To His Hell and Back-Chapter 168: The Odd One Out-II
Chapter 168: The Odd One Out-II
Perhaps because it’s been so many days since she was asleep. There has always been a saying not to eat when you’re hungry as everything inside your mouth would just taste divine so you could be full. And this was even more true as Arabella found the bread and butter dipped in the milky stew was just so delicious that she could cry tears of joy from it.
But while eating she recalled her conversation with Malvo and about the princesses. At some point she wondered why she didn’t feel so energized after hearing what Malvo had to say. She also questioned why Cassius didn’t tell any of this to her but who was she to him that she would even dare to ask such a question?
She’s nothing to him that’s for certain... there is no reason for him to go ahead and explain everything he does especially when he has done it with the throne in mind.
Right besides what was she worried about? Worried that Cassius would suddenly be bored with her? Then shouldn’t she be grateful? Besides if he’s bored he will toss her aside but excusing their bond that had grown closer, he wouldn’t kill her right?
No one would want a husband with such a human pet, specially a female one. So the future wife of Cassius would even order her to be kicked out and once that order was made, Arabella think about how she would leave... and she would leave willingly.
Should she ask for his mercy and ask him for help to find Ariel? Or maybe that would be too much...
Arabella sighed and then looked at her food, "Sorry I didn’t mean to sigh at you guys," she whispered to the bread before stuffing another piece into her mouth. Then a twinge of pain on her neck caused for her fingers to crawl upward. She could feel the two prick wound on her neck, recalling everything that had happened between her and Cassius almost in a blink that her entire face turned beet red.
They were far too close last night... was that normal?
Arabella had spent all her time in the village trying to survive so she didn’t know what was normal shared between a man and a woman. She didn’t know if last night was far too intimate for their relationship; and what kind of emotion that she had really felt last night or why she had felt itchy in her heart upon seeing those beautiful princesses who would soon be married to Cassius.
The poor girl doesn’t know what love is and always believe that she was incapable of doing so or even feeling such deep love that perhaps her mother and father had once shared in the long past. She had seen many people being married and though she could be said the belle of the village, no man was ever brave enough to court her, at least not so openly due to her family’s history and the hatred her mother had garnered in the village.
She could tell it wasn’t something Cassius would do to anyone and neither would she. Last night felt so fragile that she wondered if it was something out of a dream and wondered again if this would begin to change their relationship or affect it at some kind of way.
"And what is that, Sir Lucien?"
A voice that was so demure and lovely entered her ears. Arabella who had finished her last piece of bread was staring at the soup filled with meat. Her habit was to leave the dishes she liked last to be eaten so she could savor the taste for long. Thus for someone like her who particularly likes meat, she had kept the soup purposely fuller with meat to be enjoyed last. She was about to finish the rest when she heard the voice and looked upward, lifting her face, to find a woman holding to Lucien’s arms as they went to the stable.
Uh oh...
Arabella didn’t know why Lucien was here but she knew that Adele was punished because of her... she had heard how her fangs were pulled out by Cassius and it was akin to a disgrace that would ruin her future prospects. Lucien being Adele’s older brother would of course feel a certain grudge towards her.
Sure enough Arabella confirmed it as Lucien’s wide spread smile turn into a scowl when their eyes met.
He looked at the tray of food she had held tight on her laps and scoffed, mocking her for eating here. freēwēbηovel.c૦m
"Don’t know," Lucien answered the foreign lady who had been escorted by him. The lady had more people with her, mostly all females too with beautiful dresses and a rather light red eyes, confirming how they were perhaps once human turned to a vampire.
"Don’t know?" The lady repeated before turning to Arabella and then frowning, "I don’t think the maids all wore a dress like her."
"She doesn’t look like a maid indeed."
"But who else could step in the Crown Prince’s stable without receiving his permission?"
"Wait I heard of it, isn’t that the dress worn by mostly the human slave in the castle, Sir Lucien? Although that dress does seem to look even fancier than their usual one... the style is similar."
Arabella gulped. Lucien knew who she is. There was no way he doesn’t. He must have brushed her identity aside out of annoyance but the ladies were really unaware of who she is and was starting to make their own guesses. Besides... this is Cassius’s stable? No one else was allowed here without his permission? Then why hadn’t anyone stopped her from entering?
Now that she think about it, the side of the wing she had been walking all around all belong to Cassius which means the library she saw belongs to him, the gallery, and even now the stable that was so wide and was just an empty wide land of green.
"Speak, who are you?" The lady hugging Lucien’s arms spoke out. Her name is Juanita, a lady dressed in the red and black dress with locks of green hair. Unaware of who Arabella really was, the lady began to make her own assumption, "There is no way but to think that maybe she is a pet that had ran? I heard they are all kept in the dungeon. Did she manage to slip out?"
"That’s possible," Lucien smirked. "Don’t know how that could happen but even that food... did you steal from the dining hall because of hunger mutt?"
