Chapter 462 - Back to Elmo

Jonas sighed. Elin wasn't sure what was going though his head at the moment, but she hoped that he would explain it to her in a way that would allow her to understand what Elmo had tried to tell her. Even though she had her doubts that she'd ever be able to understand his explanation.

"Where would you like me to start?" Jonas asked, sounding as tired as she often felt when she would curl up next to Kim before going to sleep.

Elin hesitated. Before this point she could have pretended that everything would be fine once she got the explanation that she could understand. While she thought that explanation should come from Jonas, since she knew he'd be willing and she didn't want to get Kim's hopes up about the matter, it was still something that hadn't happen yet.

However, now she was on the edge of that. If it worked then it'd come true, but she had to acknowledge the possibility that she still wouldn't be able to understand what was said. That it'd still be beyond her abilities to know. It was that possibility that worried her and caused her to balk at moving forward.

Yet, at the same time, she knew that if she didn't move forward at this point, that she might as well give up on it altogether. As se wouldn't understand it if she at least didn't try to run the risk of not being able to understand something simpler than what Elmo had explained to her.

"Well, Elmo explained that essentially I had to find a way to fertilize the egg with the essence of another person and that if I wanted another female to fertilize my egg, that I'd probably do better to use one of their eggs because of the chromosomes or something, but that if I couldn't do that for any reason, that I should try to get something that has the most amount of their DNA in it, even if I had to use some from multiple points," Elin said, a little surprised at how much of a rush it all came out in. Almost like it had been a flood of water straining at what had held it back.

Jonas blinked before chuckling for a moment. "Okay, let's start with some basics," he said, before launching into an explanation about her body that Elin felt was so alien, yet so logical that she couldn't help but accept it as truth.

Even though she felt like some of the parts of the explanation, like her having eggs inside of her, were a little too much to really believe. Yet, Jonas spoke with so much conviction about the subject that she couldn't find it in her to doubt that he at least believed that to be true.

The only thing that Elin couldn't help but wonder about in the explanation was if they were close enough to each other, given the fact that they came from separate worlds, to even have the same kind of biology as each other. Yet, since she didn't have any evidence otherwise, she had to assume that what Jonas was explaining to her could very well also apply to her, despite her own unease about the subject.

The explanation didn't take long, but it did give Elin more questions as she got answers to previous questions. Like, "How am I supposed to get an egg from Kim or give her one of mine if they don't leave the body until they're... uh, flushed out?"

Jonas merely shrugged. "That might be something for Elmo to answer. When he explained it before, you didn't know to ask, so that might be something the book would have covered."

Elin nodded, accepting that Jonas wouldn't have a clue since he wasn't the one who had looked at the book. Even though she couldn't help but feel annoyed that she'd have to bounce back to asking Elmo about the subject. Especially since she'd used the 'collecting firewood' excuse to get him alone so she could ask him about that book and she doubted that it'd work so well a second time.

"Anyway, if there's anything more, feel free to ask me about it la-" Jonas said, but Elin interrupted him with her next question.

"If I can't use her egg, what do you think I should try to work with?" she asked, vaguely aware that Jonas was trying to put the questions off until later.

Jonas shook his head, looking like he was partially annoyed, but helpless at the same time. "Maybe some of her blood, her saliva, or just anything of hers that has DNA. Though, I'm not sure what you'd do after you got her DNA. So, again, you'd have to go back to Elmo about that."

Elin sighed. While she had more questions for Jonas, she had a feeling that he probably wouldn't be able to explain any of her other questions. Meaning that she'd have to go back to Elmo, who might not be as keen to answer them like he was the day before.

Although, she supposed that it might also have been partially because of the fact that his arms were carrying a lot of firewood. Firewood that she'd just kept piling on his arms, regardless of what she herself was carrying at any particular moment.

"Well, sorry to bother you about that," Elin said, wishing that he'd been able to help her out more. That maybe he'd have been able to have taken a look at that book as well and understood what was written in it. So he could answer her questions here, rather than making her go back to Elmo and ask him again.

Plus, while she wanted to wake him up right then as Jonas settled back down, she felt she couldn't since he'd been on the watch before hors. Which meant that he was already short on sleep compared to Jonas, so if she asked him now, he could have other problems through the day from being so tired.

Grudgingly, Elin put it off, though she planned on puling Elmo to the side at the earliest opportunity, even if she had to talk with him while they walked during the day. As that seemed like it'd be the best opportunity, even though most of the time they had minimal conversation during those times, outside of if they needed to take another path due to one reason or another that was apparent at that particular moment.

Even as others started getting up and getting breakfast ready, Elin waited and bided her time. Even as the morning announcement popped up without warning, like usual, Elin kept her peace and didn't say anything to Elmo.

She pretended like she didn't see the questioning looks that Kim sent her way, that nothing she was doing was out of the ordinary, even though she knew she tended to be more talkative and active than she was being right then.

Until, finally they were starting out. Moving at a pace that Elin hoped would mean that they'd reach the village before they were doing walking for the day. Which was entirely possible, since she couldn't be sure how much distance was really between the capital and that village, not to mention how much distance they'd covered in that time period.

As they started walking, Elin tugged on Elmo's sleeve, hoping the unspoken request would be picked up on by that act alone. Elmo looked at Elin with a question in his eyes, clearly wondering what she wanted now and Elin motioned towards the back of the group with her head, hoping that she'd be able to get time to talk with Elmo without any of the others being able to listen in.

When Elin was confident that they weren't likely to be overheard, she asked, "I was wondering how am I supposed to get either Kim's egg in me or my egg in Kim before they get flushed out?"

Elmo blinked, looking like he was caught off guard. Which Elin supposed was fair since she didn't lead up to the question, but rather blurted it right out with Elmo not knowing what she'd wanted to talk about.

"Uh, the book didn't really go into detail about that," Elmo said tentatively, as if he was afraid of Elin's reaction. "All it indicated for using magic to have a child with another person was that you needed something as close as possible to what your body produces to reproduce to achieve that." Elmo paused for a moment before adding, "If there was a Chapter that discusses that point, I didn't have time to look for it." freeweɓnovel.cøm

Elin sighed, not happy with that response, but she could understand why it might not be as easily located in that book. She herself was having trouble making out what was needed, but at the same time, she wasn't sure if the book explained it at all.

However, another thought came to Elin. One that might be a solution to that very problem that Elmo didn't have an answer for. "Uh, did the book mention a spell or something that would allow for me to get pregnant from Kim? I mean, to fertilize my... egg?"

While she understood that what Jonas had explained to her was likely what Elmo understood, Elin was still having trouble accepting that.

Elmo shook his head. "No, it just made it clear that it was supposed to be accomplished by either sheer magic power, or using our MP. I'm not sure if it'd be a continual drain on it or if it'd be merely an initial cost, but that's what the book indicated on that part."
