The Masked Vampire King's Accidental Bride-Chapter 689: Ari’s birthday
Chapter 689: Ari’s birthday
Elliana forgot Sebastian was following her or her parents were with her as she enjoyed the view of the beautiful place.
She liked coming to this one place because of this one fact.
The ice castle was beautiful. It wasn’t exactly cold, and the glittering, gorgeous chandeliers made it worth looking at.
While the aesthetics of their palace weren’t any less, it was still situated on a mountain and had more dark vibes.
"Elliana, you came," Arizona walked ahead with a big smile on her face.
She held Elliana’s hand to thank her for coming, but feeling someone’s cold gaze on her, she looked at Azura and knew that her sister didn’t like her proximity to her daughter.
"Azura," Arizona said, stopping as her gaW met with King Eros.
It was awkward, no lies. If it had been in his hands, he wouldn’t want to see the face of this one woman who cheated him terribly and made his life a living hell, but he didn’t want to be unfair to Ari, who wasn’t at fault and because Elliana wanted it that he was left with no choice but to appear in places where she was.
Arizona knew greeting King Eros would only bring trouble her way, so she gulped before looking at Nathaniel, another person who hated her terribly for what she did and had lied to him his entire life.
Sebastian had stopped a little away from the group to attend a call from his man, who wanted to share news about the rogue wolves they had been encountering these days.
As he walked ahead, his gaze meeting Arizona, he couldn’t help but notice how her gaze widened. She looked at the rest of the family in shock before her gaze settled on Elliana.
"S-Sebastian," She stuttered, unsure of what was going on.
Before she could make a mistake and slip something that would affect Elliana, Nathaniel told her Sebastian arrived as Elliana’s friend because he had invited him.
Arizona nodded before she turned around and led everyone inside the hall.
"Please take your seats. We will begin the function shortly," Arizona, who wanted to celebrate her daughter’s birthday grandly, said.
Elliana looked around and noticed how beautifully it was decorated.
She stood from her place to roam the area a little.
"Where are you going?" Sebastian immediately held her hand, and everyone’s gaze shot to his hand.
Sebastian could feel everyone’s gaze on him, but he did not care or fear anyone or anything.
He kept his focus on Elliana, who shrugged at him in reply.
"I just want to see a few things here and there. Why?" She asked.
Sebastian licked his bottom lip as he looked at her enchanting beauty.
"You are the only one who I actually know here. Don’t you think it would be rude of you to leave me alone?" Sebastian asked, and Elliana understood what he was talking about.
She gave up on the idea and sat in the front row of seats as every seat had their names. Sebastian was assigned a seat right beside Elliana for his convenience.
Azrael, who hadn’t arrived along with Rebecca and Luscious, finally showed up one by one.
Arizona, who hadn’t invited Azrael, immediately scowled when she returned and felt her presence.
"Who invited you?" Arizona stood, her dominance immediately rising, making the white witches wary of their queen’s anger.
"I came because I wanted to," Azrael said, smirking at her elder sister’s expression.
Arizona gritted her teeth. How could he forget about everything that Azrael said? Azura and their mother might have forgiven her because of Elliana, but she couldn’t bring herself to do the same.
She was the one because of whom she chose the wrong path in the first place.
"Get out at once. Your presence is not needed here," Arizona said at once.
Azura furrowed her brows and looked at her daughter, who was busy talking to Sebastian.
She needed to calm her elder sisters, who were acting like children, if she wanted to prevent her daughter from becoming angry.
Why? Because though she didn’t have any knowledge of her powers or the ability to control them, calamities happened whenever she got angry in the past. It was almost as if the moon goddess acted on her behalf until she became unaware of her powers.
"Can you both please calm down? We all agreed to keep our past behind and live together as a family. We rarely see each other. Let’s not forget why we have gathered and -" Azura started, but Arizona, who couldn’t stand the sight of Azrael, immediately glared at Azura.
"You stay out of it, Azura. You can forgive her, but I can’t," Arizona said.
Their mom, Rebecca, who was waiting for them to calm themselves, furrowed her brows and clenched her fists, making the two sisters feel the pain in their hearts.
