Chapter 681: Be friends

Inside the laboratory, Elliana, who was experimenting, asked Daniel to give her one of the chemicals that she made after mixing some substances with titrated acid, looked at the test tube in surprise when it suddenly burst with a black smoke explosion that almost tainted her clothes and face with black soot.

She turned to look at Daniel, who looked at her apologetically.

"I thought you wanted the pure one," Daniel said, and Alcinder, who was helping others with performing basic experiments, chuckled at her face.

"Oh my moon goddess, just look at that. Please wipe your face before the principal comes here and watches you like this. We didn’t get permission for you to burn this entire laboratory," Alcinder joked while Elliana looked at Daniel with a glare.

"Hey, it’s my fault. Please forgive me. I will buy you extra good food to make up for it," Daniel said, already having recognized the girl’s weakness, she rolled her eyes and went to the sink before pulling out napkins to remove the stain from her face.

She didn’t want to use wet wipes just in case the chemicals in them reacted with the soot and irritated her skin more.

After wetting the napkins with plain distilled water, she was about to wipe her face when she heard the voice of one man she didn’t want to meet at the money for sure.

"Miss Elliana, can I talk to you?" King Sebastian walked inside the laboratory, his brows furrowing when he smelt the weird pungent smell.

Elliana didn’t turn around, not wanting the man to see her like this.

But Sebastian, who was desperate to get his answers, couldn’t wait for her to get decent either.

He walked to her and grabbed her hand before turning her around forcefully.

Seeing the condition of her face, he sighed.

Elliana, who thought he would be laughing, glared at the man, but to her surprise, rather than getting angry, he pulled out his handkerchief and wiped her face with a gentle touch as if he were touching an antique piece.

"Must you always get into trouble?" He asked, and Elliana felt more ashamed now.

She met him three times in total and got into trouble one way or another all the time. Obviously, he was bound to think like that.

"It’s better if you go to the infirmary just in case. We don’t want any reactions later," Sebastian said and Elliana was about to deny him when Alcinder nodded at her.

"I think King Sebastian is right, Elliana. This is not a time to show how brave you are and how you can handle everything. It’s better if you get your face checked," Alcinder added, making the girl nod in displeasure.

She didn’t really want to go.

With a sigh, she stepped out of the laboratory and started walking towards the infirmary, well aware of the fact that a particular king was following her.

"What is it?" She asked impatiently after some time.

Sebastian gazed at the girl. He tried to picture her as the woman in his head, the woman whose laugh had been engraved into his head like a distant memory.

Was it possible for him to call for a woman like her? He asked himself, looking at her from head to toe.

"I have a small favor to ask for. Can you do it for me?" Sebastian asked.

If Sebastian thought getting herself to do anything would be easy, he was definitely in for a surprise.

"Why should I? The last thing I want someone to call me is a clingy characterless woman because I helped someone or smiled at someone. I understand that you have mood swings, King Sebastian. Please save me the drama," Elliana said before she turned around and started to walk ahead.

Sebastian pressed his lips as he looked at the back of the leaving girl.

He didn’t think twice and stepped ahead to grab her hand.

The same spark. He felt the same spark he felt with her when their hands touched the first time and judging from how the girl froze, he knew she felt it too. The idea of Elliana being the same girl strengthened in his heart and his heart skipped a beat.

"I am sorry," Sebastian said.

To say Elliana was surprised would be an understatement.

She turned around and looked at the man who didn’t look like the kind to say sorry so quickly and couldn’t help but press her lips.

"How can I believe you? What if you are apologizing just for the sake of making me do what you want to do?" Elianna looked at him suspiciously.

Sebastian nodded his head.

He knew he hurt her and her words were valid indeed. As much as he was dying to hear her call him Mr. Marino to see if the voices matched or not, he shook his head.

"You don’t have to do it immediately. It’s okay," Sebastian said and Elliana hummed.

If he thought that being like this would make her stop and look at him with compassion and do what he wanted her to do, he was wrong.

"You asked for forgiveness, but it’s up to me whether to forgive you or not. Give me some time to think through it. I can’t trust you again so quickly after you called me characterless," Elliana said and went straight to the infirmary.

Lucas, who finally found his boss after some time, looked at his weird expression and didn’t know how to approach him.

His King was seriously acting like a girl on her period. So fucking unpredictable and full of mood swings, weird enough to make anyone crazy.

He kept standing there, waiting for his boss to address him, but he didn’t do that. Rather than that, he saw Sebastian walk towards the infirmary.

He waited for the girl to get her checkup done.

Elianna, who was about to exit the room, saw him standing at the side and narrowed her brows.

What did he want from her now?

"Shall we start again? Can we be friends?" Sebastian asked, feeling the growing need to be around her, a little bit hopeless but he would be able to get to know more about it only when he would stay with her.

Sebastian nodded his head at his plans.
