Chapter 20: Chapter 20: Bruises

Aurora’s heart clenched and she prayed her guess was wrong.

Tiptoeing to the location from where the faint sobs were coming.

She saw a figure draped in the blanket, sitting in the corner of the room trying her best to suppress the sobs.

"Sister?" Aurora softly called out.

The figure stiffened, and the choked sobs paused suddenly.

"Olivia, are you alright?" Aurora asked again.

Olivia stayed silent.

"Are you going to pretend you are asleep? I heard you sobbing earlier, I..."

"Shush!" Olivia popped her head out, along with her hand, and placed her index finger to her lips.

Aurora mimicked her action, looking obedient.

"Why are you awake? Go and sleep!" Olivia whispered, casting a nervous glance in Adriana’s direction, fearing their voices would wake her up.

Aurora shook her head firmly.

Olivia gritted her teeth and cursed under her breath,

"I can’t even cry in privacy!"

"Why are you crying?" Aurora asked, concern evident in her tone.

"Nothing. Just go back to bed." Olivia orders.

Aurora shakes her head,

"No, either you tell me, or I will shout and wake Adriana up, and then you can explain everything to her."

Due to the darkness of night, Aurora couldn’t see the expression on Olivia and could only hear the sound of gritting teeth.

"Fine. Let’s not talk here though."

Before Aurora could react, Olivia dashed out of the room. Aurora hurriedly followed her.

Olivia halted for a brief second, gave a glance in Aurora’s direction, entered the room, and brought the blanket along.

Opening the door, Olivia dragged Aurora out, and draped the blanket around her, while muttering,

"I don’t understand, why the heck you have so much curiosity in you! Stupid."

Aurora who felt a chill down her spine after stepping out, felt comforted by the warmth of the blanket.

She showed a bright smile to Olivia, who was making sure Aurora was covered properly.

Both of them went to the rooftop of the building.

In the stillness of the night, the sound of their footsteps echoed in the stairway. Once on the rooftop, Aurora switched on the lights.

"No-" Before Olivia could stop Aurora, the lights were turned on, chasing away the darkness shrouding the rooftop.

Gasp.

Aurora gasped when she saw the bruises on Olivia’s face, neck, and hands. For a moment her mind stopped working.

Olivia on the other hand quickly hid her face and turned her back to Aurora.

Aurora blinked and with force turned Olivia to face her,

"Sister show me your face."

"No." Olivia struggled. Even in her struggling state though, she ensured Aurora wasn’t hurt.

"Sister, please," Aurora begged, her voice sounded choked. Suddenly she threatened, "If you don’t I will go downstairs and call Mom. I will tell her everything." fгeewebnovёl.com

"You..."Olivia was angry and at a loss of word, at the same time.

At last, under Aurora’s various threats, she faced Aurora.

Aurora’s breathing hitched.

Olivia’s face had many bruises, on her neck were faint fingertip marks, and on her arms were injuries and faint imprints of shoe soles.

"Who...did this you?" Aurora asked softly. Her hand gently traced the injuries causing Olivia to wince in pain.

"No one..."

"Sister, please don’t make me repeat the consequences if you don’t tell me the truth." Aurora’s voice sounded eerie calm.

Olivia was so immersed in her emotions, that she didn’t notice the fluctuation in Aurora’s emotions.

She slowly explained in a low voice,

"I met some stupid sadist and..."

12 hours before.

Olivia reached the party location with her best friend Siya.

"Ah...Olivia today you will definitely outshine all the b*tches in the house!" Siya sighed. "If only you had told me in advance that you were going to be this dressed up, I would have made preparations in advance."

Olivia chuckled, "What were you expecting when you mentioned Miller?"

An amused expression appeared on Siya’s face.

Both of them entered a 3-storey house, chatting and with a huge smile on their face.

When rang the bell, a young woman with beautiful black smooth hair and black eyes opened the door.

"Hey, Janet, hope you have stocked up on beer." Olivia joked.

Janet smirked, "You mean fruit bear, right?"

"Yeah, yeah." Olivia and Siya nodded, but a knowing look appeared on their face.

Janet stepped aside, letting Olivia and Siya into the house. The place was packed with people laughing, chatting, and dancing to loud music. The smell of pizza and chips filled the air.

"Wow, looks like a real party this time," Siya said, nudging Olivia.

Olivia scanned the room, her heart racing.

"Do you see Miller anywhere?" she asked, trying to sound casual.

Siya smirked. "Relax, we just got here. Let’s get something to drink first."

They walked to the kitchen, where a table was filled with bottles of soda, fruit beer, and snacks.

Olivia grabbed a fruit beer and took a sip, trying to act natural.

Just then, the atmosphere in the room shifted. The loud chatter turned into murmurs, and people turned their heads toward the entrance. A tall, striking girl with wavy chestnut hair and piercing emerald eyes walked in, her designer heels clicking against the floor. She wore a fitted red dress that shimmered under the dim party lights, and a diamond bracelet sparkled on her wrist.

It was Rose Lancaster, the rich heiress of the Lancaster family.

As if those identities weren’t enough, she was also the leader of the cheerleader’s team and the fashion diva of the grade.

A few boys rushed to greet her, offering her drinks and pulling out chairs.

The girls fawned over her outfit, throwing compliments her way, hoping to get into her good graces. Rose smirked, enjoying the attention. She walked gracefully through the crowd, exchanging small talk and throwing sharp, playful insults at a few people, making some laugh while others shifted uncomfortably.

Then her eyes landed on Olivia. Her smirk widened.

"Olivia, there you are," Rose called out, making sure everyone nearby could hear.
