Born Into Villain's Family: I Have a 200\% Rebate System-Chapter 55: Cruel Reality
Chapter 55: Chapter 55: Cruel Reality
"And what if she’s trying to get rid of it? What if she has to spend it fast?"
Adriana shivered. "That makes it sound even shadier."
Aurora wagged her finger and said,
"What if she has done the same thing in the past and it has become her habit? Maybe her mother-in-law and her villainous husband had asked so much from her that she started to consider such things as normal?"
Theodore frowned. "You mean... like they treated her like a money machine?"
Aurora nodded. "Yeah! Maybe they always made her give them money, so now she thinks giving away gold is normal."
Adriana crossed her arms. "That sounds awful. But if that’s true, why would she still do it? No one’s forcing her now."
Lucas sighed. "Maybe she doesn’t know how to stop."
Olivia’s eyes widened. "Wait... what if she thinks she has to do it? Like, maybe she’s scared something bad will happen if she doesn’t give people money?"
Silence.
The siblings thought about that. It actually made sense.
Aurora tapped her chin. "Maybe she’s just trying to be nice, but in a really weird way."
Theodore nodded. "Or maybe she’s scared of disappointing people. Like, if she doesn’t give them gold, they’ll turn against her."
Adriana sighed. "Ugh, now I feel bad for her."
Lucas rubbed his forehead. "Okay, but we still don’t know for sure. We need to figure out more before we do anything."
Aurora grinned. "Ooooh, are we going to spy on her?"
Olivia gasped. "Aurora! That’s rude!"
Aurora shrugged. "Hey, how else are we gonna find out the truth?"
Lucas groaned. "Fine. But we have to be smart about it. No being obvious."
Adriana smirked. "So... Operation ’Find Out What’s Up With Emily’ starts now?"
Theodore cracked his knuckles. "Let’s do this."
Aurora clapped her hands. "This is gonna be so fun!"
The four siblings exchanged determined looks.
What they didn’t know was one of them was a spy.
It was none other than Aurora. She had heard everything just moments ago and her soul almost left her body.
Police?
The moment they called the Police, Emily would have blurted out everything, and then...
Hence Aurora decided to interfere.
Once back in her room, Aurora went to the bathroom and checked her balance.
$720,002.
The amount gave Aurora the strength to continue her plan.
If only her siblings weren’t smart and were a little dumb she could have easily given them money!
Suddenly an idea appeared in her mind.
Aurora wanted to test it out right away, but everyone had went to sleep, so she can only put the idea on hold.
.................
The next day, Adam and Mary stepped into the jewelry shop, their hearts pounding.
The shop was big and fancy, with bright lights making the gold and diamonds sparkle behind the glass cases.
A man in a suit greeted them with a polite smile.
"How can I help you today?" he asked.
Adam carefully placed the two gold bars on the counter—the 4kg one and the 1.8 kg one.
The man’s eyes widened for a split second before he quickly masked his surprise. He picked up one of the bars and examined it under a magnifying glass.
"This is pure gold," he muttered, clearly impressed.
Mary clutched her hands together, nervous. "How much can we get for it?"
The man typed something into his computer, checking the current gold prices. After a few moments, he looked up.
"For both, I can offer you... $475,000."
Mary gasped. Adam felt his knees go weak for a moment. Even though they had expected a large amount, actually hearing the number made it feel real.
Mary turned to Adam, her eyes shining. "We can do it," she whispered. "We can afford Aurora’s surgery. The chemotherapy... everything!"
Adam swallowed hard, feeling an overwhelming wave of relief.
"Yeah," he said, his voice rough with emotion. "And we can pay Adriana and Lucas’s university fees too."
The man behind the counter smiled, unaware of how life-changing this money was for them.
"Shall I begin the transaction?"
Adam nodded. "Yes, please."
As the man started the paperwork, Mary blinked away tears.
"Emily," she said softly. "She gave us all this gold... just like that. Does she even know how much she’s helping us?"
Adam let out a shaky breath. "She saved Aurora’s life without even knowing it."
Mary wiped her eyes and smiled.
"We have to do something for her. We can’t just take this and not repay her kindness."
Adam nodded. "We will. But first... we make sure Aurora gets the best treatment possible."
................
At home.
Aurora looked at Emily with a bright gaze and suddenly said,
"You must be wondering as to why I give money to my through you and why even though I am rich, my family is poor?"
Currently, only she and Emily were left in the room.
Adriana and Lucas had left for their part-time job, while Olivia and Theodore had gone to collect evidence for Adam’s innocence.
Emily nodded her head. She was truly curious.
"Well, I have a re...re...re..." Aurora tried to tell Emily the truth, but it seemed as if someone had turned off her audio switch.
She couldn’t but feel defeated.
So in the end she couldn’t tell anyone about the rebate system.
She thought if she could use the black card in front of Emily, it means she can tell a stranger about the rebate system.
The she could ask Emily to tell her parents the truth...easy peasy.
But now, the cruel reality makes her realize how naive she is.
Emily frowned, confused. "Aurora, are you okay?"
Aurora sighed and slumped back against the couch. "I want to tell you, but I can’t." She pouted, crossing her arms.
Emily tilted her head. "What do you mean you can’t? Is someone stopping you?"
Aurora groaned. "It’s like... ugh, I don’t know how to explain it! Every time I try to say it, my mouth just stops working."
Emily’s eyes widened. "That’s weird..."
Aurora nodded.
