Chapter 697: The kiss of the lover

Misha looked at Elliana’s situation, and her heart skipped a beat.

Nathaniel was the first to react as he saw her motionless body on the ground, still in the shield.

She was lying in the pool of her blood while Azura was still beating the shield helplessly, wanting to find just one way to get close to her daughter.

No. What happened to her? Why was she lying with her eyes closed? Why wasn’t she moving? Nathaniel dropped the things he was holding to bring to his sister to help her with the pain as he rushed to the shield.

"Elliana. Elliana. What’s wrong, baby? Talk to me. You know you can tell me everything, and I will ease your pain. You trust me, don’t you? Open your eyes and tell me what the matter is. Is the pain unbearable?" Nathaniel tried to ask her.

"Dad," Nathaniel looked at his father, who was sitting near the shield with an expressionless face. It was as if there was no life in his eyes, and the thought of why his father and stepmother were acting like this scared him.

He looked around at everyone’s faces, full of remorse and pain.

"Why would you act like this? Don’t you know the more you try to break free the shield, the more it will strengthen itself?" Misha asked.

Azura, who had been trying so hard to break free of the shield, immediately distanced herself from it, looking at it in shock.

Was she the reason her daughter was being like this? She looked at her bleeding hands with hatred.

Seeing Azura hating herself even more, Azreal stepped ahead to comfort her. Even though she knew she was the last person who should’ve stepped ahead to talk to her sister, she wanted to be there for her. That was what Elliana wanted: for the family to stick together.

"Don’t blame yourself, sister. We all did what we could. As another, you just wanted to help your daughter. Who would’ve known there was something like that?" Azrael said, and Azura leaned into Azrael’s embrace, wailing pitifully.

King Eros didn’t talk to anyone or utter a word. He just stepped ahead and sat by the shield, wanting to stay close to his daughter. He was ready to help Misha with whatever she needed to ensure his daughter would be alright.

Misha shook her head and sighed.

She used her siren voice to allow herself through the shield and remove it since she had actually performed the ritual.

It wasn’t long before the shield disappeared, and everyone could clearly see Elliana’s wretched condition.

Azura wanted to go to her daughter immediately. She wanted Misha to hold her hand and try to make her open her eyes, but Misha shook her head at the former dark witch queen, making Azrael hold Azura’s hand to stop her from moving.

"Let her do what she wants. Once she is alright, you will have plenty of time to spend with your daughter," Azrael said.

She shifted her gaze to her mother, who was standing at some distance like a doll. Seeing the lady standing motionless and not helping her daughter or trying to comfort her, Azrael couldn’t help but feel sour again.

As a mother, did she ever have an ounce of emotion for them?

Her daughter was practically losing her mind because her granddaughter was in pain, and she was standing like nothing was wrong. She shook her head in disappointment, completely unaware of how badly Rebecca wanted to hold Azura’s hand and tell her everything would be right. Her heart ached to do it. But after staying away from her family for so long, she didn’t know if she had that kind of right anymore.

"Is there nothing we can do?" Luscious was the one to speak up as everyone battled their emotions, losing the capacity to think straight while looking at the blood-drenched condition of Elliana.

Misha, who had been inspecting Elliana’s nerves and could feel her barely hanging onto thin threads, gulped.

"I... She is barely alive. The only person who can do something to save her now is -" Misha couldn’t even complete her sentence when they felt someone’s presence.

Under normal circumstances, Arizona would’ve blocked the entrance of whoever it was and canceled their teleportation to the royal palace, but when she felt there were vampires, she didn’t.

Arizona furrowed her brows when she saw Sebastian and Ella standing there with the witch Sally, who had been a frequent visitor to the palace.

Hadn’t Nathaniel dropped the king back to his palace? Why was he back? ƒreewebηoveℓ.com

Everyone watched in surprise as they looked at Sebastian, whose clothes were drenched with blood, too, his condition not looking too good.

"I am sorry. I accidentally slipped some information on him because I was excited to learn he had come to the witch kingdom with Elliana. There is no excuse for it. I just thought he remembered everything and asked him about it," Ella signed the words, and the witches who could read her lips sighed.

These accidents weren’t that pretty for the kids, were they?

As soon as Sebastian’s gaze landed on Elliana, his heart felt like it had stopped for a few seconds.

His eyes brimmed with tears, and his beast roared in pain.

"Elliana!" Sebastian rushed to the woman on the ground, barely controlling his emotions.

He didn’t care if anyone was looking at him anymore or if he looked pitiful. He just wanted to see her smiling at him.

"I am sorry, Elliana. Please forgive me. I am sorry for being such an incompetent husband. I don’t remember anything. No matter how hard I try, I can’t remember things, and I have never hated myself more than I do today. I beg you to forgive me. Please open your eyes," Sebastian held her hand and pulled her in his lap, her blood staining his clothes, the thick scent making him feel like deja vu, and he hated it.

He didn’t want to get this deja vu feeling. He tried to remember everything clearly.

A rogue tear slipped from his eyes as he held her close to his heart.

"Open your eyes, please. Didn’t you used to say you would stay with me forever? How can you leave me not once but twice? You shall be punished for it. I won’t forgive you if you don’t open your eyes. Please don’t punish me like this," Sebastian groveled.

Ella sighed as she looked at her brother. How pitiful he looked. He couldn’t remember anything correctly, but his heart was probing him to say these words. His heart felt what he couldn’t, and the dilemma was wrenching enough.

Misha looked at the man, who seemed to be trying his best to remember everything and sighed.

"There is indeed a way. One last way. If this doesn’t work, Elliana will be gone forever," Misha said.

Azura and Sebastian immediately looked at her with hope.

"The kiss of the lover," Misha said, her words confusing Sebastian.

"What do you mean?" His eyes were enraged at the thought of someone kissing his wife.

"Has Elliana never asked you to kiss her under the moonlight?" Misha asked before sighing.

What was the use of asking him when he didn’t remember anything? It was foolish of her –

She couldn’t even complete her thought when Sebastian nodded his head.

"She did," Sebastian said, his words surprising everyone. Was his memory coming back?

Misha was surprised, too. She felt Elliana’s nerves again, which was the same as before.

A ray of hope ignited in her heart.

"Your kiss, Sebastian. Your love will decide whether the moon goddess will let her live," Misha said.

"What if we don’t try it?" Azura asked, not wanting to take such a hefty risk, and Misha sighed.

"She will stay in a vegetative state for the rest of her life until her lifeline," Misha said.

Azura looked at her daughter. She wanted to be the selfish mother and ask Misha not to do it. Because at the end of the day, her daughter would be alive. But would it be of any use? Though her daughter wouldn’t be in pain, what about her should and powers who would be helpless for the rest of their lives?

If Elliana had been given this chance, she would’ve instead chosen instant death than this vegetative life.

Azura was about to permit Sebastian to do it when she saw Sebastian entangle his hand in Elliana’s hair. Without waiting for anyone’s instructions, he smacked his lips on Elliana’s.
