Born Into Villain's Family: I Have a 200\% Rebate System-Chapter 35: Scam
Chapter 35: Chapter 35: Scam
Lucas however stared at Aurora as if she had grown two heads,
"Aurora...are you okay?"
"Huh? What? I am serious. I can get twice the amount of money, I spend on you." Aurora said.
"What?" Lucas rubbed his ears as if he was trying to check if they were working. "I can’t hear a single word!"
Aurora’s expression changed.
She again repeated her sentence.
Aurora’s pulse quickened as she watched Lucas’s confused expression.
He rubbed his ears again, shaking his head in mild disbelief.
"You’re messing with me, right?" he asked, his brow furrowing. "I swear, your lips are moving, but I can’t hear a thing."
Aurora swallowed hard.
This was beyond strange. It was as if some invisible force wasn’t just preventing her from speaking about the system—it was actively censoring her words from being heard.
A sense of unease curled in her gut. She tried once more, enunciating each syllable deliberately.
"If I buy you something, I get double the amount back."
Lucas blinked at her, his expression unchanging.
"Nope. Still nothing."
Her breath hitched. This was real. She wasn’t imagining things.
The restriction wasn’t just in her head—it extended to others as well.
At last, she came up with a different idea.
Bank Card!
She asked Lucas to wait and hurriedly inside her room. She opened her bag and started to find the card, but suddenly, she couldn’t find it no matter what.
"Huh? Strange...it was here..."
At last, Aurora can only give up.
She understood one thing...some invisible force was preventing her from telling her family about the existence of the rebate system.
Sigh...so the thought of blatantly helping crashed.
She returned to where her brother was and said in a hesitant voice,
"Brother I was just joking earlier."
Lucas sighed and turned away to finish his assignment.
Aurora slumped down on the bed.
The next day, Aurora woke up. Her stomach was aching slightly.
"Ugh...what a great way to start the day."
Struggling she stood up and happened to see Adriana, and Olivia softly whispering something to each other.
"You can go now. He will go out in the afternoon."
"I feel nervous," Adriana whispered.
"Come on, you just have to accept your fault and apologize." Olivia rolled her eyes as if it wasn’t a big thing.
"You won’t understand," Adriana muttered.
Seeing Aurora awake, Adriana subconsciously said, "Go and wash up, the breakfast is ready."
Aurora flashed a smile and nodded.
After washing up, she saw Adriana, Olivia, Lucas, and Theodore standing in the hallway with their ears practically attached to the door.
Olivia spotted Aurora and placed her index finger on her lips.
Aurora imitated her action and nodded her head. She tiptoed to their location and whispered,
"What happened?"
Olivia glared at her, silencing Aurora with her gaze.
Just then Adam’s voice sounded from the room.
"I don’t know Mary. Everything seems to have spiraled out."
"Adam if you don’t tell me everything, how will we come up with a solution?" Mary’s concerned voice sounded.
Adam let out a deep sigh, his voice heavy with frustration.
"For the past few days, this rich guy kept coming to the repair shop," he began.
"Each time, he showed up in a different car and asked me to fix something. At first, I thought it was just a coincidence, but then it started to feel... strange."
There was a brief pause before he continued, his voice edged with anger.
"Every single time, he’d find faults with my work. No matter how well I fixed his car, he’d come back the next day, complaining about something new.
And then, the day before yesterday, he handed me a Land Rover Defender to repair. I did my job like I always do—checked everything, replaced the broken parts, and made sure the car was running perfectly."
The room was silent except for Adam’s voice. freewebnσvel.cøm
The siblings outside the door held their breath, listening closely.
"But yesterday, he came back—this time with a serious accusation," Adam said bitterly.
"He claimed I had stolen parts from his car. I told him that was impossible. I even asked the owner to check the surveillance footage to prove my innocence, but guess what? The cameras were under maintenance!"
Mary gasped. "You mean there’s no proof?"
"Exactly," Adam replied.
"I had no way to defend myself. It was just his word against mine. And to make things worse, my boss didn’t even listen to me. He sided with the rich guy and fired me on the spot."
A deep silence filled the room before Adam finally spoke again, his voice quieter this time.
"As if that wasn’t bad enough, they’re demanding I pay $50,000 in compensation. If I don’t, they’ll press charges against me."
A sharp intake of breath could be heard from Mary.
"That’s ridiculous! You didn’t do anything wrong!"
Adam let out a tired chuckle. "Doesn’t matter. Without proof, I’m guilty in their eyes."
Outside the room, Aurora, Lucas, Olivia, and Adriana exchanged shocked looks.
"$50,000?!" Olivia mouthed, her eyes wide.
Lucas clenched his fists. "That’s not fair. They’re framing him!"
Adriana looked down, her face troubled. She didn’t know her father was carrying so much burden with him.
Adam’s voice sounded again,
"I am thinking of selling the Rolex watch. I am grateful for whoever gifted me the watch, but currently, I need money more..."
Mary’s voice was firm. "No, Adam. You can’t sell that watch."
Adam sighed.
"I don’t have a choice, Mary. Fifty thousand dollars is a huge amount. If I don’t pay, they’ll take me to court."
Mary fell silent.
Lucas who was outside couldn’t take it anymore and knocked on the door.
The siblings too felt that it wasn’t right to keep on listening without giving a proper solution to their father.
It was clear as day, that their father was getting scammed.
Adam and Mary both looked toward the door and were stunned to see their five children.
"Father, let’s talk," Lucas said with a serious expression. Adriana, Olivia, Theodore, and Aurora nodded their head simultaneously.
