Chapter 72 - 144 (3)
Swinging the blood rendering sword, Incus dodged out of the way with a static of lightning.
She was still using the ’True eye of the Truthseeker’.
"How peculiar, you shouldn’t have been able to dodge that... heroes really are a different breed entirely." Deinae continued to slash but her movements were slow, and the blood from the blood rendering sword was splattering everywhere on the floor.
"Stay away from the blood—!" The beauty was then silenced as the illuminating chains wrapped around her mouth, gagging her.
Incus then exploded the lightning around her, making the blood disappear.
Me and everyone else jumped up so that we wouldn’t get electrocuted.
"What a shame." Demoness Deinae then turned around and clenched her fist, making the chains tighten, "Don’t get in the way and ruin the fun."
Turning back at Incus, Demoness Deinae sighed.
"It would be such a shame to battle in a beautiful place like this, let’s move to a different spot." Pulling the beautiful woman, Deinae made her chant a spell.
"Pure water, my the sea split to my will." The large man made waterfall behind the throne split, opening a pathway which lead downwards.
Walking down the set of stairs, I touched the fountain, it felt rich for some reason.
"It looks like that the water has been imbued with mana." Vertere scooped a handful, and assessed it, "The mana imbued has a high purity, who ever did this must’ve been a great mage otherwise this would have been the work done by multiple mages."
"The battles so far hasn’t been too harsh on us, Captain." Lieur commented.
"Indeed, but that doesn’t mean we should lower our guards. A single mistake can lead to any of our deaths." After my remark, the room grew quiet. The only sound that made noise was the tapping footsteps as we descended the stairs.
Soon, a blue reflection of water became visible.
Reaching the bottom, we were standing on a wide man made lagoon.
It was strangely beautiful.
The walls had paintings of a beautiful woman resembling the one that was chained by the demoness Deinae.
Throwing the chained woman to the side, she splashed in the water.
Alleus was about to run after her but I caught her before she did.
"Don’t, we don’t know if she’s integral to the story or not... it’s best we leave her alone." I said, shaking my head.
"But—"
"Just don’t." I tightened my grip before letting go, "Vertere place a barrier over her just in case."
Nodding, Vertere ran and knelt down to his knees and began casting.
"Water dome." A few seconds later, the water from the lagoon turned into a spherical barrier, "I used the water from the lagoon, since it has a high purity of mana. So it should hold up nicely, even without me supplying it with mana."
"Good, now do the same for us." I pointed down at the water.
"Water dome."
The water then rose, protecting us from danger.
A few droplets of water fell on my face as it was being conjured.
"Can you check whether this water or poisoned or not?" I asked Vertere.
Shaking his head, Vertere replied:
"No, I’ve already checked. Why do you ask?" He tilted his head.
"Good, everyone start drinking and restore your mana pool."
Scooping water, everyone started to gulp down.
This just might be the tastiest water I’ve ever drank, the mana must have done wonders for in giving it flavor.
Glancing back at the demoness Deinae and Incus, I stood on the very edge within the water dome.
"Why did you invade Febritust, as far as I’m concerned they don’t have anything of value." Incus lowered her center of gravity into a fighting stance.
"Why have we come here?" Deinae placed her blood rendering sword on her cheek, "This kingdom has something that cannot be found anywhere else... a stunning beauty. An immortal."
"An immortal? I thought that the first Truthseeker was the only known immortal to ever exist." Incus raised her voice in confusion.
"That’s right, the only known... the queen of Febritust has been told to have been changed over the generations but that’s a lie." Deinae then glanced over at the beauty wrapped in illuminating chains, "There has only ever been one. The queen has simply tweaked her appearance as it has been so called foretold that the next queen shall have aquatic hair and a stunning body to accompany her beautiful face."
"Is that so..." Incus then suddenly leapt at Deinae and swung her sword.
Chuckling, Deinae elegantly moved out of the way.
"So impatient, I wouldn’t be in such of a hurry to battle if I were you... even I can tell that your body is on it’s last legs." Deinae then lunged forward, doing multiple slow slashes and blood splattered into the water.
Right before Incus was going to make electricity explode from her hero sword, Deinae shook her head.
"I’d advise against that, after all you aren’t the only one that’s here."
Incus then paused.
"She’s an immortal so she should be fine—!" Incus then raised the sword, about to strike the ground.
"No!" Demoness Deinae lunged at Incus, attempting to stop the attack.
Redirecting the path of her blade, Incus spun around before slashing horizontally.
"Impact line."
Hot blood then spilled from from Deinae’s stomach.
"What a naughty girl you are." Rubbing her hand across her stomach, the gaping wound then disappeared, "Out of all of the demons in my command, my healing factor is the most prominent... well, there is one demon who had a healing factor much more potent that mine but he forced his body not to, eventually losing it."
She paused for a moment.
"Draan." Deinae then clenched her fist.
Does that mean that Draan abandoned his healing factor?
The blood from her sword that was splattered on the ground then turned spikes that shot out at Incus.
Jumping in the air, Incus dodged the attack.
"You’re not the first one I’ve battled that has used blood."
