Chapter 613: Apple of the same tree

"Baby, are you sure about it? I suggest you wait for some more time and focus on healing properly. Because of only healing halfway and going into a battle zone again and again where your limits and powers get tested, your body is suffering greatly," Sebastian said, looking at her with a concerned expression.

Elliana nodded her head. She understood what her husband was trying to tell her. And she wanted to rest too. But with limited time, she needed to solve this situation with the witches before she left so that no one bothered her husband and family.

That was the least thing she could do for them after bringing them so much pain.

"I won’t use my powers. Mom, dad, and brother Nathaniel will also be there. Besides, can anyone really touch me when you are near and holding me in your arms?" Elliana asked, and Sebastian sighed.

He could see what she was doing. She always does this. Whenever she needs something in her favour, she starts sugarcoating things and uses those heartfelt words that always melt him.

"Huh, it’s not like you will listen to me anyway. Even if you don’t go, I bet you will have a proper rest with a calm mind. Call Nathaniel and tell him the arrangements. I will call the royal cottage to ensure the witches are there. Okay?" He asked, and Elliana nodded.

Once Sebastian left, Elliana quickly messaged Nathaniel.

[Come to the royal cottage with Mom and Dad. This is something important, so make sure all of you come there. It is about the witches who made their presence known in the battle area where we were fighting with the humans. Also, keep yourself prepared for a bigger shock in your life.] Elliana sent the message before stuffing the phone in her pocket.

Seeing Lucas walking inside at some distance, she stopped him.

"Yes, Princess," Lucas asked.

"I forgot to ask your King, but what happened to that witch we caught in the palace? Sophia, I mean," Elliana asked, and Lucas pressed his lips into a thin line.

The hesitancy in his eyes was a clear indication that she wasn’t going to like the truth about the matter, but she still wanted to hear it.

"Princess Elliana, it would be for good if you could hear the answer from the King -"

"Are you that incapable, Mr. Pablo?" Elliana asked, tilting her head slightly as she looked at him.

Her eyes didn’t change, nor the expression on her face, but Lucas knew he couldn’t afford to make her angry. Besides, it wasn’t something that would change anything in anyone’s life.

After contemplating how to put his words, he sighed and nodded.

"She died, Princess. She was carrying some kind of poison in the ring she was wearing. Probably cyanide. As soon as the King started asking her questions and inflicting some pain, and she noticed she couldn’t bear it any longer, and our King didn’t have any intention of leaving her, she ate the poison. However, she indeed said something. We were confused and didn’t -"

"What did she say?" Elliana cut him off mid-explanation, and Lucas sighed.

"If you think you got it all sorted, I haven’t seen a bigger fool than you. Do you think this is the reality? Do you think those people you think are gone are actually gone? Are they even real?"

Lucas said the exact words that the witch had told them.

He looked at the Princess, who was deep in thought before she nodded at him.

"Can you ask a chauffeur to take me to the royal cottage?" Elliana asked.

Lucas was already informed about the arrangements by his King, who already left because he needed to talk about something important with Prince Vincenzo.

Thus, he immediately nodded.

"Yes, Princess. I will ask Harry to drive you to the cottage," He said before leaving.

After around half an hour, Elliana finally stepped out of the car and looked at the royal cottage.

She asked Nathaniel how far they were and soon received a reply.

"I was able to summon Mom and Dad only now because they had gone to talk to some witch clans. We are arriving in a couple of minutes. Let me brief them on everything that happened," Nathaniel said through the message, and Elliana stuffed her phone in her pocket before looking at Harry.

"You want to accompany me?" She asked casually.

"It’s the King’s order, Princess. From now on, you will always have one of us trusted subordinates with you wherever you travel," Harry said.

Elliana nodded in understanding. She didn’t want to argue with something. If it made her husband feel secure, she was ready to go with it.

"That’s fine by me. Let’s go," Elliana said, and they walked towards the doors of the royal cottage.

Harry looked at the guards, and they immediately opened the large doors of the cottage.

As soon as they entered, Elliana heard the familiar voice.

"You can count on me, King Sebastian. I only have your best in mind, and I will be able to -" The girl couldn’t complete her sentence as her gaze met with Elliana, who turned around the corner to enter the hall just in time.

Elliana’s gaze met with the girl standing close to her husband, and a scoff escaped her mouth.

"The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, does it? It runs in the blood. Seducing your sister’s man," Elliana’s words were sharp, and Sebastian raised his brows at his wife.

It was true that they were standing facing each other, but there was still a metre distance between them.

"We can count on you?" Elliana asked, her eyes fixated on the girl, making Sebastian clench his fists.

It had been forty seconds since she entered the room, and she had yet to look at him, and he didn’t like any second of it.

"Princess-" Sebastian called out to her, but Elliana didn’t look at him. Her glare was fixated on the girl, who subconsciously stepped back.

"That’s not what I meant, Elliana -" freeweɓnovēl.coɱ

"That’s Princess Elliana to you," Elliana said before she finally looked at her husband, her gaze stern.

She wasn’t accusing him.

Elliana knew better than anyone that the man had eyes only for her.

Nor was she angry at HER, as a matter of fact. She was just finding the truth hard to digest, and when it wasn’t her place to get angry, she didn’t want to believe the girl who was siding with Azrael in that maze that Arizona created.

This girl had ample chances to help her, but she chose to stay back and watch the show and now she wants to act like she is on their side and they can count on her. What a fat joke!

"Forgive me for the choice of my words and -"

"What do you really want, Ari? Can you save us some time and drama? You are not on our side so just drop the act. You are here to gain something from us in the name of favouring us. Do we look stupid to you?" Elliana asked as she saw Sebastian walking towards her.

"Do you want me to stay?" Sebastian asked, and seeing him gazing at his phone, again and again, Elliana pressed her lips into a thin line.

"If it’s important, you can attend to that. I will be able to handle it. Don’t worry. Mom and Dad will be here soon," she said and Sebastian nodded before kissing her forehead.

"I will be back soon," Sebastian said as he picked up the call, nodding at his loyal men who immediately formed a semi-circle behind Elliana, ready to jump forward and protect her from anything.

"Sister Elliana, I know that what happened in the maze has left an ugly impression on you. But believe me, I was helpless at that time. Azrael captured my mother. Honestly, I had no idea you would be able to crack the Maze. I was just protecting the Maze from Azrael because Dad... " Ari stopped as tears brimmed her tears.

"I mean your dad was there," she completed her sentence and Elliana gritted her teeth.

She wasn’t stupid to not notice the pain in those eyes.

Anyone could see how emotional that girl was when the realization dawned upon her that the real daughter of King Eros was standing in front of her, and she probably had no right to call him dad.

Elliana clenched her fists to control her emotions. She didn’t want to appear weak in front of this girl by showing sympathy or empathy.

But who could she ignore? Once more, these elders destroyed the lives of their kids by being impulsive and thinking about themselves only.

If she thought logically, what was Ari’s fault in all this? Elliana took a deep breath, her gaze shifting to the side where her family appeared using teleportation.

"Baby, what’s the matter? Nathaniel said you wanted to talk to us urgently about something and -" Azura stopped speaking as her gaze landed on Ari.

"I-Is she -?" Azura stuttered.

And just like she had expected, Elliana saw her mother’s heart breaking immediately.
