Born Into Villain's Family: I Have a 200\% Rebate System-Chapter 53: Suspicion-1
Chapter 53: Chapter 53: Suspicion-1
Aurora greeted Emily and then excused herself.
Once she entered the bathroom, with a trembling hand she opened the banking system.
Logically speaking she had bought the gift and Emily just pretended to gift it, so she should receive the rebate, but Aurora wasn’t sure if that was how the rebate system worked.
She even regretted her impulsive action. She should have tested the theory first before putting it into action.
When she checked the balance, Aurora’s heart skipped a beat.
$361,100!
Aurora almost jumped on the spot!
Her plan was working!
If everything went as she planned then...
Aurora took a deep breath.
It took her a lot of time to calm down before she exited the bathroom.
As the family dispersed and left Emily to rest in Olivia, Adriana, and Aurora’s shared room, Aurora entered the room and gave her a thumbs-up.
Emily grinned when she saw Aurora’s thumbs-up.
Aurora gave Emily a big thumbs-up and leaned in close.
"Emily," she whispered, her eyes shining with excitement. "I just bought a 4 kg gold bar. You have to go to the shop and pick it up."
Emily’s eyes widened. "Four kilograms? Are you crazy?"
Aurora smirked. "No, I’m smart. You’re going to give it to Adam and Mary as rent for letting you stay."
Emily’s lips twitched. "Are you serious?"
"Completely," Aurora said, nodding.
"Think about it. You already gave them gold once, so this won’t seem weird. Just act normal and say you forgot to pick something up from the shop. I already sent you the receipt."
Emily sighed and shook her head. "You’re unbelievable."
"But you’ll do it, right?" Aurora grinned.
Emily groaned. "Fine. But if they think I’m insane, it’s your fault."
Aurora gave her a playful wink. "They already think you’re rich and generous. This will only make them believe it more."
Emily took a deep breath. "Alright. Here goes nothing."
Emily walked into the living room where Adam and Mary were sitting. They seem to be discussing something with the four siblings. Seeing her they immediately shut up.
Olivia asked with a smile,
"Do you want something? Miss Emily?"
Emily nodded,
" I just remembered something super important!"
Mary looked up, confused. "What is it?"
Emily put on a sheepish smile.
"I forgot to pick up something from the gold shop earlier. Silly me!"
Adam raised an eyebrow.
"You mean, after giving us all that gold, you still had more to pick up?"
Emily laughed nervously.
"Uh... yeah! Just a little something I bought before, and I completely forgot about it." She grabbed Mary’s hand.
"Come with me! Please? I don’t want to go alone."
Mary blinked. "Me? Why?"
"Because... uh... I need help carrying it!" Emily quickly said.
Adam frowned. "Just how much did you buy?"
Emily waved her hand.
"Nothing too crazy! But it’s always good to have company. Adam, you should come too. And Lucas, Adirana, you wanna join?"
Lucas shook his head. "Nah, I’m good."
Adriana smiled and shook her head too.
Emily turned to Olivia and Theodore who shook their heads too.
She nodded quickly. "Okay! Adam and Mary, let’s go!"
She grabbed their arms and dragged them outside before they could say no.
When they arrived at the gold shop, Adam and Mary watched as Emily confidently walked up to the counter.
The shop owner looked at Emily and asked with a smile,
"Yes, how may I help you?"
Emily pulled out her phone, showing him the receipt Aurora had sent.
The man checked it and nodded. "Everything is in order. Please wait a moment."
A few minutes later, he came back carrying a small, heavy-looking box. He placed it on the counter carefully.
"Here’s your 4 kg gold bar, Miss Emily."
Mary’s jaw dropped. "Four kilograms?!"
Adam nearly choked. "You call this ’not too crazy’?"
Emily giggled nervously. "Oops? Did I forget to mention the weight?"
Adam ran a hand through his hair. "This is insane."
Emily just smiled and picked up the box. "Alright! Let’s go home!"
Back at the house, Emily set the box down on the table and opened it. The huge gold bar gleamed under the light.
Adam, Mary, Adriana, Olivia and Lucas all stared in shock.
Emily clapped her hands. "This is for you!"
Mary gasped. "What? No! We can’t take this!"
Adam shook his head. "Emily, this is way too much. We already accepted the other gold. We can’t take this, too."
Lucas frowned. "Yeah, Miss Emily. That’s a whole lot of gold!"
Emily put her hands on her hips. "It’s rent!"
Mary blinked. "Rent?"
Emily nodded. "Yes! You let me stay here, so I have to pay rent. And this is my payment."
Adam looked like he was about to faint. "No one pays 4 kg of gold for two days of rent!"
Emily crossed her arms. "Well, I do. And if you don’t accept it, I’ll leave."
Mary gasped. "Emily, don’t be ridiculous!"
Emily pouted. "I’m serious. Either you take it, or I go find somewhere else to stay."
Adam rubbed his temples. "Why are you like this?"
Emily grinned. "Because I’m rich."
Mary sighed. "Fine. We’ll take it. But I still think this is crazy."
Emily beamed. "Great! Now, who’s hungry? Let’s order some food to celebrate!"
Adam groaned. "I need to sit down first."
Lucas, Adriana, Olivia, and Theodore exchanged glances.
No matter how they see it, they couldn’t fathom the situation at all.
Who gives 4 kg as rent for staying?
That night, when the house quieted down, Lucas, Adriana, Olivia, and Theodore sneaked up to the rooftop.
The air was cool, and the city lights twinkled in the distance.
Lucas sat on the ledge, his legs dangling over the edge. "Okay, we need to talk."
Adriana crossed her arms.
"Yeah, no kidding. Something is definitely wrong with Emily."
Olivia sat down on a small stool, frowning.
"She just gave Mom and Dad four kilograms of gold... for rent! Who does that?"
Theodore, who had been quiet, finally spoke.
"It doesn’t make sense. Even rich people wouldn’t do that. Why would she give so much?"
