dress would suit your skin."
"Kayla, I already told you that I am not here to look for a dress. I need to find a way to deliver a message to Rafael to tell him Annalise is in danger. A dress can wait," Siena said, walking away from the shop window they stopped in front of. "If only he didn’t give me more guards." frёeωebɳovel.com
Kayla sighed, wishing Siena would stop worrying about Annalise. Siena trying to protect Annalise was getting her in trouble with Travis and it wouldn’t be long before her father would start sending letters.
"I don’t think you should get involved with what he is planning to do to that woman. Who is going to protect you if Travis finds out you warned Rafael? You were meant to marry him anyway. That wild woman is getting in the way," said Kayla.
Kayla was determined to keep Annalise far away from Siena after Annalise killed someone in front of them. Siena should not associate herself with the likes of Annalise. "You have no reason to worry about her when she can fight. You need to worry about yourself."
"I told her name. How can I not feel guilty? I’ve already come to terms that Rafael is not meant for me. I’ve already wasted a lot of my time on a man I didn’t know. I’m not going to waste more time trying to get him to stop loving her and love me. I need to find a way to pass on the note," Siena said, looking over her shoulder at the guards Travis assigned her.
After she kept Annalise’s relationship with Rafael a secret, Travis didn’t trust her and gave her more guards to monitor her movement. Requesting that she go to town to get what she needed for his party was an excuse to send a message to Rafael, but Travis was one step ahead of her.
"They are more interested in watching me. I will cause a distraction for you to pay someone to send this note to Rafael," Siena said, patting around her hair for the note she snuck in there. It worked in her favour to hide the note since Travis checked her bag before he left to meet with someone he said was important.
Kayla was against taking the note because, unlike Siena, Travis would hurt her if he found out. There was also the fact that she didn’t like that Siena had lost to Annalise.
Kayla made a promise to Siena’s father that he would help to make sure Siena would be wed by the end of the season. He had done so much for her that she didn’t want to fail him and Siena being her good friend made her want to do whatever was necessary to help her get Rafael.
Before they knew about Annalise, all Siena could talk about was Rafael. If Annalise were not around, Siena would go back to wanting to be with Rafael. Then they wouldn’t have to worry about Travis becoming upset with Siena.
Kayla took the note from Siena with the plan to drop it somewhere instead of sending it to Rafael. She wanted the best for Siena and if Siena continued to go down this path of worrying about someone else other than herself, she was going to get hurt.
Kayla cared more about Siena than some random maid to feel sorry for not giving Rafael a warning.
"You should hurry off as soon as I get their attention. Understood?" Siena asked, placing the money Kayla needed to use in her hand.
"Understood," Kayla replied.
"I thought that was you. Siena, was it?"
"Who," Siena said, turning around to see the face of the familiar voice. "You are one of the knights, right? Or am I wrong?"
Logan looked down at his clothes. "Without the armour, it is hard to recognise me. I saw you and your maid being all secretive and thought I could join in the fun. Are you in trouble?" He asked, looking at the men approaching him. "You only need to say the word and I could help you."
"We shouldn’t be seen together," Siena whispered. She didn’t want Travis to get the wrong idea about her and this knight.
Logan leaned down and asked softly, "Why not? Am I ugly in your eyes, or do you think they can beat me?"
Siena didn’t think it was either one of his options. She just wanted to protect him from Travis thinking she was getting distracted. With Travis disliking Beatrice for becoming distracted by a knight and ruining her engagement, he would think Siena was following the same path as Beatrice though that wasn’t the case.
"It is alright. He is someone close to Rafael," Siena said to her guards, hoping they wouldn’t chase him away. This was what she needed to get a message to Rafael. "Did you hear about the party? Do you mind telling me what colour he might be wearing so I could match?" She purposely asked loud enough for the guards to hear.
The guards stopped to watch Siena and the random man talk.
Logan caught on to what she was doing and answered, "Maybe black. He doesn’t love bright colours. Let me show you what might be good for you to wear," he said, turning her around to back the guards.
"Travis knows about Annalise and he has her name," Siena whispered as fast as she could right before she felt a hand on her shoulder. Siena thought it would be one of her guards, but it was Kayla who reached her first. "It is fine. I will tell Travis that I ran into one of Rafael’s knights," she said to stop the guards from coming close again.
Logan put his hands up to show he wasn’t here to fight though he wanted to since they looked to be bothering her. She was afraid of something and if she wanted, he could get rid of the idiots behind her and take her to the manor.
"He ranks high among the knights. If you fight him and anger Rafael, it will be you three who need to face Travis to explain. You are right here. If I wish to send him away, I will tell you. Please walk with me," Siena said, walking ahead first.
Logan grinned at the guards and then followed her, walking by her maid who looked scared out of her mind. When he caught up to Siena he asked, "Are you sure you don’t want me to take you to the manor?"
"That will just cause more problems for me to solve. You shouldn’t walk around alone after today. Travis might come after you thinking that we might become lovers," Siena said, turning away from Logan to watch the little children running around, talking about snow.
"Lovers when all I did was come to greet you. If it’s going to anger him, I don’t mind. I get to annoy the man bothering Rafael and hear that I am courting a beautiful woman. Oh, do you want an apple? They are for my aunt, but I can give away one. They are sweeter than normal," Logan said, searching the bag filled with fruits and vegetables for the apple.
Siena stopped walking, taken aback by his sudden compliment. "What?" She asked.
Logan was so focused on finding that apple that he missed her reaction. "An apple. You know those shiny red things."
