Chapter 73: 144 (4)

As Incus clashed with Deinae, blood kept splattering into the lagoon.

Jumping from side to side, Incus dodged whenever spiked blood would pierce at her.

As seconds passed, the spikes of blood then surrounded Incus, limiting her movements.

"You’re not the only one that’s cunning." Deinae then slashed down at Incus.

Quickly summoning different hero’s swords, a gust of wind slightly pushed her back.

"Excaligale." Breaking the spikes of blood, Incus raised the other hero’s sword, "Excalifrost."

Multiple swords made of ice then conjured around her and flew at Deinae.

Demoness Deinae then stood completely still.

The water tainted in blood around her then exploded, and the swords of ice shattered.

Running at Incus, the water splashed with every step.

"I’ve had my fill of fun." Deinae said coldly, her movements grew sharper every second.

The blood that tainted the water also flew back to the blood rendering sword.

The two of them clashed blades around the lagoon, their movements made the water splash under their feet and sparks of steel flew followed.

The power of their swings would form waves.

Wrapping around the blood rendering sword, the blood became a whip.

Slamming it against Incus, she was sent flying back.

Landing with a splash, she rolled back up into a fighting stance before lunging forward.

Whipping the blood rendering sword around, it became like a net.

Dodging and parrying her way through, Incus used the cloaking gale to hasten her speed.

Ducking to dodge an attack, Incus commanded the dragon scales to encase the blood whip and slam it into the ground.

With a smirk, Deinae dropped the blood rendering sword and held an invisible sword.

"I will demonstrate now demonstrate the impossible."

Right as Incus was about to land a killing blow at the demoness’ neck, Deinae swung upwards.

The water of the lagoon then split, forming two small walls of water.

Shifting my attention back at Incus, she was on her knees.

"What happened, did she lose!" Alleus asked, her voice full of fear.

"I don’t know..." I grimaced.

Kicking Incus down, Deinae laughed.

"Is this all that you have to offer me? What a pathetic hero you are~" She then reached for Incus’ head, but a blade had stabbed through her palm, "Ack!"

Slowly standing back up, Incus stomped into the ground with a splash and twisted her body back before thrusting forward.

"Sky severing thrust!"

A large gaping hole then formed on Deinae’s abdomen.

"How irritating!" Kicking Incus away, Incus was sent rolling back across the lagoon of water, "But a feisty woman such as yourself will liven things up... taming you will be fun."

Picking back up the blood rendering sword, the blood that formed into a whip turned back into it’s liquid form, seeping through the gaps of the dragon scales armor.

Picking herself back up with the hero sword, I couldn’t help but notice that her left eye had turned back to it’s black pupil color.

"What is it captain..?" Lieur asked.

It seems that I couldn’t hide my expression of fear as the realization that Incus really might lose this battle dawned on me.

"Shes... out of mana." I replied, forming a fist with a tight grip.

"Can’t she just drink from the water?" Ulna asked, her voice shaky.

"Unless the author writes for her to do so, we’ll just have to hope that she wins this battle." I grimaced, as I looked back at the ongoing battle.

Standing directly in front of each other, they both patted the flat face of their blades against each other before clashing their blades once more.

The room was filled with the noise of steel hitting against steel, the swirling of the dome of water that protected us as droplets of water fell on me.

Incus would occasionally get kicked down, but she would always pick herself back up and continue battling.

Her body was consuming multiple wounds, and the cracking hero armor that she wore eventually shattered.

Soon her crimson cloak had been eviscerated as well, the only thing that she had left was her torn garments.

Damn it Incus, please win this... no... Author, I beg of you to write Incus to win.

As they continued to clash, I noticed that Incus’ hero’s sword would always be touching the blood rendering sword, and when the blades stopped touching, Incus would be kicked back.

"Scales of dragon... protect me." The scales then wrapped around Incus, resembling a full body armor.

Her stance then switched, she wasn’t stomping on the ground but gliding her feet.

With a swishing motion, Incus inched ever so closer to Deinae.

Although the amount of attacks she unleashed had diminished, her moves had become much more refined.

Deinae on the other hand had grown expressionless, her eyes seemed to track every attack from Incus.

"It’s impressive how much you’ve grown throughout our battle but the end will still be the same... you on a leash beneath my feet—!"

Scrapping Deinae’s sword up in the air, Incus had slashed downwards at Deinae with a different sword in hand.

"Excaliburn." Slashing upwards, an arc of flame shot up and blew Deinae back.

"How? I thought she didn’t have enough mana to sustain herself?" Alleus scratched the back of her head.

"Whenever she got kicked down, she took a gulp of water." Lieur replied, her eyes focused.

Of course, I almost forgot. Lieur had that eagle eye skill of hers which let’s her see things from afar with a clear vision.

The blood that encased the blood rendering sword was burning away.

"Tsk, do you know how much effort I put in to accumulate such high class blood!" Deinae walked through the blade of fire, "I had to put myself through such humiliation just to get a drop of the demon king’s blood for this weapon yet you go and insult it by evaporating it!"

Winding the sword back, Deinae unleashed an array of projectiles in the shape of an arc made of blood.
