Chapter 22: Chapter 22: Scar

Olivia’s nose soured. Her eyes turned moist and even her heart started to ache, yet she kept a firm stance and said,

"I didn’t push! She fell on her own! The ring is real! So why would I need to panic?"

Seeing her confident look, the crowd started to waver, but there were some who had long ago gotten angry seeing Olivia’s confident demeanor.

"You are truly bold, huh! Even after harming Natasha, you are lying, don’t you feel ashamed at all?" A young man with blonde hair and ocean-blue eyes shouted. His face had turned red from anger.

He was Miller Joseph.

Olivia shook her head repeatedly,

"Wait...let me explain. She came to hold my hand, but before I could react she fell to the ground. As for the scratch mark, it is on her left arm. However, it was her right arm which was holding me."

Miller however ignored Olivia’s explanation and walked up to Natasha and helped her up.

"Olivia you know Natasha is my cousin, yet you harmed. You are truly something."

Olivia felt her anger rising, she shouted,

"Don’t you understand what I am trying to say? She was the one who first attacked me and now she is trying to frame me! F*ck! Is that so hard to understand?"

Miller’s eyes narrowed,

"I was truly mistaken before. I thought you were a gentle girl, but now I see your true color. You are nothing more than a vicious woman. I heard from someone that you like me, right? So I will tell you! I will never like a scheming woman like you ever again! Do you understand?"

The crowd of students couldn’t help but laugh,

"God, what a satisfying karma!"

"Yeah, she first lied about having a VJ ring, then when she was about to be exposed, she pushed and scratched Natasha in panic, and now she is lying again. Thank god she is getting her karma now!"

"Exactly Miller has seen her true face, he will never like someone vain like her."

"Her getting publicly rejected is suited for her!"

"Hey, guys don’t you think we all are going overboard?"

"What overboard? None of us harmed her at least."

Olivias’ eyes stung, and she kept on shouting,

"I didn’t do it! Do you understand? F*ck you all!"

She turned and stormed out of the house.

Once out of the house, tears filled in her eyes, and started to spill out.

"B*tches and b*stards! What all they think? Do I truly look like a monster to everyone? Why would I even harm anyone? What about Siya? Why did she remain quiet? Does she too thinks that I...no...she isn’t that type of person..." She muttered.

However, her pace eventually slowed down. Suddenly she lost her footing and fell on the ground.

"Ouch." Olivia felt a pain in her ankle and started to examine it. Suddenly a shadow enveloped her and the next second a sag covered her.

The malice of teenagers is innocent yet evil.

They see everything in extremes. There is no such thing as grey for them. They brand everyone either as evil or innocent.

Olivia was the new branded evil for them.

Hence...

"Ah! Who are you? Ouch! Stop! Please! Please stop! Don’t beat me!" Olivia’s voice sounded from the rag.

Some were kicking her, while some were punching her face. Olivia curled up instinctively to protect herself.

The beating continues for the next 10 minutes.

By the time it ended, Olivia was in a half-unconscious state.

Before she could heave a sigh of relief, though, she felt a hand wrap around her neck. Olivia started to struggle in panic kicking her feet and clutching the hand wrapped around her neck.

Seconds ticked by. Olivia slowly lost her strength and her grip on the hand slowly loosened.

The sensation of breath sucked out from lungs wasn’t pleasant and she even felt she will die.

Just when her eyes started to close, she heard a familiar voice,

"Next time, you dare to hurt Natasha, I will make sure to put you through the same hell."

Clang.

Olivia was thrown on the ground roughly. She however barely had the time to register the pain, she was busy gasping for air greedily.

A few choked coughs escaped her lips in between.

"Haha! So pathetic!"

"Now I want to see if she can act proud!"

"Truly...even after beating her so much, my anger hasn’t been satisfied! She dared to hurt Natasha! Thinking of how much Nat is crying, my heart is aching for her."

"Should we go for a round two?"

"Nah, let’s leave."

Olivia hurriedly took out the rack and tried to see the faces, but she was still a step too late.

She gritted her teeth in anger.

With a rack on, she can at most file a complaint, but since she didn’t see the faces of her assailant, they will be never punished.

"Ahh!" Olivia shouted in agony.

Tears started to fall from her eyes.

She was framed and couldn’t clear her name. She was beaten but couldn’t bring justice for herself.

Helplessness...

Olivia cried. She couldn’t hold back the tears anymore.

"F*ck! Why does everyone sympathize with the weak? Can’t see them past the tears? Just because she cried, she became correct in their eyes. Damn you! Damn you all!"

A scar was etched in her heart.

A scar either remains hidden only showing up later, or they change a person against their will.

That day...it changed something in Olivia.

Olivia knew she couldn’t go back to her house in the condition she was in. They already were facing a lot of issues.

With trembling hands, she took out a concealer and foundation and started to apply them to her injuries.

After finishing her makeup, Olivia looked at her red eyes and a resolve formed in her mind.

If the world could only sympathize with the weak...then she would act like one.
