To His Hell and Back-Chapter 118: Longing Heart
Chapter 118: Longing Heart
Puzzling the informations Cassius gave her. She began to understood that the humans were also planning to return all the things that they had suffered under the oppressive nature of the sudden rule that was taken by the vampires. When she rolled the curtain she could see the humans who seemed displeased, as if knowing that their luxurious carriage belongs to the vampire.
"It was a matter of time," Cassius muttered, "The humans wanted to fight for their freedom and safety but the King would never allow it to happen."
"But if this continues," Bella held her breaths and recalled what had happened to them in Gordes Town. She could still remember the humans’ anger and their hatred against vampires. So much so that they would even kill the humans who they considered have "sided" with the vampires. Their anger had rooted deep inside their heart, viewing vampires as monsters.
Now with the help of those sorcerers, they weren’t scared anymore. They believe that it would be easy for them to take on the vampires in a fight as they have acquired a potion capable of rendering the vampires into mindless creatures that would work under them.
She shuddered, thinking about the chaos and the blood that would ensued and asked him, "Isn’t there a way to rectify this?"
"There is," Cassius was quiet and his eyes that stared at the humans weren’t similar to how Queen Morgana had looked down on humans. He added with a faint smirk as he closed the curtain by removing her hands, "But the King won’t agree with it."
’The King," she muttered. True that was where the problem lies. Not at Cassius nor was it on the humans. Even if Cassius had came up with laws that lessen the humans’s oppressed rights, the King wouldn’t condone giving the humans too much freedom, as he sees the human as nothing but his pawn or perhaps even worse, his livestock. If only the King wasn’t... Bella gasp at her own thoughts and turn back to Cassius who chuckled.
"I agree with you," he said as if knowing what she was thinking then as the building called "Goddess’ Mercy" approached, Cassius spoke, "But be careful, birdie. Other than those sorcerers there are still creatures such as skin walker who you need to be careful. They tend to take someone else’s appearance, someone you are familiar with the most."
Arabella furrowed her eyebrows. What kind of creatures was that and why would they steal someone else’s appearance? To trap their prey?
"How do I differentiate them?" She asked and he hummed, flicking his finger to the glass window.
"See its reflection. Unlike our eyes that they could fool, they can’t fool their own reflection." He saw how she had sunken in her thoughts, clearly worried but he pushed his hand forward and tucked her hair behind her ears. She could see his grin widened and his words that trembled the air around his lips, "Don’t worry about anything else. You should be happy now and put on a smile. Isn’t this the time where you’re going to see your sister?"
Arabella turned her green eyes toward the building beside them. The bubble of nervousness and excitement rings in her heart, causing her heart to beat slowly but then deeply as eagerness of this day was something she had awaited in sleepless night.
She slowly walked down the carriage, nervously wringing her hands together. Her fear mixed with excitement was a fresh emotion that she couldn’t name. She watched the place, eyes brimming with worry at one hand and gratitude she was going to see Ariel again.
Right as she was about to enter, a lady in the purple gown stepped forward. The black fur shawl crossed her shoulders and a pipe for her to smoke was in her left hand, swung slowly between her fingers, "What? Do you want to apply working in my shop? You do have the look for it, what’s the name?"
"She’s with me," Cassius spoke from behind and Madam Ursula who looked at him immediately shivered. His gaze and the air he brought was intense, enough to make her bend down and look at the ground as seeing his eyes were simply far too frightening.
Madam Ursula who had lived in the red light district ever since she was born knew how to see through men. Whether it’s their lies or their true identity. It was why she could survive for so long, knowing which men would invest to her the most and what men who would only lie and sing promises that could never be bothered to fulfill. She was even more aware of those cruel hearted men, those dangerous and those particularly should be avoided at all costs.
For her, Cassius had radiated the same energy. His face was so striking so much so that he could have stolen her customers despite being a male. His aura dominates those around him, as if it was the world’s rule for them to bow down towards him. She could also tell he’s wealthy but that wasn’t why she feared him. It was the fact that no one could ever resist his charm, even the course of nature.
"W- What may I help you with, young lord?" Ursula stammered. The fearlessness she had always commanded under her hands were now slipping as if she had returned to twenty years ago. She couldn’t gather herself together or pick back her composure and while others around her were admiring his features and that handsome face, she was the only one to understood the magnitude of his prowess.
"Ariel," Cassius said as he looked at Arabella, "I want to reunite the sisters together so bring her to me now."
"A- Ariel?" Pursing her lips, Madam Ursula didn’t know how to speak so that she wouldn’t have offended Cassius. She wrung her hands, her beautiful face marred with age was now marred further with wrinkles of fears. "S- She is currently having tea with a customer but she should be available soon."
"Chase him out," Cassius demanded and Madam Ursula stared at him, blinking. Even Arabella knew what was coming next as he pointed to the door, smiling so sweetly when his words smelled like blood, "Chase that bastard out and make her available or should I simply rip apart this building? Which do you prefer?"
