Be Careful What You Wish For: A Zombie Apocalypse-Chapter 248: How’s That Working Out?
Chapter 248: How’s That Working Out?
Chang Xuefeng and I watched Hazel-Anne skipping away from the house, holding on to her mother’s and father’s hand. Every so often, she would swing forward, and they would take her weight and the sound of their laughter echoed on the wind.
"Are you sure that’s a smart decision?" asked Chang Xuefeng as he cocked his head to the side.
I knew what he was talking about. The back of the father’s head was missing part of his skull, and blood slowly leaked from the wound. Even the mother had an exit wound in the back of her head that must have been hidden by her bangs.
With a wave of my fingers, I watched the wounds heal over in seconds. The father must have felt something because he looked over his shoulder to stare at me, his eyes narrowing in a silent threat.
That look alone assured me that I had made the best decision possible. They would protect Hazel-Anne, the small demon with more wisdom than sense.
"They aren’t human," grunted Tank coming up to my side as he stared at the family of three as they continued down the path. "But they aren’t zombies either."
"They are special," I chuckled low. If Hazel-Anne didn’t want a direct path to point Death, then I would protect her in the best way I could. After all, as a demon, she was one of my children.
I gagged a bit as that thought came through my head, and I shuddered in disgust. Nope, I was not going there. We made a deal, and I gave her what she wished for. That was it, end of story.
"I want to go out," I announced, with a firm nod of my head. "I just realized that I miss granting wishes."
Tank simply nodded his head and went off to tell the guys what I wanted while Daddy still stood behind me, his arms around me as he rested his chin on my head. "Going off to find point Z?"
I hummed in response, the smile falling from my face as I thought about what I wanted. "I thought I was living a good life," I said softly, my eyes still staring forward even though the small family had already disappeared over the hill. "But I also lost sight of what I wanted when I found all of you guys."
"And what is it that you want?" mused Chang Xuefeng as he kissed the top of my head.
"I want to experience the world," I sighed. "I want to grant wishes and fuck things up. I want to walk into a compound and create chaos. I want..."
Chang Xuefeng chuckled softly as he spun me around in his arms. "We have the rest of eternity to answer the question of what you want," he assured me. "But let’s start with the first ’want’, shall we? Let’s head out and grant wishes and fuck things up."
"Is that okay?" I asked, narrowing my eyes.
"Of course it is fine," laughed Dante as he came down the stairs, the rest of the Sins and Tank behind him. "Besides, the demon in me really wants to burn this world down. Can’t do that if we are stuck in a house, now can we?"
"No, we can’t," I sighed, the weight I didn’t realize I was carrying lifting off my shoulders as I saw my men in front of me, ready to go at just a single word from me.
This might not be everyone’s story, but it was mine.
And fuck anyone who tried to stop me from living my life.

We hadn’t been walking that long when we came up to a small camp set up just on the other side of the road. There was a single fire lit and a single person sitting in front of it.
His shoulders were hunched forward like the weight of the world was on his back as he hung his head down. A part of me thought he looked familiar, but I couldn’t place him.
"Hey, Mister," I called out as the men behind me spread out. Ronan was the first one to disappear, but I could feel him up in the trees around me, waiting for a reason to kill. Dante and Tank stood on either side of me as the rest slipped into the shadows.
"Is this really necessary?" I sighed as the man’s head jolted upright. "I mean, it’s just one guy."
"When it comes to your safety, it doesn’t matter how many men or women are there. We will do what we need to protect you," answered Tank, taking my hand in his massive one. "You have fun; we are here to make sure that you are safe at the same time." frёeweɓηovel.coɱ
Shrugging my shoulders like that sentiment hadn’t caused me to want to melt into a pile of goo, I smiled brightly as the man rose to his feet.
"Max?" grunted Luca as he emerged from one of the trees. "What are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be with Réne?"
The man, Max, stiffened when he heard Luca calling out to him, but he never took his eyes away from mine. "Apparently, I’m not what Réne wanted either," grunted Max, and it took me a moment to realize where I had heard that name.
"Réne?" I muttered softly, dipping my head. "Alicia? The one who threw me in a swamp to kill me? That Réne?"
While I might have been muttering under my breath, that didn’t stop Dante and Tank from stiffening on either side of me.
"Now, Frère," chuckled Dimitri as he came out of the trees on the other side of the road from Luca. "It be a might suspicious dat you are here only two days after Réne and ’is amis tried to enter our house."
"I had nothing to do with that," assured Max as he raised his hands in surrender. "All I wanted was to find a place where I could put down roots without..."
"Without getting yer pretty ’ands dirty," nodded Ronan as he dropped from a tree. "How’s dat workin’ out fer ye?"
