Chapter 682: What kind of gain?

Elliana looked at the extended hand in front of her like it was something alien before she shifted her gaze to Sebastian’s eyes looking at her hopefully.

It was true that she was hurt when he had said those words to her, but it didn’t mean he didn’t deserve a second chance.

Besides, it was just friendship, right?

"Are you sure about it? I am a witch," Elliana said and the man looked at her resolutely, his gaze not wavering from her face.

He nodded his head.

"Positive," He said and Elliana hummed.

She stepped ahead and held his hand in hers, shaking it lightly.

"Friends, I guess," she whispered and Sebastian smiled behind the mask.

"So, do you want to go on a coffee date with me? To celebrate the new bond of friendship?" Sebastian asked and Elliana furrowed her brows at him.

She looked hesitant at him.

Wasn’t he rushing a bit too much?

"But I have lectures ahead," Elliana said.

Sebastian smiled at her, his eyes crinkling a little from behind the mask.

"I’ll wait," he said and she bit her bottom lip.

His hands raised on their own accord before they evened her lips from his thumb.

"That’s my-" He paused when he realized what he was going to say this time.

His pupils dilated. It was almost like a muscle memory. He didn’t even think about it and his mouth was already moving to say those words to her. This was his right? His right to bite her lips? Since when?

Sebastian looked into her surprised eyes, but she didn’t look like she minded his touch when he touched her lips. The look of pure innocence in her eyes was making him want to protect her in ways no one ever had.

He was overreacting for sure. Or why would he look at her and feel she was worth dying for?

Why was he finding her more and more beautiful with each passing day? It made no sense. He wasn’t into witches.

"I think I should leave," Elliana said and Sebastian nodded, needing some time for himself to control his overflow of emotions.

Elliana nodded before turning around and walking towards her next lecture rather than going back to the laboratory.

As soon as she was at enough distance from him and knew he wasn’t following her, she stopped near the stairs and leaned on the wall with her hand placed on her chest.

Her heart finally exploded with all those strange unfamiliar emotions as she felt a weird ache in her heart. What was happening to her? Why was she attracted to this particular man without knowing anything about him and knowing how dangerous he could be?

She wasn’t here to make permanent friends. Even though she calls Samantha and others her friends, she never says yes to anyone’s friendship because she knows this is temporary and she doesn’t like making temporary promises.

Saying yes to Sebastian’s friendship felt like a promise that she made subconsciously and she didn’t like any second of it. Why? Because she knew this was wrong in so many ways.

Elliana took a deep breath to remove all those thoughts. She was here to study and try to learn if a change in environment would help her with her magic or not.

Meeting Sebastian was just like a passing phase. Yes. That was what it was. She told herself, looking at her hands, which had a small glow out of nowhere.

She didn’t know if it was related to King Sebastian, but he had a way of provoking her heart in a way that whenever he had been around, it had been the only time when she saw this glow on her hand.

It might just be her superstitious thinking, but what if it was true? Who knows? Elliana shook her head and entered the class, sitting in the last seat of the empty class as she gazed out of the window.

As if the moon goddess was trying to bring her thoughts together and forcing her to keep thinking about that particular man. As soon as she looked out, she spotted the man standing near the car and talking to someone over the call.

His aura was undefeated. There were no lies to it.

He wasn’t called the monster of his species for no reason. The way he was standing, oozing this kind of confidence, radiating with such dominance even when he was only talking on call, she couldn’t help but wonder what could the King gain from being her friend.

She was a witch. True. But it was also true that she didn’t know how to use her magic. Was he really being genuine with her? As if that man felt someone looking at him, he quickly turned around and looked straight at the window.

Elliana, who thought he wouldn’t be able to look at her from that kind of distance because of the light-tainted color of the window, didn’t know how wrong she was.

Sebastian looked at the girl, looking directly at him, his beast wanting nothing more than to climb those walls and meet her out of her window to give her a surprise.

This reminded him. If she was here for the student exchange program and residing in one of the cottages provided by the University facility... A smirk appeared on his face.

This was wrong. He agreed. He was long for god’s sake. But he was also ready to go to that extent to get his answers and know what was about this particular girl that had attracted him so much.

Sebastian turned around, not wanting her to think he caught her staring.

Elliana breathed a sigh of relief before looking ahead when the students started to enter the class.

She was surprised when someone came and sat beside her.

When she noticed it was none other than Dexter, she quirked her brows.

"What? A slave needs to be close to his master," Dexter said, and her lips twitched at his cuteness.

Elliana wanted to say that he didn’t need to act like that and that it was just a game and she was kidding when the boy placed a muffin in front of her.

She looked at the muffin with a smile and grinned at him.

Well, she didn’t want it, but now she thinks she can get used to this.

"Thank you," Elliana blinked her eyes, grinning at him.

Dexter looked at the atrociously happy girl and rolled his eyes at her.

"Eat it or throw it. I don’t care," He said and Elliana could see a blush rising to his cheeks, a clear indication that he was a little embarrassed.

"Why would I throw it? My slave brought something for me for the first time. Of course, I am going to enjoy this," Elliana grinned and Dexter glared at her, but before he could say anything, she pinched his cheeks, making him clear his throat and swat her hands away.

Though anyone could see from his face that he didn’t really mind it.

Once the lecture was over, Dexter went away with his friends, not wanting to be more influenced by this girl who was here temporarily. Though he won’t like it, she has definitely captivated his attention because she wasn’t like others who craved his attention.

He saw her walking towards the exit of the university and walked away.

As soon as Elliana exited the corridor, she bumped into someone and almost fell back if not for the person who held her hand right in time.

"Are you okay?" Elliana heard a voice that sounded strangely familiar and looked at the man in front of her.

"I am sorry," Elliana said, not liking the vibes from him for some reason. It was almost as if her body wanted to protect herself from him.

And it was really strange because the man in front of her was a human.

Her body’s reaction to his presence was really strange and she didn’t want to go against it.

"That’s not the case, miss. It was my fault. I was looking at my phone. Please pardon me. I am Aditya, by the way," The man said as he extended his hand, intrigued by this new beauty he was seeing for the first time in University and she wasn’t a vampire.

Probably a human too. But as the council head’s son, why didn’t he know about a new admission to the University?

Or probably amidst so much work, he missed it? He shook his head and looked at the girl hopefully, making her sigh inwardly.

She wasn’t the rude kind and since the boy was acting so polite, she didn’t have any reason to run away or be angry at him for no reason.

"Elliana," Elliana said, shaking his hand, and making the man smile.

"Well, you are definitely-" Aditya couldn’t complete his sentence when he saw Alcinder coming along with Samantha, who was already glaring at him as if he was touching their possession.

" -one beautiful woman. Will see you later," Aditya said before leaving and Elliana shrugged her shoulders.
