Chapter 169: Unknown Power-I

It was one thing to lie and another to accuse but Lucien had done both. He didn’t care what these ladies would do to Arabella and though as Adele’s brother one would think that he had done this out of spite as Arabella’s presence had caused his beloved younger sister some pain, his reason for not clearing who she was to the foreign lady wasn’t anything as noble. The only reason why he had done this was because it was fun.

He still remembered a few days ago when his mother had warned him to not get an inch closer to Arabella. She had decided to warn them that though Arabella’s presence around him was something that they couldn’t come to terms with, outright trying to harm her was akin to ending their familial bond to Cassius. And Cassius who had rarely threw a tantrum was forgiven as he would soon become the king.

Lucien accepted that idea. He also didn’t want to be defanged by Cassius, or worse killed. But Lucien likes things and situations that would make him excited. Such as now; if he could see the women in this stable turning against Arabella and the latter was harmed, the problem wouldn’t be on him but these ladies. At the same time he could enjoy the fun in watching the human girl get harmed.

Arabella’s pain could become a catalyst to Cassius’s anger. That foolish cousin of him didn’t hide this at all and how extremely stupid that is... because things that could elicit any emotion from Cassius fascinate so many people around him, especially him. It didn’t matter if it was anger or hatred, if sadness it would be even better. How is this not fun?

He looked to the ladies and hummed, "It seems that I would have to call the guards to make sure that this little pet isn’t the one who had ran away. Would you ladies mind staying and keeping an eye on her?"

"Of course Sir Lucien!" The eager Juanita said with a wicked smile before turning to Arabella.

Arabella could see Lucien’s eyes that glimmered and he spoke, "Pets like this lies a lot, if only they don’t have a tongue I would be extremely delighted. I could even bring your name for His Highness to hear," he lightly placed his hand under the lady’s chin and lift it up while the Juanita’ eyes glimmered bright as she understood what the order implied under his words.

He then turned to Arabella and bent his knees. His expression first showed pity but when he had leaned closer, his smile spread high.

Seeing that Arabella gripped her spoon tight, ready to stab his eyes but the man had instead whispered, "Do you know stupid pet," he sighed dramatically. "Cassius is the heir to the throne but tomorrow he might not and might even lose all the trust the entire kingdom ever placed on him. Once that happens what do you think would happen to his poor future? These ladies are not princesses but they sure do have a family with a notable background and history from their own lands and if they were harmed the slightest, mhm, if even so much as a strand of their hair come loose from their pretty heads. Cassius would have to take the blame for you."

Arabella’s breaths tremble. Her green eyes slowly moved to Lucien, turning into a hateful glare as she wanted to really stab this vampire’s head if not for the fact that he is related to Cassius. She saw his wide grin as he stood back up, dusting his knees as he turned away, leaving her with the ladies who aren’t aware of who she is.

What should she do now?

Talk? Can she talk to these people at all? Was it going to enter their ears even the slightest?

"I- I am the Crow-"

"Be quiet! Who told you to speak, pet?" Juanita snapped, crossing her arms in anger. "I know you little things tend to lie so who would ever believe the words you say? Open your mouth once again and I’ll make sure you’re quiet forever."

Well talking doesn’t work...

Regardless she didn’t want to stop here, "His Highness Cassius is someone who takes care of me. Pet in this castle aren’t allowed to be touched by anyone else."

"Hahahahahaha, you? The crown prince’s pet? Then why is it that Sir Lucien doesn’t know who you are?"

Arabella pursed her lips, "Because he’s lying." She knew how that would sound as she could see Juanita’s eyes widening and the curls on her lips turn into one of a loud scoff.

"And he would lie about someone like you? For what?" Juanita said with a frown. Clearly everything Arabella had explained would fall to a deaf ear. Lucien is someone of a high standing and unlike her, his words was much more believable than a word of a pet, a lower stature.

Juanita wasn’t someone who would have done this if not for Lucien. She had believed what Lucien had said as she was a foreign lady and would know less about the gossips and rumors that covered the castle ground. She knows nothing about her either and would have stepped away if she knew. At least this was what Arabella had told herself.

But this situation is still dangerous. She doesn’t know how violent Juanita is but she knows how volatile the person named Cassius Crown could be. If in the past she would have had no confident he would protect her, now she does. And after hearing Lucien’s words, she became even more aware of how her presence could become a catalyst that would destroy Cassius’s future.

Arabella became even more wary.

She doesn’t care about authority or to become the King but Cassius does. He had sacrificed a lot for his position but all that destroy because of her?

Arabella didn’t think she was worth so much. She never thought she was worth as much as a copper coin much less the right to the throne.

Then what should she do?

If she yells, someone will come and report the situation to Cassius. He would then appear and hurt the ladies. His right to the throne then damaged, and the guilt she had to shoulder would be far too heavy for her to carry.

But if she remains quiet...

"See you have no answers. Lying has a limit as well, specially a stupid thing like you. Well then for daring to step into the Crown Prince’s garden. For also daring to harm his reputation by spouting lies. And for daring to talk back to a higher rank, you have a lot of punishment to face."

Arabella saw as the glistening red painted nail of Juanita was raised. She was told to "make" her quiet so that would mean the lady’s aim was toward her mouth, or even worse her tongue.

Just as she had thought so, Juanita smiled, her red eyes gleaming, "But I am kind so I’ll forgive you. How about this? Now you will open your mouth and rip out your tongue by yourself. Then I shall think of this as over, hm?"