"Don’t cause a stir here and make my granddaughter angry. You can take this out of here once the event is over and she is gone," Rebecca gritted her teeth.
King Eros’ father, Luscious, who didn’t want to come in the first place and came all because Nathaniel informed him that Elliana was starting to see her glow back, rolled his eyes.
As one of the almighty Saint witches who has gotten a much higher appraisal position from the moon goddess, getting into such a useless fight was like disrespect to his dignity and powers, and he just walked around, walking to where his granddaughter was sitting with the vampire king.
"So you only live in the dark witch kingdom? And what about the University? Does that have both kinds of witches, or are the universities divided too?" Sebastian asked Elliana.
"Well, the universities are divided, but there is one common university too. Only the elite students who are able to bear and handle the anger of other witches and are not sensitive are sent there after being tested mentally," Elliana explained.
"Mom, why are you doing this? Must she stay here? It’s just a matter of an event," Arizona said, hating Azrael even more as the woman looked back at her with a smug expression.
Elliana, who finally heard Arizona’s raised voice, turned to the entrance at some distance and saw her aunt standing to face off, her gaze darkened.
She stood from her place.
"Where are you-?" Sebastian wanted to ask her, but seeing her dark eyes that turned pure violet as she walked back to where they had come from, he stopped himself, tilting his body to see what was happening.
"What’s going on?" Sebastian asked Nathaniel, who looked at the scene before rolling his eyes.
"Just family things. They can’t go ahead without causing drama. I don’t understand the meaning of even trying when they know Elliana won’t let anyone feel left out," Nathaniel said.
Sebastian looked at the Dark Witch prince, who should’ve been the one to go and sort out the fight but was sitting so laid back.
"Just enjoy the view while you are at it. I am used to this," Nathaniel said instead as he pulled out his tab to read the report of the witch clans and their replies as sent by Pluto.
Sebastian looked at Elliana, who just walked to where everyone was standing.
"What’s happening here?" Elliana asked.
Azura looked at her daughter and shrugged before walking back to her seat.
Luscious, who was about to walk to Elliana but saw her walking to the group, instead shifted his chair behind Elliana’s to feel her aura and see what else was needed to awaken her consciousness about her powers.
Arizona looked at Elliana, whose eyes were already violet, which meant she wasn’t playing or going to be lenient.
"I don’t want her to stay here," Arizona said.
Elliana nodded her head.
"Okay. And then what?" Elliana asked.
Arizona was out to defend and give more reasons why Azrael shouldn’t be allowed when Elliana stepped ahead and looked her dead in the eyes.
"If we were allowed to be so wistful about what we want, you wouldn’t see us here, would you?" She asked.
Arizona immediately looked down at her feet.
She knew that if Elliana walked out of the event, the entire family would walk out, too. And her daughter really wanted to see her father on her birthday.
She looked at the girl before her helplessly.
"Must you force this upon me?" Arizona said, not liking how a little girl she raised had so much power against her.
Her ego was getting affected, and Elliana didn’t say anything.
"Go take a seat," she said to Azrael, who hadn’t moved.
"Didn’t you hear me? Go take a seat," Elliana said again, and Azrael cleared her throat before leaving without any doubt.
As soon as Azrael left, Elliana took a deep breath.
"Look, I don’t know what happened in the past, but from what I can see, the person who should be most angry here isn’t you. And that person is here just because of your daughter’s happiness. Can’t you bear with it?" Elliana asked in a much gentler tone.
Arizona looked at her daughter’s smiling face on the poster before her and clenched her jaws.
She nodded before taking a deep breath and walking to the seats as the dancers started to arrive.
Followed by those dancers getting the main person this event belonged to.
Ari walked inside the hall with a big smile on her face, and as soon as she saw her father sitting in one of the seats, her eyes brimmed with tears before she looked at Elliana, who was the reason behind it.
"Thank you," Ari said as soon as she passed her.
Elliana looked at Ari. There was no smile on her face. She didn’t know why it was so hard to fake her smile in front of this particular girl. She must’ve hated her presence back before losing her memories that even her body had adapted to it.
She just nodded at Ari and walked back to her seat.
